To put it in context they are promising but yet to deliver, which may or may not happen.

When you consider Ryan Ssegnon is 16 years old played a full season in the championship as a left back and scored 5 goals. Every top team in the premiership has him on their shopping list. Price £20 million plus.

If you are good enough you will be given a chance. Just like Tega Abrahams now a top striker no longer just a top prospect.

We are Nigeria. We are not France, Germany or Spain.

Considering our level of football development, our leagues and administrative issues we are not at par with the world super powers.

I am not saying the boys have delivered. Delivered what sef?
WC or AFCON tickets? I have decided not to raise my hope too early on the team but what I do is as the team keeps progressing(of which they are) my expectations progress with them.

If you've followed my comments all these years on this forum you'll know I am not the type that
hype players any how.

that is like one in a million do you know how many olodos who where force to study that didn't make it? And if these olodos where left to persuit their talents e.g football, music, handwork e.t.c would have been a different story

with the education in nigeria you still end up jobless

Come to my area and see graduate in farms everyday suffering and those who persuit their handwork are leaving comfortable

YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT.

The problem is not the children the problem is the teachers and or the teaching system with its inherent culture, norms and values.

A lot of teachers in Nigeria adopt a rigid parochial memory retention delivery. As opposed to a flexible understanding teaching approach found in Europe and N. America and some other places.

I remember when I was doing my Masters at a Russel group university in England. In a lecture theatre and I didn't agree with my Professor I expressed my opinion. He simply sat down and asked me to deliver the lecture, which I did, my Professor felt I knew more and being flexible asked me take over.

When I finished my Masters I was offered a PhD studentship with a stipend ( paid monthly allowance)

If that was Nigeria I would have been kicked out of the class and would probably be made to fail. You go de challenge prof. R u mad.

Finally come to England and see people making coffee and capachino with thier degrees and masters in Costa Or packing shelves in Tesco or Asda.

Lookman Haruna started coming to U17 camp 3 sets before he had a breakthrough in 2007. I believe he was made captain out of seniority having been in camp more times than other players.
This was made known to me by a confidant who trained with the team.
No surprises here.

NIGERIA’S HENRY ONYEKURU WANTED BY PREMIER LEAGUE TRIO

by Graeme Jackson

A trio of Premier League clubs are keen on signing KAS Eupen’s Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru.

The Daily Mail reports that Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all keen on signing the 19-year-old in the European summer.

The Nigerian youngster has hit a hot-streak of form for Belgian club Eupen in recent times and netted his fifth goal in the space of seven games in their 2-1 loss to Genk on the weekend.

In all he has managed 18 goals for the club this season and is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young strikers in Belgium.

The country’s heavyweight clubs, Anderlecht and Club Brugge, have reportedly made handsome offers to land the player, but his preference is to go to the Premier League.

If Southampton really wants him, it's a no brainer for him to pen a contract with them. I rate them as the most professional with handling and unlocking of the potentials in young players.
Henry will definitely thrive in such an environment.

Exclusive – Ligue 1 Side Nice, Brighton Sound Out Celtic Outcast Efe Ambrose

Out of favour Super Eagles and Celtic defender Efe Ambrose is currently courting interest from French Ligue 1 side Nice and newly promoted English Premier League side Brighton.

Ambrose’s loan spell with newly crowned champions of Scottish Championship side Hibernian will terminate at the end of the season, and the defender will return to his original owners Celtic in the summer.

However his deal with Celtic will run out in the summer as well, meaning he will be a free player in the summer. A condition which has alerted some top teams in Europe especially his performances for his loan side Hibs.

Although he is leaning towards staying at Hibs so as to stay close to his family, French side Nice have inquired about his availability from his representatives who has close links with teams in France.

The 28 year old almost joined Bastia in January, but the move broke down as Ambrose opt to remain in Scotland, where he is due for citizenship in few months time.

His agent who also arranged for him to move to Blackburn Rovers, a move which collapsed due to work permit issues has been proposed to newly promoted English Premier League side Brighton.

He was offered to the team last week, but they are yet to decide on making a move for him, leaving Hibs as the only team who have formally approached the defender over a move in the summer.

Don't know but it is very worrying for Nigeria. He may just be given a senior caps so as to quash all hopes if him playing for Nigeria.

Very cynical but that's my suspicions, then they will leave him to rot on the international scene.

Quite an inspiring story. Thank God for all the olodos who go on to become brightlights. They often do not forget their shame, their travails during the dark times of their lives when their creative genius was slumbering, lying fallow, waiting for an auspicious moment to come alive-they often become beacons of hope for other olodos. They are the ones who can look at a current olodo and say with every sense of conviction 'see boy, see girl, you ain't no olodo, just like me, you too can become anything you want if you set your heart on it'. Children always love such people because they are vessels of hope and light.

Without you ever meeting him you have just given a very apt description of his motivation and person.

I did not.

The reality is that within the whole packaging (marketing) of a player age falsification is intrinsic to its success.

The fact that it is impossible to verify or substantiate anybody date if birth in Nigeria makes the whole process very easy.

There is progression MRI has helped but at least you don't have men of 25/26 being paraded as U17 anymore.

Which league? U13s? Or U15's? If you mean NPFL then that's not possible.
A 50yr old can play for any team if he meets the physical demands.

If I remembered my point clearly then, sticking to the point. I made reference to his interview on a digital edition of magazine, that based on the information provided about his graduation from secondary school, club experience etc, his declared age was most likely not true.

I see Efe Ambrose breaking into the Super Eagles world cup team. Although it all depends on how he handles his transfer this summer. He's the right kind of guy to take to the world cup age wise and with his experience in consideration.
Its a no brainer if he's playing at a decent level next season. In my opinion.

South Africa/Nigeria: Rohr to Name Different Squad for South Africa

Contrary to the belief in some quarters that the list released Monday would be the same squad for the AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has said that the list of players released yesterday was solely for the team's training exercise in France and the Corsica friendly game.

" Not at all," the Franco-German tactician clarified, adding, "this is not the list for the clash against South Africa. It's just for the camping in France and the friendly against Corsica. The list for the South Africa tie will be out later in the month."

Continuing, the coach said, "The camp in France is to see some of the young players we have in the team, and also gauge the level of fitness of some of the players who have not been playing a lot for their teams.

"After the friendly against Corsica, we will release another list which will be for the game against South Africa in Uyo, with some players returning while those who impress during the camp in France will also be included "

I agree with you mostly.

However, our boys wherever they come from Europe or directly from Nigeria. Will have to compete against promising young players based here. So if they cannot cut it in thier respective clubs. The expected progress may be difficult.

Also you can support and be patriotic about your team without loosing objectivity, not you.

The less sentiment expressed the more objective and the better we are prepared to compete.

It's in this context I am bewildered why top performing players like Onyedinma and Aluko have not been invited.

I want the best available players to enable Nigeria progress. Not the most connected players who will limit that progression.
