BascoVanVeli: See talk. Illegal. I guess CR7's dad should go to jail for Motivating his child that he should make it out of poverty and hardship through football? Please, let the best talent play. Let the teachers teach kids in school. A child should follow his dream passionately. Not yours. Not all kids will make it from books. I am not against kids learning but using book smart as a criteria is wrong. |

TheGoodJoe:i am with you on this some students will finish secondary and still can not read and write but are the best when it comes to sports so i see no reason why they should not be allow to compete with educated one's 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: Ronaldo was in school from age 12 to 16. European clubs have schools attached their academies. Rashford was going to school while he broke into the Man u squad. Every child can be book smart, there is no dumb child. We are not asking for rocket scientist, we just need them to be educated. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:19pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: Who said kids should not go to school? How good the player is should be the reason for picking the player. Not grades. A boy who has a dream and passion for Football will spend a lot of time on the training pitch unlike a kid who wants to become an aeronautical engineer, who will spend more time reading. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 1:19pm On May 06, 2017 |
maidaboi: It is a shame that adults will allow such atrocities just because a kid can kick a ball. This is why schools have to be involved, that way the village can raise the child. We can also reward the school who have the brightest students athletes and that will motivate the teachers to put in extra hours. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:21pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: From interviews and reports, Awoniyi was the booksmart lad of the 2013 U17 squad. Now compare his development to those he was smarter than. A kid should work hard in school but if footie is his dream, he will spend more time on the pitch. There are kids cracking their books while little Dembele is improving his skills in training. 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: The question is, if the kid who has Okocha skills keeps getting an F in English, based on the book smart criteria, should he get picked? I say yes. What do you say? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 1:29pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Who said grades will be the reason for picking kids? u select the best and also get them educated, simple. There are 24 hours in a day, I belive that is enough time to play and also read. Even the kid who wants to be an aeronautical engineer should get off his butt and get to playing sports. Children need both sports and education in order to succeed in life. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 1:36pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Awoniyi is in Europe playing football, is Iheanacho on mars? Even as a university student if u spend one hour everyday going over ur books u will pass. For u to be going crazy over asking children to simply pass their classes is just ridiculous. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 1:41pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Why should he keep getting F's? Why do u guys only see the failure side of this issue? What if a kid with the skills of Okocha shows that he is even smarter than every kid in his class? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:41pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: Awoniyi is more booksmart than them but they are more talented than him. Finito. It is ridiculous making him the stand out talent because of the books he read. It is what he can do with the ball that matters. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: If the kid is Bosun Adeoti smart and poor at trapping the ball, he should do sports for recreation and work his heart off cracking his books. Follow your passion and talent. All kids will not shoot like Iheanacho. Neither will all of them be as smart as Adeoti. Find your bliss and persevere there. Play your wing. We are on a mission to get as many kids as we can educated. However, when it is time to play ball, let the best on the pitch shine. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:49pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: If he is as smart as a University first class mathematician, Good for him. However, getting to such level with books takes a lot of time. You can not get there with one hour a day. Fa fa fa Foul. The kid needs to find out his bliss. Spend time working on his dream. You can not eat your cake and have it. The point is simple. If a young teen of 13 who has never seen the four walls of a classroom can control and trap the ball like Bergkamp and can score like Romario, it is a crime not starting him in a side if he is the best player. Finito. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 1:50pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Iheanacho signed with 2 agents at once, he signed away his image rights. All this could have been avoided if he went to school. U can't tell me u are proud when a player gets to Europe and can't spell his name. Without education we are just selling slaves to Europe, AKA low level workers. There is no great black man who wasn't educated. U are really cheating a child when u think u are doing them a favor. 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:54pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: A player with no talent and all the books in his head will not even have an opportunity to offer the club a signature. You think all the Seventeen year olds in Europe can read a full contract paper? Haba. That is why they have lawyers and representatives. Others will learn from his mistakes. You do not need a textbook to get a quality lawyer. 1 Like |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:56pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: I repeat, no one says kids should not go to school but it should not be a criteria. This point is too simple. Unfortunately, in Africa we have an educational challenge. A lot of kids do not go to school. It is a fact. That does not mean those kids should lose their opportunities to play football in Europe if they have the talents. Finito. Comprende. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 1:57pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: We win u17 and only 5 are signed to professional club, please what should the other do if they are not educated? What if Iheanacho broke his leg at the u17 world cup what would he have fallen back on? I have watched the best of the best at youth level go down with career ending injuries, if we don't get them educated we are just breeding touts. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:00pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: Simple again. I am not against kids going to school. I am against using school as a criteria to screen out talented players. The point is too simple. Taking away football from a talented footie youngster without education is worse than a career threatening injury. Comprende? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:01pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: Story. We have highly educated touts. Do not make books a holy grail. We have had kids without education behave better than Havard drug sniffing touts. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 2:02pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Don't u think that making education paramount would curb this educational challenge u talk about? We need people to ensure we don't kill ourselves. We need men and women who will step into the leadership shoes of this country. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:07pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: No one said do not educate. You are still at the same place. Educate. Run an education revolution. Build as many schools. Make education free and accessible. Create jobs for parents. There are thousands of things to do to boost education. When it is time to select FootieBallers, select the best ballers regardless of their education background. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:16pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: I think it is time you look in the mirror. You called kids sent abroad without education Dullards, slaves and touts and then turn and say it is me. That was all you. I have said, if a kid is not doing well in school but he can play ball, let him play. If a kid does not have a chance to education but can play well, let him play. That is no way calling Nigerian kids dullards. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:19pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: Taking away football from a student who loves and plays footie well is not helping him but destroying him. No one says do not educate him but do not take footie away from him. Do not use education as a tool to rob him. Let education not be used as a criteria to take football away from him. Finito. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 2:26pm On May 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: U are still calling it taking away. The child has a chance like all the others to do well in school. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:28pm On May 06, 2017 |
BascoVanVeli: As long as school is not a criteria to select the player, I see no one having trouble with that. |
