But I told you In a previous post that I find our educational system limiting and not expansive enough and thus I seek a change to it..... didnt I pen those words?

About the coach carter system I have looked at all possible indexes/variables/indices/factors already.... and I am telling you that it can work......

If the concept is allowed to strive and given just a three-five years run.... I believe it will or can work wonders with our kids.... But ofcos... we are just talking... no one in the top echelons of our society is even looking in this direction....

P.S: And about Crude Oil Transport using Intrastate or interstate huge pipelines... it is an idea from america specifically from John D. Rockefeller himself in his hey days as a bad-ass Oil industrialist. Ever heard of Standard Oil? that broke up into Chevron, ExxonMobil and a few more?

Yep...that was Rockefeller's baby... wink

we brought thus idea into our oil industry and it has worked wonders for the way we produce oil in thousands and thousands of barrels per day...... so plsss don't "wtf" it! angry Na something abeg....

safarigirl:
WTF is crude oil transport?

Do you know why it can't work in Nigeria? As a scientist, I would expect that you would factor in variables when making suggestions. Don't just go on a gut feeling...

What is your educational system like in Nigeria? A system that doesn't even work on a normal day with normal students, you now want to implement a special educational method for footballers?

Is it those small boys on the streets just looking for how to eat one meal per day that you want to force to school? Na you go pay their school fees? Or will there be some scholarship system in place for people whose talents you're not even sure of?

Ideas tend to look much better in one's mind than in reality

double post.... so lemme just drop something....

Arsenal seem to be coping well with this 3-4-3.... Wenger has borrowed a leaf from Conte... Hmmmm.... I hope Iwobi fights his way back to be able to feature in the system in case this is Arsenal's newly found formation....

Ilechukwu Reveals More Euro Opportunities For NPFL Hotshot Odey

 7 May 2017
 Headlines, Nigeria League

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

MFM FC coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has exclusively told Completesportsnigeria.com that five European clubs are still interested in signing Nigeria Professional Football League leading scorer, Stephen Odey, despite his failed move to FC Midtjylland of Denmark.

Odey underwent trials at the Danish club without the approval of the Lagos club, but the issue was resolved and expectation was rife that the scorer of 14 goals in the current NPFL season will sign the dotted lines ahead of next season.

Ilechukwu while speaking with Completesportsnigeria.com Sunday morning, disclosed that there are still interests in his player and denied any wrongdoing in the player's age records which reportedly scuppered any deal from working out at FC Midtjylland.

"Stephen Odey is back to Nigeria. We are happy to receive him back, but I want him to rest for now, so he will not be involved in our State FA Cup final against Spartans. He will rejoin the team soon," Ilechukwu told Completesportsnigeria.com.

On the news that broke in the week that there were discrepancies on the age of the player in his international passport and in his international clearance, Ilechukwu unequivocally stated that Odey has done nothing wrong.

"Nothing happened to his age. Odey's age is what is on his passport, No falsification," Ilechukwu asserted.

"I don't really know what happened in Denmark, I wasn't there, but as I'm talking with you now, more than five clubs in Europe still want him. He is that good. The offers are not coming from our rivals in the league here. MFM is one of best teams in Nigeria.

Odey had exclusively told Completesportsnigeria.com on Thursday, hoping to sign for Midtjylland and strike up a good partnership with fellow Nigerian, Paul Onuachu.

Hibernian Defender Forster Admits Ambrose’s Influence On His Progress

 7 May 2017
 Headlines, Top Stories

Hibernian young defender Jordon Forster says he has learnt how to become a better defender from Nigeria international Efe Ambrose and other senior defenders at the Scottish championship winners.

On Saturday, Hibernian were presented with the Championship trophy after playing a 1-1 home draw against St. Mirren with Ambrose playing 90 minutes.

Despite not being a regular with Hibernian this season, Forster, 23, acknowledges that courtesy of Ambrose and the other experienced Hibernian players, he has improved as a defender with the ball on his feet.

"I know I am not playing every week, but I’m becoming a better player through training with the guys here," Forster tells Edinburgh News.

“I’ve learned a lot from all the guys: Darren McGregor in how he defends one-on-one, Efe and Paul [Hanlon] on the ball, Liam Fontaine’s leadership. I take bits from them all.

“I’ve probably learned the most from Daz because defending one-on-one in isolated situations is where I need to work hardest," Forster says.

Ambrose joined Hibernian on loan from Scottish Premier League champions Celtic in January, and was instrumental in the club winning the second division title and also promotion back to the top flight.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner was voted Scottish Championship Player of the Month for March.

Same thing played out with Ben Carson... his own olodo-ism is legendary....

And also many black kids out there.... and hey I schooled in Nigeria naa... and I tell you this. If a child is labelled conclusively as not having the ability to catch up or learn anything... then believe me, all haven't been tried yet to make the child actually catch up and learn something....

Do you know that even Albert Einstein was labelled unteachable by his teacher in his primary school days? But same Olodo went on to become the brightest science mind of the 20th century.... Food for thought. (selah)

Could this be true in any way? Moruf Yusuf for leftback? What about Rohr looking the way of Jordan Torunarigha soon?

I don't know about this story.... can't say if it is true.. but lemme treat it as speculation as usual....
...............................................................................................

Zamalek Star Moruf Yusuf Gatecrash Eagles Squad For France Camp

The coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has called up Zamalek of Egypt star Moruf Yusuf to join the Eagles squad for their get together in France.

The official list of players called up for the game will be released by the coach next week, with Moruf the shock name in the list which has been delayed by a week.

An assistant of the Franco-German coach contacted the 24 year old who can also play as a left back aside his original role as a midfielder. The move by the coach is to provide cover for regular left back Elderson Echiejile.

Moruf will team up with the squad for their camping in France and could play in the friendly game against Corsica, which will serve as the build up as part of the preparation for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa.

Ex Flying Eagles Captain Ajagun Chips Late Winner To Lift Roda Out Of Relegation Zone

Former Flying Eagles captain Abduljelil Ajagun was once again the hero for Dutch side Roda JC, scoring late into time added on to gift them a 1-0 win over Willem II.

Ajagun’s winner lift Roda away from the relegation zone as they are now placed 15th with 33 points, two points off the relegation play offs spot.

Two weeks ago his brace earned them a 3-1 win over Sparta Rotterdam. Overall he has scored four goals this season for Roda where he is on loan from Greek side Panathinaikos.

He has played in 30 league games since the start of the season, picking up four yellow cards and a red card from his role as the central midfielder of the Dutch side.

The 24 year old captained the Nigeria U-20 side to the 2013 World Youth Championship in Turkey, in what was his second U-20 World Cup after starring in Colombia during the 2011 edition.

Captain: Listen up Youngster... what will you do if the storms come and our boats start to lose some balance?

Young sailor: Sir, I will throw an anchor over into the water to stabilise the ship...

Captain: What If another storm comes? what then?

young sailor: I will throw over another anchor....

Captain: (becoming a little pissed) Okay, what if a final storm shows up, what then??!

Young Sailor: Sir, I will get another anchor and throw it in...

Captain: (angry) Hey! young man! where are you getting all those anchors from sef?

Young sailor: Sir, Same place you are getting all your storms from naa .... grin

What am I saying? Being negative to the extreme just because you wanna make a point does not diminish the fact that this can work..... wink

Fantastic anecdote. Reminds me of John Lennon's words:

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life."

When people say foreign solutions don't work, all I ask them is to show me a local solution that has really worked.

The best solution is a marriage of the two. The countries making headway today, that's what they've done. From China to Singapore to beautiful Rwanda.

Deny a child education and you've taken one of the most important things in life away from him. The world is a global village and education is such a great leveller. A child that is not literate because we believe 100% that he will succeed in the gamble called football is being set up for a life of regrets in this time and age.

Asking the question, should we take football away from a child that fails, is like asking should we take food away from a sick child that will not take his drug. That a child will vehemently refuse to take his drug is the fault of the adult. That a child will not learn to be literate is the fault of the teacher.

I asked you earlier but never got a reply, are you aware that there are other ways to educate someone without sending them to school?

The problem with both you and supernerd is that you think education is a one-way street.

Okay...you say you want footballers to be better educated, but they don't like schools. What do you do?

Has either of you considered the possibility of taking school to the streets?

Rather than all this " pass exams, get good grades" and all that. Educate them about the careers they want to delve into, organise a thirty minute session if you can, before they get to kicking balls. Tell them of the possibilities that await them, the good and the bad, the legal perspective and the cultural one.

These cases you cite of Iheanacho signing multiple contracts and such, it is not because he did not go to school. There is NO SECONDARY SCHOOL anywhere in Nigeria or Africa that will teach you on how to sign a contract. None!

So, how would his getting formal education in a secondary school have avoided that? Or you think everyone who goes to secondary school ought to know these things? Even University graduates in Nigeria don't know about contracts

Instead of both you and TheSupernerd to be speaking big grammar on one Coach Carter system, I expected you guys to bring up something that can work in Nigeria. How will learning Physics and Biology help Iheanacho to avoid signing the wrong thing?

Educate them, but educate them on things that will help their immediate venture- football. If they feel unfulfilled after their sojourn in footy, then they have the option to further education.

Ben Carson was the worst Olodo Rabata child you would find in his area in those days.... abi you wanna argue that one too? you think it is exaggerated how poor and dull he was before he picked up?? cheesy

And yes The Coach Carter concept will work for evey child... if it could work for blacks in the united states in slum areas and regions known for drugs and violence and also with black kids so dull all they knew was booze and sex at such tender age and also again with kids who initially had no direction in life as all they knew was the robbery and death they see on the streets daily...... then yes it will work for all children.... smiley

The secret to education is not first of all information, is not swamping the mind of the child with knowledge. The first and the most important thing is having a good relationship with the child, a relationship that engenders confidence, trust and makes the child willing to learn. Most children will stubbornly lock their minds until they sense the personal touch and interest of a teacher.

When one makes raw knowledge the criteria then it's easy to label those who don't measure up as olodos. Book intelligence is not the only form of intelligence.

Our best teachers are often those who take a personal interest in us and those we take interest in.

I have not seen the movie on Carter concept but I feel it would work out well for every child but we have not succeeded yet with the normal school set up in Nigeria not to talk of a Carter system that would be more demanding and possibly more expensive. But the idea taken by itself in my opinion has wonderful merit.

But I have said here... again previously that Life is the real school and that I have great disdain for formal education itself in most institutions in Nigeria only on the aspect of its limiting sides.....

But again... I have personally found a way to marry my educational pursuits and my development as an all-round human outside the education curriculum. But that is me....

And again Safari.... in School, we are exposed to different tutors... and since we speak about marrying Football and Education in schools, then there is no way some subjects won't be created about Football ethics and the business side of the beautiful game. In the Coach Carter concept.... the kids were not just taught Maths and English or physics.... they were taught beyond that and that is why some of them who will go on to play their game professionally (in this case, basketball) got good deals and made nice career decisions..... You are misunderstanding what kind of education the coach carter concept will come with.... and I am trying to help you understand.

Sir BascoVanVeli and I do not see this as a one-way thing.... we are talking Dynamism here at its very best. We cannot deny the importance of formal education despite my personal disdain for the fact that it can be limiting (if that is one's only niche and focuspoint) considering how it is in Nigeria..... Formal education helps in some good ways to open up the minds of the kids and help them solve some issues in ways they wouldn't have if they weren't exposed to such education....

In the coach concept, The important and basic subject requirements will be taught and also football will be taught.... amongst other things and then their nurturing on field continues with good and dedicated coaches....

So don't misunderstand us. This can work and it will be very good and exciting if allowed to strive.

P.S: And I have given my answer on what happens if a talented child fails to pass a subject.... I think I have already touched that in one of my many replies for Sir Icon4s... I made my stand known because the coach carter concept can be accomodating but also a way and even better approach will be created without fuss for such a special case so as to make him move forward and not miss out on the beauty and benefits of both worlds... Football and Education.

Well said Sir.... child-teacher relationship.... very important. smiley

Honestly, in the coach carter concept this is what was applied firsthand on the kids. Coach Carter got the teachers of these kids to make out time and ensure that His players were also high flyers in the classroom as they were on the Court. Even one very stubborn Ruiz or so with an afro... (Safarigirl will find the guy that played his (Ruiz's) real life character pretty handsome and good looking wink ).... was somehow reached out to and he was made to see the benefits.... and he became not just a better player but also a much better man.

This is something that can work and should be encouraged if we are really really looking at building "men" for tomorrow and not just players...

The Coach Carter concept isn't a white man concept Dear Safari... wink

It is a Black man concept .... checkmate! grin wink

P.S: About medicine... yes... you are right, you won't need to go to a school. But I am just making reference to a host of then who end up not practicing but will be in emergency situations where their exposure and experiences gained from learning all those years may come in handy to save another life maybe on a plane flight with no certified doctor in sight or maybe in a store... And I have seen Guys who aren't certified docs help with childbirth in some emergency situations, most of them studied medicine or a biomedical course to some degree and even graduated.... the knowledge came in handy and not many will learn this without going to a school.... Not everybody is a Vivien Thomas.... Life is dynamic.... smiley

Meanwhile Guys are dying over you here oooo..... wink

As at Last count... You are more sought after than Henry Onyekuru himself....

Sirs SirManjar, Icon79, Do4luv14 and possibly a few more are scrambling for your "signature".

Maybe we should wait till the summer for your decision.... wink

The truth is, that is how the ancients understood education and it was so for a long period of time until learning factories (formal schools) were popularised and promoted by Horace Mann in the 19th century. I'd recommend for you to read John Gatto's underground history of American education. You can find a pdf copy online. It makes for an interesting and eye opening read.

Home schooling is another alternative we can explore. It's very well utilised in Europe and America.

Obafemi Awolowo, after doing an extensive study and comparative analysis of the educational systems of different countries in the world did craft a blueprint of an educational system that took cognisance of our peculiar need as a developing nation . It's documented in his book 'Thoughts on the Nigerian Constitution' and one other of his books I was shown recently by a man though I didn't take note of the title of the book. And it beats me hollow why reference is not made to the sage wisdom of Awolowo by policy makers as far as education is concerned and marrying his thoughts with contemporary ideas and developments in the world of education, school and learning.

We are living in an age of rapid change and dynamism. Boundaries are being pushed, human consciousness is expanding. Formal, hierarchical structures are experiencing unprecedented changes and even dissolution. We must respond, adapt and embrace the reality of a world that rides on alternatives rather than pigeonhole everybody into one system.

Ndidi wants top half finish for Leicester
by Sammy Wejinya

Wilfred Ndidi is keen to play his part to help champions, Leicester City finish in the top half of the table in this season’s English Premier League.

Ndidi scored his second league goal of the season on Saturday to help the Foxes beat Watford 3-0 at the King Power Stadium.
The Nigerian midfielder says he will be delighted if performances are translated to positive results which will in turn help the side secure a finish in the top half of the table.

“We are playing with confidence and if we continue on this path, we will keep getting wins and amassing points in every game we play,” Ndidi told LCFC TV.

“Everybody has been working together. There is a good spirit (in the team) and also from those on the bench including the manager (Craig Shakespeare).

“Everyone is alive as we try to get more wins.

“As a team, we are trying to finish as high as we possibly can.

“We take each game as a final and will try to take as much points as we can; that’s the only thing we can do now.

“With three games to go, I think we can get the results that will help us finish in the top half of the table,” he said.

The 20-year-old Super Eagles man has proved to be a big hit for Leicester since arriving from Belgian side, KRC Genk for €17.6 million euros in January.

He has now scored three goals in 21 matches in all competitions for Leicester City this season.

i am not against education, I am against formal education.

Stop saying people's kids won't be allowed to play football because they can't get six credits in WAEC/NECO...no be University admission dem dey find
