Sometimes I laugh at the reasoning of some of you guys lol.

Dude, ask yourself why the official was shocked. See my friend - such entourages are so ancient here in Kenya we pity countries whose presidents still do that. Such entourages are synonymous with dictatorships and used to happen in Kenya during dictator Moi's regime.

See, former president Moi once visited New York with an entourage of private jets, military jets and state jets as was his. The following day, New York papers headlines read "Pauper arrives in style" ridiculing what lengths presidents of some third world countries go to to show might. That was Kenya of those days when our president moved around like the president of the world. Meanwhile the president's of very wealthy presidents only move around in a single state jet and one or two military jets. Currently here we viewed that kind of opulence so backward and archaic - something we used to do when we were 'young and stupid'.

You think other countries don't have people who own private jets? No buddy, they do. It's just that other countries have matured. They see no reason why the president and a small delegation should go around in several private jets when a single state jet and one or two military jets are enough.

We were actually laughing at you - not impressed with you.
Don't ever quote me out of context again!

Did I once mention other people don't have private jets?

Did I ask if you were impressed?
no, I simply used that as an example to say that Nigeria's wealth is highly concentrated meaning you have more people in the higher bracket of millionaire-billionaire that's why the number of millionaires per capita is not as high. I used it as an example to highlight Nigeria's inequality.

I admitted that Nigeria has its fair of challenges, but your overinflated ego self had to quote me out of context to validate the illogical claim that Nigerians are more backward than Kenya. Next time, make sure your "non-backward/archaic" country scores better than Nigeria on the Corruption and the inequality index.
I used to think Nigeria's corruption and inequality was the worst until I saw Kenya's statistics. Private jet or no private jet, it doesn't concern me, your country in reality has many issues including endemic corruption and inequality.

i initially enjoy the conversation but it seems you are changing the wheel.

the hardship ghana face during the late 60.70.80 has never been experience in nigeria before even up tiil date. this was when ghanian were flocking into nigeria in search of greener pasture. so nigeria recession or current calamity should not be used as excuse.

ghana is an average country not a rich country like nigeria .yet it has an intention of world class development. this is the dream of singapore when it started. ghana policy is too strong and effective to be taken out easily. if the policy still continue and nigeria poor policy continue. Am sorry to tell you. Ghana may soon become the next dubai of west africa.

now to the education. i quite agree with you. that some of the nigeria student in ghana are those who could not face the rigorous nigeria selection system. if i may ask what is the importance in making education difficult? no advance country do that.but your assumption is not absolute. many nigerians are here in seach of quality education too. There are good private university in ghana too. Ashesi uni is one ,central uni is another. This university also aim to become the best citadel of learning. Also note in mind that the process of selection may be easy that does not mean the tuttion is not up to standard.

GERALD710:

Dude
1.Port Harcourt basically....Stinks. The place smells of fish and crude everywhere. Please do not say it is because of the oil industry.Mombasa has a refinery and imports pertoleum products for the entire region and does not smell like that.
2.Can you show even a single beach on Port Harcourt. And I mean a beach, not a sand collection site like virtually all beaches in West Africa, save for Senegal ,look like. Because they are all composed of rough yellow sand, the one used in construction.
Ours are made of sugar white soft powdery coral sand
The place is all mangrove(which we have in Mombasa, in creeks, not at the beach. And the beaches are littered everywhere!!

3.Port Harcourt has better transport facilities than Mombasa. That I very much agree!!Mombasa does not have a mono rail. However, the road system is currently being upgraded and so is the commuter rail system.
But on an estate level, Port Harcourt is a big FAIL.Most estates are covered with dirt roads.Mombasa as of 2015, is more than 70% carbopaved
4. Port Harcourt has better health amenities than Mombasa
Lawd!!!In Nigeria, not even Lagos measures up to Mombasa in terms of health facilities, leave alone Nairobi.Nigeria's health sector both public and private is CRAAAAAAAAP!!!
5.Port Harcourt has better city and more highrise than Mombasa. The last two pages showed 25 highrise already top up with others already on ground. Pls, take note that highrise is defined as structure with 12 and about floors.
No it does not.Who told you Mombasa's high rises are concentrated in the CBD alone
Port Harcourt has better vibrant Estates than Mombasa.}
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!Woooooi!!I actually come from Mombasa, we live side by side Arabs,Swahilis,Coastal Africans,Asians and more recently, Europeans like the Brits ,Italians and Germans.
Port Harcourt is dominated by one community, the Ijaw followed by Ibos, all dark skinned fellows, making the place look boring and very very very very very very very!!! Poor English!!!
Port Harcourt has better Sport amenities than Mombasa .
Yes it does. Our staduim construction has been delayed for several years now.
Port Harcourt has more refineries than Mombasa
You mean refineries that have not been working since the 1970sDude, who are you trying to fool We all know Nigeria has been importing fuel despite it being a crude oil producer. The entire Africa knows!!!
We had a functioning refinery until 2013 and according to the BBC, West African fuel is 'Dirty fuel' imported from Europe. The fuel in East Africa is actually the cleanest on the continent!! We actually made several reformes in 2005 where we banned dirty fuel.Meanwhile even plastic bottles in Nigeria are not safe!!http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-37373414
As for Industries in Mombasa.Mombasa is the second most industrialised city in Kenya and the third in East Africa. A simple google search gives you 3000 resultshttps://www.google.com/search?q=Mombasa+Industries&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b#q=Mombasa+Industries&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=-4060012,39656432,940&tbm=lcl&rldimm=6504144230609431674&tbs=lrf:!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e3!3sEAE,lf:1,lf_ui:2
So what are you talking about Mombasa has the largest Dockyard on the continent after Durban. We actually do ship repairs here!!

Port Harcourt has better public schools than Mombasa
Lawd!!!At no point has Nigeria's public school system ever been superior to that of Kenya at primary or secondary level.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Index
So No.
Plus Mombasa's public schooling is waaaaaay above even that of most Nigerian cities. Leave alone Port Harcourt.

Weweeeeee! Umechafua humu kwelikweli!

Yes, but Nigeria can never be as unequal as Kenya with wealthy people living in the beautiful CBD side by side with residents of Africa's largest and most terrible slums.
I don't know how disorganized your cities are there but here people don't live in the CBD. Talking of inequality, aren't you the same person always bragging how Nigeria has more billionaires than the rest of Africa?

Yes, the lowest income areas of Nigerian cities look slumish, but yet they are still not slums!

These pics below are pics of Festac town (outside Lagos city), but in Lagos state.
See what the average and lowest areas there look like.
I have dared Kenyans here to show me what the average, low and lowest income areas of Nairobi look like (aside the slums), but none of you guys can!

It's not about posting beautiful pics of hotels and resorts in Nairobi and Mombasa which majority of the residents cannot afford and continue to languish in slums.

A federal housing estate is what you're parading as Nigeria's low income area? Duude.

That will be suicidal. grin

The reason I said Port Harcourt should be compared with Mombasa is because I have been to the city myself and I have taken Ghanaian, Ivorien, Korean etc to the city, it left them with very good impressions. It was unimaginable that such city exit in the Nigeria they heard of the media. grin

The Ivorien was blown away, the Ghanaian called it europe while the Korean rated it above Lagos (but me I no gree that one ooo) though admitted Lagos na father. grin

The city is beautiful with wider roads, restaurants, boutiques, hotels are littered allover the city. grin etc
No Port Harcourt is a very beautiful and nice city which has been confirmed by all, little wonder it's called 'The Garden city', don't mind all these useless comparisons, those estates are damn beautiful, most of them who make these comparisons and arguments have been blindfolded by the bad things they hear, so they don't believe anything of such exists in Nigeria, little wonder most of them are wowed when they visit. If only we had constant electricity like these small countries, the level of development would be unimaginable!

I was just laughing when some of them said the pictures of Port Harcourt posted was false, why? because they never thought such level of development existed because of the stereotype...

And besides, it's quite mad to compare with South African cities that have been built hundreds of years ago.

3. Thirdly, its not my reasoning its the way the Economics of the world works. Again Countries are ranked based on Economic performance (Gdp). It has nothing to do with me. The system was invented before my parents were even born.

4.I understand in a sane world Countries should not be measured by GDP but by the happiness and satisfaction of its citizens. But hey!, those are the pitfalls of democracy and capitalism. It system is built to favor inequality. Thats why the world is upside down.

Yes, Democracy and capitalism are hailed as the best inventions after sliced bread. But look at the world around you! inequality everywhere. Don't blame the leaders they are a victim of the system.....blame the system itself.

Do you understand?

What do you mean by 'countries are ranked based on economic performance'? That statement alone is enough testament that you're illiterate. There are different rankings - for example, Kenya ranks number eight in Rugby Sevens. So is that not a ranking because it ain't GDP?

hi bro. ghana is not an exemption of hard times and military dictatorship. i can tell you that ghana hard times is not what any nigeria man we pray for. authough it is history now but it can never be forgetton.

yes singapore was not a rich country when it was dissolve from malaysia. they face hard times similar to what it is comparable to ghana but overcome it becuse of visionary leadership and good policy.

ghana leader are engaging in postive policy, mindblowing law to relax business process to make the country progress and flourish.and this executive order is working. nigerians ,indians ,lebanese are trouping in thousands to benefit from it.

ghana private uni is not weak . i say. admission process may be easy but it does not mean the tuttion is not of high standard. so many nigeria private uni might be too cheap in qulity education. the purpose of extablishing many nigeria private school is to raise profit and nothing more .in nigeria priv uni admission is flexible. Remember ghana has a public uni which admission process is even more difficult for a nigeria standard. Authough am not in support of stiff admission process. Education should be for all.

As at the last census, Nigeria was 160 million in total population, I am certain the figure has increased, but for the sake of this post we are 160 million. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) analysis of the national consumption expenditure showed that 96million Nigerians have just 20% purchasing power in the country, what this means is that inequality is soaring and the “big fish” popularly known as the giant of Africa suddenly seems helpless. Despite economic growth since the inception of democracy, inequality continues to grow as much if not more. What could be the problem?
One of the major causes of poverty and underdevelopment in poorer countries is income inequality. In Nigeria the case is even more severe, the rich is getting richer paying the poor peanuts to work for them, and the middle class is somewhat in between nonexistent and struggling to keep up while the poor is progressively deteriorating.

My friend, America is world power today mostly because of GDP(wealth, technology, infrastructures all show in their GDP despite the inequality and lower HDI by their standard). The world considers Nigeria, southafrica and Egypt as African powerhouses by African standard basically because of GDP. One of my parkistani friend some time ago was about searching on Nigeria via Google after meeting me, the first thing he searched for on google was GDP. Your wealth should reflect on your GDP and GDP per capita. Address the question, I know Nigeria's problem you don't need to vomit it out for me to see. Btw, the number of middle class is growing really fast, so those numbers are actually narrowing. The inequality index has been getting better.
Now back to the main matter which is the endemic corruption and rampart inequality in your country. Answer the question directly.

We acknowledge our problems, which you guys keep reiterating, but do you acknowledge yours? that is what makes us different, we just don't like useless comparisons which is an insult to common sense...
You can enjoy the forum cos all your forums I've visited are as boring as fvck.

Where i come from doesnt matter here.
and Im not saying my country is paradise but not as currup as Nigeria.
And no dick measuring here it is just the fact.

Kikikikiki grin.. and u are begining to sound like a kid.
who is talking about forum here.?
How does ur forum helped u in ur countries present economy situaltion. Kwaaaaaaaa grin
