Celtic Target Odey Says Let Bygones Be Bygones, Wants Permanent Super Eagles Shirt

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC net buster, Stephen Odey, has tendered an unreserved apology to the club's management after his botched move to Denmark.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leading scorer with 14 goals who has just been handed an invitation to the senior national team, the Super Eagles of Nigeria returned to his team last weekend after the controversial trip to Danish club FC Midtjylland.

"Right now I need to remain focus because many things have happened in the past and I want to plead and apologize for everything that has happened but now I'm looking forward to the Super Eagles assignment.

"For me to claim a permanent shirt in the team, well I think I need to do more of what I normally do before on the field of play and outside the field of play.

''I need to play to the coaches instructions by so doing so I believe I will be a regular in the team," the teenage striker disclosed to mountaintopfc.com.

The likes of Celtic and Club Brugge are keeping tabs on the situation of Stephen Odey ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

What is the true story behind Odey's trial? Did he fail the trial or is it age discrepancies? How does he ensure that he does not get age discrepancy issues again if true..

Why is he apologizing? Would he be apologizing if he was offered a deal?

I know a school teacher in England that was failing in Nigeria he was what you call an "Olodo" he had dyslexia and he was considered a no hopper a NFA a forward player for Dundee United.

Today he runs the most successful education center in the whole of the North West of England. His students regularly win academic accolades, and he has taken on a lot of the so called Olodo's and made them into A star students from year 1 to A/levels he has exceeded all expectations.

So I am forced to disagree with you as my first hand experience tells me something very different. By the way I am not a teacher.

I have just put my sister's son who was failing very badly in the USA. He is now progressing on account of this school. It is not cheap but it's great value for your money.
Quite an inspiring story. Thank God for all the olodos who go on to become brightlights. They often do not forget their shame, their travails during the dark times of their lives when their creative genius was slumbering, lying fallow, waiting for an auspicious moment to come alive-they often become beacons of hope for other olodos. They are the ones who can look at a current olodo and say with every sense of conviction 'see boy, see girl, you ain't no olodo, just like me, you too can become anything you want if you set your heart on it'. Children always love such people because they are vessels of hope and light.

He is apologizing because he was wrong to go on trials. Any deal would hinge on MFM so he had to apologize.

Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi gets philosophical on life at the King Power Stadium

NdidiGoal

"One man cannot make a team, but a team can make one man."

Wilfred Ndidi – midfield enforcer, goalscorer, all-round nice guy and now you can add philosopher to his list of attributes.

The 20-year-old has shown a maturity beyond his years both on and off the pitch since his £15 million move to Leicester City from Genk in January.

He made his debut in English football in the FA Cup at Everton, which wasn't exactly a gentle easing into the club, then he made his Premier League debut against champions-elect Chelsea, shortly before he took his Champions League bow in Seville. He seemed to take it all in his stride.

His emergence is even more impressive when you consider the constant comparisons with N'Golo Kante, the man he has replaced in City's midfield. He even takes questions about filling Kante's size six boots in his stride..

City were struggling to continue to play their productive 4-4-2 system until Ndidi's arrival but he says he was never intimidated by the prospect of being seen as Kante's successor.

"I was never scared of coming here because I always believed if I got the help of team-mates and if I worked hard everything was possible," said the Nigeria international.

"Yes, I am different. I never compare myself to anybody.

"I really cannot define it [his difference to Kante] because I just play.

"I didn't watch many of the games from last season when they won the league, I just came to play and with the help of the coach trying to push me and make me understand how the team works I feel everything is working out well for us.

"I must say it is a good team for this. It is not just me coming because one man cannot make a team, a team can make one man.

"I feel the team is more important than anybody."

Ndidi's third goal in a City shirt on Saturday paved the way for City's impressive 3-0 victory over Watford and City's seventh win in ten games since Craig Shakespeare took over from the man who signed him, Claudio Ranieri, and Ndidi said the current City boss had helped him develop into a more attack-minded player.

"He has helped the team generally and for my own game he has helped me," said Shakespeare.

"I sometimes start to just stand in front of the defence and play simple but he just pushes me and tells me I can do it and just go forward.

"That's why sometimes I get goals.

"With the help of the coach and my team-mates everything is possible.

"They are always trying to push me during training and let me know I can do more."

Ndidi missed out on the incredible title triumph and joined the club when the reigning Premier League champions were struggling desperately, but he believes he can experience more success with City in the future.

"The run we are on is amazing but we still need to push more to get more points," he said.

"We just need to get more points if we can and see where we are in the table.

"If we keep our heads up and try to push we can do much better next season."

Leicester City's poster boy Wilfred Ndidi has the stage all to himself

Wilfred Ndidi scores City’s opener against Watford

In every Leicester City match-day magazine, there is a large souvenir poster for those younger (or even older) supporters who want to put their heroes on their bedroom wall.

For the visit of Watford, rising star Wilfred Ndidi was the poster boy – and it was a fitting selection.

He may be only 20 years old and has been in the Premier League for only four months, but what an impact the gangly Nigerian has made.

It was almost a year to the day that City entertained Everton amid a memorable party atmosphere at the King Power Stadium, complete with Andrea Bocelli, Nessun Dorma, fireworks, a biblical thunder storm and ultimately the raising of the Premier League trophy.

Ndidi was not there. The night before City's party raged, he had played and scored in a 2-0 win for Genk at home to Waregem. He was an unknown to most people. Not any more.

The poster boys of City back then were Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, the men who had captured all the headlines as the 5000-1 shots defied the odds to become Premier League champions.

The pair, who had emerged from equally humble backgrounds as Ndidi, were on fire and lit up the Premier League.

Back to good old days

The duo have found it difficult to recapture that magic this season but, since Ndidi came into the side in January and found his feet, there has been a re-emergence of that City, and the stars of Vardy and Mahrez have started to shine once more.

When City lost N'Golo Kante, the then-manager Claudio Ranieri began to search for the answer to how they would cope without their key midfielder.

He did not believe they could play in the same way without such an effective cog in the wheel. He changed formation and personnel, searching in vain for the solution.

Ndidi is at pains to point out he is not Kante. And he is right.

There is only one Kante, but the younger Ndidi's energy, enthusiasm and athleticism has allowed current boss Craig Shakespeare to revert back to the winning formula of last season.

The reliable and familiar 4-4-2 returned, with Ndidi alongside Danny Drinkwater in the engine room, and suddenly it looked like the old City again.

City have now picked up 22 points from the 10 games under Shakespeare. Only Tottenham have a better points return in that period with 24. That is some transformation.

It was not quite last season's vintage in the first half against Watford.

Both sides lacked the quality in possession to take the initiative but City demonstrated they could think on their feet as the half progressed.

'His trademark jinking runs'

Watford's giant physicality made blindly pumping the ball into the box from open play or set-pieces futile, so City adjusted their approach, looking to take quick, short set-pieces to catch the Hornets on their heels.

It almost worked when Mahrez's quick thinking from a free-kick played in Vardy, who surprisingly did not look to shoot with only Heurelho Gomes to beat, and squared it instead only for Adrian Mariappa to turn his clearance against the post. However, a clever corner routine just before the break found Drinkwater standing in acres of space inside the Watford penalty box.

He clipped over a cross which the visitors could not clear, and Ndidi was on hand to smash home the loose ball.

Mahrez had looked a disgruntled figure last week when he was substituted after an ineffective display at West Brom, but he began to grow in confidence as this game wore on, taking on defenders with his trademark jinking runs.

He can change direction on a penny.

It was Mahrez who killed off Watford with a brilliant individual goal, capitalising on some poor defending from Mariappa before slipping the ball between Gomes' legs from an acute angle.

The best football of his career

City were now purring and it was one of their unsung heroes who was catching the eye even more than Ndidi and Mahrez.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is probably the only City player who has really enhanced his reputation even further this season, and he pulled off some good saves again to keep a second consecutive clean sheet. But Danny Simpson and Marc Albrighton have been equally consistent.

It was Albrighton who came to the fore with some exciting moments of skill to beat Watford's leaden legged full-backs and his outstanding display was capped with City's third goal in added-time to wrap up the win.

The 27-year-old does not capture the headlines like some of his colleagues, probably because he does not score as many goals as perhaps his play warrants, due mainly to his unselfishness.

But Albrighton has been an excellent and reliable servant for City, and he is currently playing the best football of his career.
There should be a space on that wall for Albrighton as well, alongside the rest of the City poster boys.

West Ham should consider £16m Leicester City flop Ahmed Musa
By Dan Coombs

Ahmed Musa is looking to a Leicester City exit. West Ham should consider re-igniting their interest.

Leicester City's Ahmed Musa scores

Ahmed Musa scored regularly in pre-season for Leicester City last summer and seemed set to take the Premier League by storm.

The pacy striker signed in a £16 million move from CSKA Moscow, the BBC reported, although has struggled to make an impact for the Foxes.

Similar in style to Jamie Vardy, his chances were harmed by the England striker's decision to stay, and then the club's move to bring in big money forward Islam Slimani.

The Mirror report Musa is looking for a summer exit, and he is a striker West Ham should take a look at.

Leicester City's Ahmed Musa shoots at goal

The Hammers tried unsuccessfully to add quality strikers last summer, and Musa's previous record suggests they should take another look, despite his paltry tally of four goals this season.

Goal reported that West Ham made an approach for him a year ago before he signed for Leicester, after his 14 goals for CSKA the previous season.

Leicester City's Ahmed Musa celebrates

After trying to overpay or match huge offers for unrealistic players last summer, Musa represents a chance for West Ham to bring in a talented player for a knockdown price after an underwhelming season.

The 24-year-old is a Nigeria international with everything to prove ahead of next summer's World Cup. West Ham would be getting a highly motivated player keen to prove a point, and if they really get lucky, they may be able to tempt Leicester into a loan move.

Leicester City transfer rumours: Ahmed Musa could leave if more strikers sign in summer – reports
By James Sharpe

Ahmed Musa scored both goals as Leicester City beat Everton in the FA Cup

Ahmed Musa could leave Leicester City this summer if the club bring in more strikers over the summer, according to reports in the national press.

The 24-year-old has struggled to force his way into the City first-team this season, having made just seven Premier League starts since his £16million move from CSKA Moscow last July.

Expectations of Musa's quality grew after he scored a stunning second-half brace against Barcelona in the International Champions Cup last pre-season.

The Nigeria international has scored four goals in all competitions: two in the Premier League, in successive games against Crystal Palace and Tottenham in October, and two in the FA Cup victory at Everton .

Musa, though, is currently behind Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki, Leonardo Ulloa and Islam Slimani in the strikers' pecking order, while Marc Albrighton, Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray are all ahead of him in the wingers' stakes.

The Mirror report today that Musa could consider his future if City do, as expected, look to strengthen their attacking options even further in the summer.

City boss Craig Shakespeare believes that some players who come from abroad, such as Musa, need time to develop and adapt to English football.

"Lot of players who come from abroad take time settle in," said Shakespeare. "Some hit the ground running, some need a pre-season."

Kelechi Iheanacho and Man City should part ways this summer
By Simon Bajkowski

The Nigerian looked to have a bright future at Manchester City but his opportunities have dwindled

Pep Guardiola joked earlier this season that Kelechi Iheanacho needed a new coach if he wanted more game time.

Nine months since the Nigerian committed to Manchester City until 2021, it is increasingly difficult to find a good reason for him not to take his manager's advice.

His selection in the Manchester derby back in September appeared a significant moment in his career initially.

He scored in the 2-1 win to end United's 100 per cent record and earn a start in the next league game against Bournemouth, which he also scored in.

Just three more starts have followed though, the last of those coming on January 2.

From being one of the most exciting prospects, the arrival of Gabriel Jesus has more or less shunted Iheanacho out of matchday squads completely and he looks certain to end this season with fewer starts and goals than last year, when it felt like Manuel Pellegrini was holding him back.

The warning signs were even there for the derby game in September when the manager suggested his selection was more about the symbolism of a striker and that Iheanacho was "the only striker we had in that moment".

In January, his absence from squads was explained by saying City hadn't created many chances "for this kind of player".

In short, Guardiola doesn't value what the 20-year-old can offer.

That shouldn't read as a slight on either - Sergio Aguero also learned that goals are not enough in this coach's teams.

However, the Catalan has shown a willingness to act when players have changed his thinking.

Yaya Toure has forced his way back into the team, Aleks Kolarov and Jesus Navas have surprised in new positions and Fernandinho has popped up in most areas of the pitch.

That has not happened with Iheanacho despite absences for Aguero and Jesus, which suggests a permanent move would be better for him than a loan.

Even without factoring in new additions that the transfer market can provide, it is hard to see how a year at another club could do any more to convince Guardiola than what he has shown in training for the last year.

Better for the player to take his talent elsewhere to a team that does suit his playing style. A clinical finisher, Iheanacho should not have a problem finding that - German high-flyers Hoffenheim are one of the clubs said to be interested that could offer him Champions League football next season.

For City's part, they should make a handsome profit on a player who appeared on their 2014 tour and bolster their funds for what is expected to be another busy and expensive transfer window.

It will be a shame if Iheanacho does leave, but it is surely best for all parties.

Newcastle given boost in pursuit of 19 year old Goal machine

Chelsea are prepared to loan out striker Tammy Abraham to another Premier League club next season, giving a boost to Newcastle’s chances of signing him, according to the Daily Star.

The forward has been in excellent form playing for Bristol City in the Championship this season, scoring 23 goals in 41 league games.

The 19 year old is said to have impressed his parent club with his performances but it looks unlikely he will be given game time under Antonio Conte next season.

Abraham is said to be one of Magpies boss Rafa Benitez’s summer targets, but the Spaniard will have to fight off a number of other teams, including fellow promoted side Brighton, Everton and Leicester City, for his signature.

Benitez is reportedly seeking assurances from Newcastle owner Mike Ashley about the backing he will receive in the transfer market, and a meeting has been scheduled for this week for the pair to have discussions about the plans for the summer.

THREE REASONS RANGERS SHOULD SIGN PROLIFIC CHELSEA STARLET LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE (NOT SOLANKE)
By Matt Bullin

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha should do everything in his power to bring Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham to Ibrox on loan next season.

Amid the Daily Record reports that Celtic are making a move for Dom Solanke , Caixinha should move for his team-mate, Abraham.

The 19-year-old has been on loan at Bristol City this season, where he has been in prolific form, scoring 23 Championship goals in 41 games.

He is likely to be available for a second consecutive loan spell given the forward options available to Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Abraham became a fan favourite at City and won their Player of the Year award, the Young Player of the Year award and the Top Scorer award.
Here are three reasons why Rangers should move to sign him.

Goals

Abraham has bags of goals in him. This season he finished as one of the Championship’s top scorers despite his side battling relegation for much of the season, before eventually finishing 17th. With Kenny Miller not likely to play past next season, the Gers need someone to lead the line and Abraham can do just that.
Despite his age and inexperience, he obviously has quality and is a great finisher. We have seen Celtic reap the rewards of putting faith in a young striker (Moussa Dembele) this season, so Rangers should do the same with Abraham next year.

Silverware

There is a genuine chance of winning silverware at Ibrox for Abraham. The Gers reached the Scottish Cup semi-final this year, and the final last year. So whereas being loaned out to a Championship side or a second-rate Premier League side would give him more experience in the English game, why not spend some time with the Gers and win some silverware.

Man City loanee Patrick Roberts could win a treble with the Hoops this term, Abraham would stand a serious chance of winning something if he were to move to Rangers next year.

Europe

Rangers will be competing in the Europa League next season – a first European campaign in five years. Caixinha’s squad needs strengthening, and in the unlikely chance Abraham does not find his shooting boots in the Premiership, the Europa League is the perfect chance to use him and rest the other strikers.

Rangers will need a clinical finisher in Europe where goal scoring opportunities are often few and few between – Abraham fits the bill. It works both ways too, because by playing in a European competition, the 19-year-old adds something else to his footballing CV, and he could even impress Europe’s elite.

The more games I play the better I get, says Chelsea’s wing-back Victor Moses
By Ed Aarons

After four largely forgettable seasons on the club’s books the Nigeria-born Londoner has become a key player for the champions-elect under Antonio Conte

It was a decision that would change his career at Chelsea for ever. But as Victor Moses prepared to embark on his fifth season at Stamford Bridge since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2012, the first he knew of it was when Antonio Conte broke the news before their trip to Hull City on 1 October.

“He didn’t say to me: ‘Do you fancy playing wing-back?’ He just put me in there,” Moses recalled after the 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough on Monday that took Chelsea to within three points of a fifth Premier League title.

“After that he just kept on encouraging me and went through it with me, what the position was all about, mostly in training. And constantly he was talking to me in training to make sure I was improving in it, talking me through it. I took that in and I didn’t look back.”

Nearly a decade since he made his first-team debut at Crystal Palace at the age of 16, Moses has finally come of age.

The schoolboy superstar who arrived in London as an asylum seeker after his parents were brutally murdered during religious riots in Nigeria’s north-western Kaduna province in 2002 is now an integral part of the Chelsea team having spent the best part of four years on the bench or on loan.

Before this season he had made only 12 Premier League starts for his parent club, with the spells at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United having failed to convince José Mourinho of his worth. The arrival of Conte, who admitted he found it “incredible” how sparingly his predecessor had utilised him, changed all that. Moses has played an integral part in the Italian’s 3-4-3 system.

“I have always believed in the ability that I have got,” Moses reflected. “I have always known that I’ve got the ability to play in a big club like Chelsea. I have proved that. We have got a manager here that is willing to give everybody an opportunity.

“To be honest, I just wanted to play football,” he added. “It was at Hull that it all started. I really enjoyed it and I took everything in. I kept watching the video of myself after the Hull game, to make sure I was in the right place, and after that I took it in and kept on improving.”

A regular in England’s youth teams, Moses opted to switch allegiance to Nigeria in 2011 after growing frustrated with his lack of recognition. He was voted into the team of the tournament when the Super Eagles won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations but had struggled to replicate that form for his country until the appointment of Gernot Rohr as coach last year.

Now, with Nigeria in a strong position to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia thanks to two goals from Moses against Algeria in November, he has emerged as a real contender to be named African player of the year.

“If Victor Moses wants to be [Lionel] Messi, he can be Messi,” said Daniel Amokachi, who was the assistant to Nigeria’s coach, Stephen Keshi, in 2013 and also comes from Kaduna.

“It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a player who has so many qualities. We have talked a lot. And what I told him, I told him every time. If you want to be the best that you can, then you have to work harder. In the past he was a player who can sometimes switch off. You speak to people who train with [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Messi and they tell you it is incredible how hard they work. That seems to have sunk in now thanks to Conte.”

The overall statistics do not necessarily bear that out in comparison with some of the best right-backs in the league, although Chelsea’s win percentage of 81 when Moses is in the side certainly speaks volumes.

In terms of distance covered, he is way behind Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker (272km to 312km from 32 games), while he also trails Everton’s Séamus Coleman in terms of goals and assists (three goals and two assists to Coleman’s four goals and three assists). Yet it has been his ability to adapt to Conte’s refined tactical approach which has underlined his importance to the champions-elect.

“It’s a big position. You need a lot of stamina to be able to play there, and it’s a responsibility,” said Moses. “I have been learning a lot defensively as well, the manager has been teaching me and I have taken everything in. When I play against a winger, because I’m a winger myself, I understand what they are going to do before they try and go past me, so it makes it a lot easier for me. The more games I play the better I get.”

I have been reading about Odey's Demark trial in the Danish press and from what i understand, part of the reason, it was cut short was the fact that MFM threatened to report to FIFA.

Also, most of the reports claim Odey is 19 which suggests that is his official football age.

I think I was too happy at the time to say this but Victor Moses should never remove his shirt so early in a match.
He had so much confidence on that day. He had some tackles which got me scared.

Yes you are very correct. That is how it is but that does not take away the potency of that team.

A good number of the players are emerging professionally which is why they are not getting plenty of game time.

Even with this state our team is not a push over. Go ask Senegal with all their heavy weight players.

I would not want put too much weight on a friendly match. Indicative but not very conclusive of one's progression.

That game against Senegal says a lot about our progression.

I particularly like the fact that we were down and certain substitutions were made and that added bite to the attack which led to the equalizer.

At the moment we have only 2 players.

1. Moses
2. Ndidi

All the others are either warming the bench or coming to the stadium for sight seeing on match days.

Iheanacho, Iwobi, echejiele, musa, success, onazi, omeruo, ekong (chronic bench warmers, suffered loss of form, match rusty)

Mikel, Ikeme (injury)

Leon balogun (battling relegation)

Osimen (untested)

Hopefully Rorh;s extended camping should shake the rust off most of them. Otherwise, we are far from being world beaters or making it past the 2nd round at the world cup next year.

In that regard I am at loss why Sone Aluko and Onyedinma were not invited.

Add to that the forgotten Efe Ambrose who has had a great season at Hibernian.

To put it in context they are promising but yet to deliver, which may or may not happen.

When you consider Ryan Ssegnon is 16 years old played a full season in the championship as a left back and scored 5 goals. Every top team in the premiership has him on their shopping list. Price £20 million plus.

If you are good enough you will be given a chance. Just like Tega Abrahams now a top striker no longer just a top prospect.

where was he failing in Nigeria?

You do know that if you are failing in a Missionary school in Nigeria, you will excel in a Government school 70% of the time.

The education levels vary here, I speak from experience. So, you need to be more specific sometimes.

And the method matters as well, a lo of people are unaware of the types of education, they can't see past that one style they know.

He was failing in government schools in Warri and Benin city not sure which ones. He is 35 now so it's quite some time ago.

He was then able to come to England and go to university with a more understanding and flexible environment. He obtained first and mast degrees here after being dumped in Nigeria and called a "Olodo" empty head, Dundee United, etc, etc

My sisters teenage son was failing completely in a school in California USA. But now he is progressing rapidly.
