Leave alone support, it was Britain herself who permitted Italy to take Ethiopia (which haven't happend). We only used swords, no modern weapons. You can come and visit the museum where the swords used during the battle are shown. It's in Addis Ababa

It is my first time hearing about the help tigray people got from foreign countries. . . .

Somali. . .was never part of Ethiopia and I have no Idea about the history of that country.

But a lot of ppl say that Menelik fighted Italians till some part of the Northern region of ET but then came back. He couldn't rescue some part of the Northern region (present day Eritrea).
They said that happend because the region has a very uncomfortable climatic condition (like a desert). Which won't help for a fight.

So, that's how Eritrea got under control of Italy

Menelik opinion was, all Askaries to be beaten by 80 lashes and Ras Mengesha Yohannes(son of emperor Yohannes IV) opinion was, all Askaries one arm and one leg to be cut. The reason for his cruel idea was, because the Askaries were in huge problems with his father Emperor Yohannes IV before. Menelik was very against this cruel idea, but after a serious debate, Menelik granted his wish, because he didn't want to escalate the situation. All the Askaries one arm and leg was cutted. Most of them died after because of it. But the Italians POW were treated goodly.

In the 1936, the Italians conquered us , but in 1960 Rome Olympic, Abebe Bikila conquered them also.
