I can't continue to imagine what would've happened to us if we still had GEJ and Mama Peace at the helm of affairs Asides respect for a former Head of State; GEJ is a dull man who can't manage a Kiosk, let alone marry an intellectual lady with all his questionable degree SMH Please Note: The truth hurts 6 Likes |

Fashola must be hard on these people. They knew the problems beforehand, so why the complaints. Perhaps, they think the government will support their useless excuses. 1 Like |

"Load Rejection"When I heard the new terminology in the Nigerian power sector I weak. How can you reject load when the consumers don't have power at all. All in a bid to reduce what is remitted to GenCos. Naija we hail thee. 1 Like 1 Share |

We need to stop putting the cart before the horse. Most of this DISCOs don't even know the number and power requirements of the consumers in specific areas. That's why you hear transformers blowing up etc. Why can't they do a consumer audit then supply the right equipment for each segment of the market. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Nigerians may have to stage protests against these Discos. We are not slaves to the law. Where the law prevents licence revocation at our expense, a state of emergency needs to be declared asap. We should not take this anymore. 2 Likes 1 Share |

alsudaes1:It is amazing that the Minister is always silent on the matter of Prepaid meters. He should be more emphatic on that because the more people are metered the more the Discos will be forced to supply light. Right now, they make money supplying darkness and that should worry the Minister! 1 Like 1 Share |

murmee: Fashola hasn't been silent on issuance of prepaid meter. In fact, he introduced a kind of recognition to Discos who go all out and ensure that their customers get the meters. It's not something the minister can force them to do sadly. http://sparkonline.com.ng/2016/03/fashola-orders-discos-to-give-prepaid-meters-to-nigerians-instantly.html 3 Likes 1 Share |

opethom: I even doubt if you have knowledge of what privatisation means or do you still expect govt to be financing a privatised sector 100% after it has been privatised? Which country (both developed and developing) has privatised one of its most important sector (power)? This is a sector that needs huge and constant finance and capital outlay which Govt may find it difficult to carried out and not those mini-entrepreneaurs to whom GEJ transferred the ownership of Power to. This can only be done under the one with PhD certificate in Animal Science/Fishing? without a common sense. Take a look at telecommunication sector today which was.privatised during OBJ: can you.compare it with Power? You need a deeper knowledge instead of just opening your mouth like an hungry Bingo. 6 Likes |

Of all de economic atrocities that jona govt commited, selling discos to porfolio companies of crooks like emeka offor, tinubu, abdulsalami etc was de worst. They should hav learnt from gsm license sales and gone for serious expirienced investors and not mere politicians. 1 Like |

woodcook: But your ineffectual Buffon was so shallow in his thinking to transfer the ownership of Power to entrepreneurs who has no track record of financial buoyancy to take the sector to a greater height because of what he will benefit. Was it not under PDP that telecommunication was.privatised? Then, why are we not getting the positive results we have derived to the extent that we can call at cheapest rate in history nowadays. Thank God he didn't win, may be he would have privatised your destiny into the hands of other.bidders too because I know you will still be pleased with it so far it is done by PDP. 1 Like |

mansakhalifa: Revoke the licenses and then do what. Isn't it clear that if there is no performance across the bnard that it is the structure of the power sector that is at fault. When it was privatised what they did was to break up the old PHCN into unworkable independent units. What is the meaning of GENCO and DISCO. In advanced countries there is just the power company that generates, transmits and distributes. It is like saying Nitel was broken up and MTN bought satellite access, GLO bought the masts and switch boards and Airtel bought the fibre optics and copper cables. That is absolute rubbish and unworkable. Which bank will fund this disjointed arrangement. If they cannot see value from gas supply to consumer units they will not invest. The issues of gas supply debts, power rejection are just some of the signs all parties involved are not working for the same business interests. Yes, the privatisation is a horse that has bolted but the horse can be pursued, caught and ridden. The process can be repaired with the consent of all parties involved. The government should encourage mergers and consolidation into no more than three of four companies with each posessing generating, transmitting and distribution capabilities. 4 Likes |

Omonigeriarere: You know you can still pass your message without calling the past administration names? I wouldn't want to go round in a cycle with you while we both rant about what is and what is not. If you could please post data or charts that show that power generation is better under the present administration than during the time of the past government? Once you post it, I can discuss with you based on evidence and not sentiments until then hold your peace! |

bareal: The clauses in the contract makes it difficult for the contract to be terminated. If the government does that, it'll send a very wrong signal to the investment community and there would be so much losses coupled with the fact that the discos can take the FG to court. 1 Like |

Those who want the license of the Discos revoked. Note that 1. They have borrowed a lot of money from the banks and have invested a lot 2. They have so many workers under their platform If their contract is revoked, how do you expect them to pay off their debts running in billions? Do you know that part of the money you and I have saved in the bank is what has been borrowed Again, if their license is going to be revoked, remember our loved ones working for them would be laid off and would add to the unemployment crisis we have. Revoking of contracts is not the solution please. |
