Gangling Rashidi Yekini.. In this generation, he would have reached the heights of a Drogba or an Etoo. PHENOMENAL FINISHER. Underrated skills too.

Senegal 92, the winning goal against Cameroon

Tunisia 94, Yekini vs the post against Egypt

USA 94, the first WC goal.

The 94 set is gradually disappearing... Oliha, Yekini, Keshi, Okafor, Agbonibare all gone..

In the ongoing Beach soccer world cup.... The two teams from our group made it into the semis.... Italy and Iran...

Italy will be up against Brazil while Iran will be up against Tahiti....

Shows just how tough our group was mehn... but still we ought to get it right ourselves for next time. We need a beach soccer league and more....

TheGoodJoe:
Favorite moments of Yekini was his lob over a keeper (can not remember the team we played against in Tunisia 94), then the ball bounced up and he nodded it into the net.

Also his long range freekick (also can not remember the team) but the power in that shot was unbelievable.

Azingo stars of Gabon.

Your last paragraph got me laughing. But to that, not today. And I cannot tell that story alone. Elders like enomakos, kog45, komekn, forgiveness, Goldfish80, Tbaba1234, TheGoodJoe and others need to contribute their own sides bc many things been happen then o.

As to why Yekini celebrated alone:
Typically when a team goal is scored the scorer of the goal runs towards the other team mates that contributed to the scoring of that goal. That was a team goal that Yekini scored. The move started from Finidi who gave a pass to Amokachi who now put his leg at danger to slide the ball pass the Bulgarian goalie to Yekini who now just tapped the ball in almost effortlessly into an empty net. While the team members, who also expected Yekini to follow suit, ran towards Amokachi and Finidi, Yekini ran into the back of the net .To celebrate with who? I think it was Uche Okechukwu(not Ikpeba) who later went to bring him out of the net from where his leg was even entangled.

As for question of mafia. It existed.

People call them the mafia but they were just a gang of senior members of the team. Steven Keshi was their leader.

And yes we learnt Yekini had issues with most of the rest of the team. "Learnt" because they were rumours. Some said he took credit for all the teams achievements and that caused bad blood in the team. Very possible. But I don't think that was the reason we crashed to Italy in that epic 2nd Round game.

Issue of players not passing the ball to him also a rumour or insinuation. If it was true Amokachi would not have given him that pass from which he scored Nigeria's first WC goal. Just like the recent saying some time here that City players have refused passing the ball to Iheanacho.

baba eshe gan sir, it'd good to elders like u in the group. Agba yin a dale sir. ee ko ni dagbaya.

for the older elders mention please come and take ur period to tell us a story o. Elders like enomakos, kog45, komekn, forgiveness, Goldfish80, Tbaba1234, TheGoodJoe

Yes ooo, but i be no follow chop the noodles. I ain't even up to ten yet then so I had few memories but they were cool. That turkey's seven seconds goal, Korea getting to semis, Germany trashing of saudi arabia (had never seen anything like it before), senegal battling turkey at the quaters (my thought then was that senegal was cheated as their goals were disallow. now I know better lol)
