Olarenwaju Kayode Nets Goal Number 21 Of The Season

Super Eagles and Austria Wien forward Olarenwaju Kayode increased his goal tally to 21 for the season by scoring his side only goal in their 1-1 draw against Rheindorf Altach in the Austrian League.

Kayode netted in the 39th minute to draw his side level before the half time break, his third goal in his last two games in the league for Austria Wien who are eyeing an European spot.

The forward who made his debut for Nigeria in their last friendly game against Senegal in London, now has 14 goals in the league, two in the domestic cup and five in the Europa League before they crashed out.

His tally of 21 goals makes him Nigeria’s leading marksman in Europe this season, and the second top scorer in the league two goals behind leading scorer Deni Alar who plays for Sturm Graz.

23 year old Kayode has grown in leaps and bounds since moving to Austria from Israeli side Maccabi Netanya just before the start of last season. Already he has bettered his last season tally of 13 goals with six games left to play in the league.

He will be 24 in a few days.

Ur idea of the struggle is funny. How will u have time for school when ur have real world issues to attend to? Keep in mind this is someone that has never been in a classroom so where do u expect the urge of going to school to come from?
I am glad u think musicians sign slave contracts but let me ask u this, ever heard of any of them signing 2 slave contracts?
Why should we go in the streets when football will bring them to school? The last thing we should be talking about is children failing. This will bring out the best in the children. I don't get why u are against education, that is a human right.
I don't get why you don't understand that I am not against education generally. Do you have problems grasping my imability to endorse your preferred formal education?

I mean, if you are a product of form education and you claim it is the best, then you should be able to understand that I am not against education. I have suggested the forms of edcatoon you can administer, but you're either not seeing them, or formal education is failing you

BTW, if grown adults can sign slave contracts, then tell me why a young, impressionable kid who has finally seen the light out of his world of squalor will not sign anything they drop at his table?

He played U17 with Omeruo, Olaitan, Onazi, Ramon, Ajagun and others at the 2009 U17. At least you have also been hearing those names almost for ever. He also played U20 alongside Musa, Nwofor, Shehu, Madu, Ndidi, Simon, Aminu, Usman, alongside some of the earlier mentioned players.

Olaitan's heart problem appears to have derailed his career. He was in top form before he collapsed on the pitch and had to take time off the game to recuperate. Thankfully, he survived it.

Look education is the same all over the world. There is no developed country where the children don't get formal education. People have died and are dying for their children to be able to go school.
That slave contract thing is just talk. People know what they sign but when they feel they are worth more they cry slave contract. Never the less, my point doesn't hinge on that as it was just a foot note.

Brilliant. There are many things not taught in schools. Because of this excellent post I would like to seat with u and talk about some plan of mine as regards improving Nigeria's education sector. It's time to give back positively so we can truly empower our next generation.

safarigirl:
i am not against education, I am against formal education.

I asked you earlier but never got a reply, are you aware that there are other ways to educate someone without sending them to school?

The problem with both you and supernerd is that you think education is a one-way street.

Okay...you say you want footballers to be better educated, but they don't like schools. What do you do?

Has either of you considered the possibility of taking school to the streets?

Rather than all this " pass exams, get good grades" and all that. Educate them about the careers they want to delve into, organise a thirty minute session if you can, before they get to kicking balls. Tell them of the possibilities that await them, the good and the bad, the legal perspective and the cultural one.

These cases you cite of Iheanacho signing multiple contracts and such, it is not because he did not go to school. There is NO SECONDARY SCHOOL anywhere in Nigeria or Africa that will teach you on how to sign a contract. None!

So, how would his getting formal education in a secondary school have avoided that? Or you think everyone who goes to secondary school ought to know these things? Even University graduates in Nigeria don't know about contracts

Instead of both you and TheSupernerd to be speaking big grammar on one Coach Carter system, I expected you guys to bring up something that can work in Nigeria. How will learning Physics and Biology help Iheanacho to avoid signing the wrong thing?

Educate them, but educate them on things that will help their immediate venture- football. If they feel unfulfilled after their sojourn in footy, then they have the option to further education.

Stop saying people's kids won't be allowed to play football because they can't get six credits in WAEC/NECO...no be University admission dem dey find

I have an idea of a form of education that will work in Nigeria. I believe it will be the best system in the world. It's not necessarily new in it's every aspect but it's very different from the formal education we've always known. One thing about our formal education even to the university level all over the world is students are not taught with empowerment in mind which is why we lack many entrepreneurially-ready graduates with leadership skills, but what we have is a majority who graduate with only one thing in mind -- finding a "good" job. That's not the reality of the century we live in. That mindset belongs to the Industrial Age. And this also applies to our young footballers. I will stop at that. I have a dream!

I have observed a trend with most of our arguments. We tend to ignore the ''born of contention'' just to pitch a tent with faults or emerging issues from the arguments just to nail somebody. It is not fair oooooo.

Someone will not followup on a particular argument properly, will just pulp up after picking emerging faults as the argument progresses to paint a wrong pictures of the whole thing.
It can be so stressfull most of the time.

I can vividly recall TheGoodJoe's stand on this whole issue before this recent argument(precisely on Yahaya). 'That a kids educational status should not be a reason why his talent will be allowed to waste away.

So what exactly are we arguing. Dragging endless lines

Thank you my brother. This whole argument started from a simple statement by Bascovanveli: 'if you cannot pass then you cannot play'.

And they have drawn a map of the whole of the Northern hemisphere when they were just supposed to draw a simple map of Nigeria.

What about my stand? Didnt you and the others carefully read through all I have been saying? It is you guys doing the dragging of endless lines.....

Sir TheGoodJoe asked his question and I clearly dissected them in one or two posts. Then Chief Icon4s came up with his "It cannot work because it is Nigeria" talk and the argument shifted to that one.... so what endless lines am I dragging??

Sir Icon4s started bringing up negative scenarios of "that one child" or "group of kids" who be Olodo Rabata(s) who cannot be teachable no matter what or even that one child who will always always fail. Then my song was "It can work", " It can work" and I dropped a little story analogy of the captain and his new recruit in trying to point out how he was approaching the situation. So how I am "dragging endless lines"??

And just yesterday again, Sir TheGoodJoe still wants answers for something I have already dropped answers for. Haba!!!! abi u no see that one??

Abeg Sir Terzurum5... try to be fair even if you don't stand with the Coach carter school of thought.... You are the one now popping up and jumping in without understanding the progression of the debate and the other angles that were arising..... just halt it coz it is not cool. Chikena.

Chelsea's Nigerian Wonderkid Enters Bristol City History Books, Wins Three Awards

English-born Nigerian striker Tammy Abraham scooped three awards at Bristol City's End of Season awards on Sunday, May 7.

The England U21 international enjoyed a fine season at the Robins and picked up the Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer awards.

In doing so, Abraham became the first player to win the three main awards in the same season.

The 19-year-old, who spent the whole of this season at Bristol City on loan from Chelsea, netted 26 goals in all competitions, including 23 in the Championship to win the top scorer award.

The Disabled Supporters Association and Senior Reds also handed him their Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards.

Abraham will return to his parent club Chelsea, but is expected to join a Premier League team next season, with Leicester, Everton, Newcastle and Brighton all interested in his signature.

Osimhen Remains Upbeat Despite Bench Role For Wolfsburg Vs Frankfurt
By George Obi

Former Flying Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, remains upbeat despite not making his debut for Wolfsburg in Saturday's win at the Eintracht Frankfurt's Commerzbank-Arena, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Wolfsburg spanked Frankfurt 2-0 in a Bundesliga game to move up to 14th in the Bundesliga log with two games left to play.

Second half goals from Daniel Didavi and Mario Gomez handed Wolfsburg their tenth win of the season.

The Nigerian youth international was an unused substitute for the second game in a row since regaining full fitness from a knee injury that kept him out of action for two months.

"I'm patient and gradually getting into the team. Hopefully, I could make my Bundesliga debut before the end of the season," Osimhen told Completesportsnigeria.com.

The 18 year old forward also took to his photo sharing page on Instagram to express his delight at Wolfsburg win at Eintracht Frankfurt.

He wrote: "Thank you Lord. Unable to make my debut against Eintracht Frankfurt, but I'm happy at the result."

Gero strikes in Oestersunds win
by Sammy Wejinya

Alhaji Gero scored on Sunday to inspire Oestersunds FK to a 2-1 victory over Hammarby in Sweden’s Allsvenskan on Matchday 7 of the competition.

The Nigerian attacker struck on seven minutes to temporarily peg the scores at 1-1 after Serge Martinsson-Ngouali had put the visitors in front at Jämtkraft Arena.

Jamie Hopcutt eventually netted the winner for the hosts in the fourth minute of second half added time to send the home fans into fits of hysteria.

The win lifted Oestersunds FK to fourth on the league standings, three points adrift of the leaders, Malmo FF who have played a game less.

Gero will look back at Sunday’s game with mixed memories as he was shown a red card in the 87th minute for a second bookable offence.

The 23-year-old former Kano Pillars striker has previously played for Viborg (Denmark) and Oster (Sweden).

I dunno for Sir Icon, but as for me, if after Secondary school my kid says "I'm done with formal education"....I'll ask, what do you want to do? Check how feasible it is, and give my support. That is what makes you a parent

Will you put your child down because he or she has refused to take YOUR preferred path? Are you the kind of parent to use emotional blackmail on your kid?

If you know how many unfulfilled people litter Universities and this country, you won't be asking such a question. At least 70% of people in schools are not doing what they love and they are miserable there. How can you not acknowledge that? Just because you are happy with books does not mean everyone is or will be

Your way is not the only way.

I already know your answer.... Looolll

This is why the question goes to Chief Icon4s.... not to you.

And again... I didnt say "after secondary school"... I said before or during the course of secondary school. Since I am being accused of forcing kids to learn when they don't want to.

Your talk on emotional blackmail bla bla bla... is off point. I know what kind of parent I am going to be. But this is a simple question for the the one who says a child should not be forced to even learn in high school since football is his calling. I wanna know What his stand will be if this child happens to be his very own child as I know he is a father already.

And it is not my way... and it is not the only way... I have told you times without number.... Life is the real school. So stop misunderstanding me.

@Bolded... if you think I am not aware of this. Then you underrate me big time. Haven't I said I hate the limiting sides of our current educational system?? Haven't I said I seek a change to it? why do you choose to keep ignoring what I say in order to make a point that does not even relate to me?? *smh*

Sir Komekn also answered... so why are you now saying what you are saying?... it is laughable considering you are sounding like you have forgotten what I and Sir Komekn said..... including our stands.

If my child says he doesn't want to continue with school but face football instead, then no coach must stop my child from playing for the national team because he is no longer interested in going to school.

That has been my argument.
