Usman has been on trial with Barca so he must have been successful if he has been offered a deal. But he is most likely going to play for Barca B. There is no real progression from there. Ekpolo played in Barca B and he is now in playing with a lower league side in England.

The name Barca is good but Barca B is still Division 3.

Bucs Goalkeeper's PSL Debut Looming

Orlando Pirates' Nigerian Goalkeeper moving up the pecking order

Orlando Pirates’ Nigerian goalkeeper, Emmanuel Daniel, is said to be impressing the technical team with his performances in training and high work-rate.

The young shot-stopper, who made the switch to Bucs from Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers, is seemingly making progress at the Soweto giants in the few weeks he has been with the club.

In the most recent game for Bucs, which was against Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend, Daniel was included in the 18-man match day squad for Coach Kjell Jonevret and his technical team.

The 23-year-old sat on the substitutes bench for Pirates and deputised for Jackson Mabokgwane as Bucs went on to lose 2-0 against the Brazilians.

“It wasn’t very surprising to see him (Daniel) making an appearance on the Pirates bench because he has been working very hard in training since his arrival at the club. He is a very good goalkeeper. It won’t be long before the supporters get to see how good he is when he gets a chance to play,” a source told the Siya crew.

Recent media reports from Nigeria have suggested that Daniel could be set for a call-up to the Super Eagles squad. He has done well as the number one goalkeeper for the Nigeria U23 side during his time with them.

Exclusive – Ligue 1 Side Nice, Brighton Sound Out Celtic Outcast Efe Ambrose

Out of favour Super Eagles and Celtic defender Efe Ambrose is currently courting interest from French Ligue 1 side Nice and newly promoted English Premier League side Brighton.

Ambrose’s loan spell with newly crowned champions of Scottish Championship side Hibernian will terminate at the end of the season, and the defender will return to his original owners Celtic in the summer.

However his deal with Celtic will run out in the summer as well, meaning he will be a free player in the summer. A condition which has alerted some top teams in Europe especially his performances for his loan side Hibs.

Although he is leaning towards staying at Hibs so as to stay close to his family, French side Nice have inquired about his availability from his representatives who has close links with teams in France.

The 28 year old almost joined Bastia in January, but the move broke down as Ambrose opt to remain in Scotland, where he is due for citizenship in few months time.

His agent who also arranged for him to move to Blackburn Rovers, a move which collapsed due to work permit issues has been proposed to newly promoted English Premier League side Brighton.

He was offered to the team last week, but they are yet to decide on making a move for him, leaving Hibs as the only team who have formally approached the defender over a move in the summer.

Akpoveta up and running in Sweden
by Sammy Wejinya

Oke Akpoveta scored twice on Monday night to inspire Swedish club, Helsingborg to a 2-1 victory at Åtvidaberg.

The win was enough to see Helsingborg climb to second place in the Superettan (second tier of Swedish football) with 12 points from six matches.

Akpoveta who scored 10 goals in 13 league matches for his former club, Frej last season has taken quite a little bit to stir from hibernation this term as he failed to score in his first five previous games for Helsingborg.

His first goal on Monday night at Kopparvallen was not from open play as he dispatched a penalty in the 16th minute to put the visitors in front.

The attacker netted his second on the hour to ensure that Jon Birkfeldt’s 85th minute strike represented nothing more than scant consolation for the hosts who currently sit one place from bottom in the 16-team log.

Akpoveta has previously played for clubs like Brøndby, R?van, Brønshøj, Lyngby and Dalkurd.

Gent Wing Wizard Moses Simon Will Be Fit For Nigeria Get-Together In Paris

Gent winger Moses Simon is available for Nigeria get-together in Paris later this month, amid speculations that he will not recover in time to join his international teammates.

The 21-year-old was not in the Gent squad for the Belgian First Division A playoff game with Oostende this past weekend due to a hamstring complaint, prompting fears that he will be struggling to be fit before reporting for international duty.

''Moses Simon has a slight hamstring injury but he should be okay for the weekend match,'' a top source close to Simon told allnigeriasoccer.com when quizzed about his availability for the training camp.

This season, Simon has appeared 41 times for Gent in all competitions and has contributed to 12 goals (5 goals, 7 assists).
He started Nigeria's last friendly against Senegal in London two months ago.

Celtic In The Driving Seat Ahead Of Liverpool For Chelsea's Nigerian Prospect

Scottish champions Celtic have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race for the signature of Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke, it has been claimed.
Several reports in the Scottish press, including Daily Record and The Sun, suggest that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is interested in snapping up the England Under-21 international.

Solanke's contract with Chelsea is expected to run out at the end of this season and he has not yet signed the new deal offered to him, which has led to interest from some of the top clubs in Europe.

Apart from the aforementioned clubs, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the situation of the 19-year-old.

He has played nonstop at Chelsea for the past thirteen years, though he had a loan spell at Vitesse last season.

Ex-Chelsea Star Mikel Makes Himself Available For AFCON Qualifier Against South Africa

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel would have sufficiently recovered before Nigeria takes on South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier, the Nigeria Football Federation have reiterated.

The Super Eagles skipper underwent surgery in England on April 29, which is expected to rule him out of action for a minimum of three weeks.

Mikel has been left out of the Super Eagles get-together in France, but the Nigerian Federation have revealed that he will be in the squad to face South Africa in a month's time in Uyo.

“The match is a month way and Mikel should be fit in time for the game,” NFF assistant technical director Lagunju was quoted as saying by scorenigeria.

“It’s important he’s part of the team because he is a driving force, a role model to many of the players. He’s leadership qualities are second to none.”

Both Mikel and Tianjin Teda have announced that the Nigeria star will begin his rehabilitation this week.

I don't care one bit about the Corsica friendly. That French territory is just a small island. I think the highlight for me is the get-together which will give Rohr another opportunity to blend the familiar players and take a look at the new players. Even our U-17 team can execute this friendly successfully, which is why I don't care who Rohr fields for the match. It would have been better if we had played a French club side. Anyway, friendly na friendly.

Musa nears Leicester exit
by Sammy Wejinya

Ahmed Musa could be on his way out of English Premier League champions, Leicester City less than 12 months after joining the club.

The 24-year-old Super Eagles man joined the Foxes from Russian side, CSKA Moscow for £17 million last July but has failed to hit expected heights at the King Power Stadium.

Musa, signed by Leicester’s former manager, Claudio Ranieri, has struggled for regular first-team action with goals scored at a premium too.

He has made just seven starts in the Premier League for Leicester City this season and the Daily Mirror is now reporting that the former VVV-Venlo man is edging towards the exit at the King Power.

In total, Musa has managed just four goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes.

The Nigerian frontman also fears he could find himself even further down the pecking order if, as expected, Leicester dip into the transfer market to revamp their strike-force this summer.

In his last 20 appearances, he has scored only twice — and both of those came in the same game, a 2-1 win at Everton in the FA Cup on January 7 that he began on the bench.

In contrast, Musa’s compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi who arrived at the club in the January has thrived fuelling speculations that the former is struggling to settle into life in England.

Odey , Olatunbosun Promise To Impress Rohr , Justify Super Eagles Call - Ups
By Izuchukwu Okosi

Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC pair Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun have both expressed their joy at the invitation extended to them by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr for the team's training camp in the French island of Corsica ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on June 10, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Leading scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 14 goals Odey, and Olatunbosun were among the four home-based players named on Monday evening in the 25-man squad for the training and planned friendly against Corsica.

FC Ifeanyiubah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Akwa United's Alhassan Ibrahim are the other players from the NPFL that made the cut.

"Naturally I 'm delighted that the national team coach extended an invitation to me," Odey told Completesportsnigeria.com on Tuesday.

"It will not be easy to get a regular spot in the national team with the talented players the team possess now. But I will not be scared. I will give my best in training or in the friendly."

Olatunbosun told Completesportsnigeria.com: "I have been commended quite alright for my performances so far this season but I must admit that though I really want to play for the Super Eagles, this one can as a pleasant surprise. I thank the coach.

"I will work hard to justify it and I hope my efforts will be good enough."

The Eagles ' camp will officially be opened on May 23.

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC net buster, Stephen Odey, has tendered an unreserved apology to the club's management after his botched move to Denmark.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leading scorer with 14 goals who has just been handed an invitation to the senior national team, the Super Eagles of Nigeria returned to his team last weekend after the controversial trip to Danish club FC Midtjylland.

"Right now I need to remain focus because many things have happened in the past and I want to plead and apologize for everything that has happened but now I'm looking forward to the Super Eagles assignment.

"For me to claim a permanent shirt in the team, well I think I need to do more of what I normally do before on the field of play and outside the field of play.

''I need to play to the coaches instructions by so doing so I believe I will be a regular in the team," the teenage striker disclosed to mountaintopfc.com.

The likes of Celtic and Club Brugge are keeping tabs on the situation of Stephen Odey ahead of the opening of the transfer window.
