Morning guys, Anybody using WattPlot™ Monitor for Solar Power Generation? Is there any open source software for monitoring solar power generation?

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bigrovar(m): 10:40am On May 05, 2017 |
babaegun:https://openenergymonitor.org/ or if you cc logs your harvest. some allows you to export your harvest to something like csv which can then to uploaded to pvoutput.org |

Has anyone here really given wind turbines/generators a shot here in Nigeria. I am thinking in that direction. |

anochuks08: from my weather app. winspeeds in most cities in southern nigeria is btw 5 and 8km/h which is not too promising..... in the western hemissphere they have average wind speeds of 20km/h 2 Likes |

Hello everyone. I used to be a daily reader of this forum years past and I indeed appreciate every bit of it. But I haven't been on here in a long time until tonight after reading several pages I have missed, I'm glad I browsed here tonight. Just one thing that saddens my heart is the fact that we have a seller on here that praises everyone on the forum and make them look like good friends and colleagues but on the contrary, poison customers minds towards them when contacted for prices or purchase and making the customers feel like he is the only real renewable energy equipment seller in Nigeria. I personally have had few bad experiences with him in the past and I have sworn never to deal with him again, he can be so quick with delivery but has a shady side you wouldn't like. Anyways, thanks to the realest people in the house... You all know yourself. and to the bad egg "you suck"... I remember your favorite statement, so so so people are not sellers, they are just there.. they are just whatever. na only you be seller abi? Just a piece of advice, compare prices from different dealers/sellers before concluding on who to deal with. For me, Richmon74 and JUO has been awesome so far, as much as price is concerned. 8 Likes 1 Share |

So, few days ago, I upgraded my setup from the old 24 volts , 4 solar panel setup. Now i have a car port with 12 nos 250 W Solar Panels (mixture of felicity and my-home with almost similar configuration). The car port can accommodate 15 panels Maximum (by just tweaking the holes in pipes), 80A Fangpusun Mppt Charge Controller, Mate 2, 48V Battery (4 Quanta batteries connected in series), and 5kva - 48V Felicity Inverter. The only item missing is the Monitoring System which i need to complete but I can access the readings up to 128 days on the Charge controller. Need to brace the car port too. Interestingly, the highest generation so far recorded 8.4kWH in a cloudy day and I've been off grid for like 3 weeks(24/7) because the transformer in my area packed up. I think its a good way to start for a beginner like me, right? 6 Likes

babaegun: your harvest is too poor, 8.4kw, ur panels are 3kw already..using the 5hr sunshine rate and factoring in losses and inefficiencies..your harvest shud be above 12kw daily, i harvest about 6.2kw daily from my 1500w panel array 4 x 200ah battery bank. another reason might be that your load is small and your bank small too, methinks an 8 battery system is beta suited to your 3000kw panel array 4 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by babaegun(m): 10:27am On May 06, 2017 |
RipVanWink: Yes, its been raining and cloudy here meaning less sunshine so i said in my earlier post. I believe it will shoot beyond that as time goes on. Battery bank is just for 4 for now. Intention is to go up to 15 panels with 8 batteries but NOT now. Also, I have not really loaded it. Just couple of items - fridge, lights, tv, etc etc are running on it. Thanks for your comment anyway. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by tivta(m): 11:31am On May 06, 2017 |
babaegun:It might be as a result of the flatness of the panel, it is best to put it at an angle |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by iykmon: 11:54am On May 06, 2017 |
babaegun: Check your harvest on a sunny day to see what your max power output is from your panels. With the number of panels you have it should more than what you are getting. congrats once more. I was challenge to set up mine after 6months of no power from the national grid. Although a small unit with just 3panels, atleast i can sleep with light if there is sun light during the day. i have taught my people what power management requires when inverter is on. 3 Likes |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bigrovar(m): 2:48pm On May 06, 2017 |
RipVanWink: Harvest depends on consumption. There are days I generate less than 500wh from my 880 panels and days I go as high as 4kwh its all depends on how deep I discharge the batteries and how high my consumption is vis a vis the weather. I think OP load is light compared to his setup the important thing is for the battery to reach float on a daily basis. A light load means batteries are unlikely to be deeply discharged. 5 Likes |

viperVIP: Hello, I just bumped into this indirect post about me now . Mr Niyi aka " Tera man / handy man " , my old client whom we have transacted on more than 3 occasions .. You musnt come online to paint someone image black for no major sunstancial reason . This happened few weeks ago , we have no open stock of solar world 275w module sales online but I sold few units at prices rated higher due to reasons beyond your understanding . You are an installer , you called me pertaining a scarce 275w mono German module , I replied you my own price , your client turned you down and you reverted back to me as the cause ! I believe this is a personal issue and not online issue . You don't come to an open fora to maim/mar ones strong corporate identity OK.. If you had other sources as all business is for profit maximisation, you would have freely thought outside the box ! I remembered you telling me about the arrival of a new born baby in your family which I almost visited Abeokuta to attend the Ikomo ceremony ! Most issues are always best resolved outside the law court incase you don't know .. Juo (Mr James & Richmond ) are all my friends OK , no need of all this long empty sermon you came here to drop as most clients would just read, smile & PASS ! My number is always ON 24h/7 days a week for you to reach me instead of throwing tantrums in public which is absolutely uncalled for and immatured ! Thanks 1 Like 1 Share |

kiekie1:I have personally dealt with multiple sellers on this forum and I have never had reason to doubt any of them including Frankie. Thank God it was not about fraud but pricing. I would expect any one patronizing a online forum to if course source for the best pricing and not just ask from one source. I believe that apart from Juo I have purchased items from all sellers on this forum and I have not had any issues at all. There is no need of maligning anyone's xters and business if the price is bit OK for you go to the next seller. No need of trying to kill his business since he did not cheat you. 3 Likes |

VICTRON MPPT CHARGE CONTROLLER 150V/85A @200k PLS CALL OLA ON 09057285592 PV voltage up to 150 V The BlueSolar MPPT 150/70 and 150/85 charge controllers will charge a lower nominal-voltage battery from a higher nominal voltage PV array. The controller will automatically adjust to a 12, 24, 36, or 48V nominal battery voltage. Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Especially in case of a clouded sky, when light intensity is changing continuously, an ultra-fast MPPT controller will improve energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers. Advanced Maximum Power Point Detection in case of partial shading conditions If partial shading occurs, two or more maximum power points may be present on the power-voltage curve. Conventional MPPT’s tend to lock to a local MPP, which may not be the optimum MPP. The innovative BlueSolar algorithm will always maximize energy harvest by locking to the optimum MPP. Outstanding conversion efficiency Maximum efficiency exceeds 98%. Full output current up to 40°C (104°F). Flexible charge algorithm Several preconfigured algorithms. One user programmable algorithm. Manual or automatic equalisation. Battery temperature sensor. Battery voltage sense option. Programmable auxiliary relay For alarm or generator start purposes Extensive electronic protection Over-temperature protection and power derating when temperature is high. PV short circuit and PV reverse polarity protection. Reverse current protection. CAN bus To parallel up to 25 units, to connect to a ColorControl panel or to connect to a CAN bus network 1 Share

His panels are just right. Almost flat is better for our region. Mine is flat and its 1000w panels and my harvest yesterday was 4.3kwh. Like he said it has been cloudy where he is and his system is not really loaded. tivta: 2 Likes |

Ola28, The one without display for N170k is it still available? (Mppt 150/85) Can the Bluesolar mppt 150/85 be paralleled with a Bluesolar mppt 150/70? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ola28: 10:40am On May 07, 2017 |
Barezzi: The one without display is not available, but if you are interested in this new one, we can talk abt d price. I'm not sure if u can parallel with 150/70 |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by DMerciful(m): 4:53pm On May 07, 2017 |
@ Barezzi, you cannot really parallel charge controllers even of same spec. You have to separate ur panels else ur system will perform poorly. Its difficult for 2 paralleled CC to not influence each other and also difficult for them to find d maximum power point! ola28: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 5:39pm On May 07, 2017 |
Actually, you CAN parallel the Bluesolar 150/70 mppt charge controllers. What i'm not sure of is if it's limited to the 150/70 series... Update>> Yes, i've confirmed you can parallel the 150/85 with 150/70, and monitor them as one big charger on the Color Control GX. |
