In truth the marginal difference btw these controllers and also compared with normal controllers does not justify the huge price difference. Instead of spending huge sums for few additional watts why not get a panel to knock of such advantage. Many of us have capacities that are 50% or less utilized so there is really no point unless its for remote monitoring or some form of tracking or connectivity

Saipro:

No such thing as a best, as your requirements and application would determine utility.

For the commercial versions:

- Xantrex followed up from Trace and is pretty good. Perhaps the cheapest of the lot.
- MorningStar MPPT is touted as having the best DC-DC converters (their SureSine inverter is literally unbeatable in efficiency, sorry for digressing)
- Magnum is touted as having the highest amps output. New firmware upgrades keep improving performance. Lots of input from Outback and Midnite (as developers).
- Outback is largely the brainchild of the guys who developed Xantrex. Lots of improvements and tons of new features.
- Midnite. The self-acclaimed industry standard. Has a few features not seen in others. Guys who developed the Outback went on to start Midnite. Pretty pricy too.
- Then there's SMA, odd one out of the top players but pretty nifty too. Prefers to work alone. Or be boss when working with others.

That's the evolution. Also, pricing tends to follow the ordering in the list. Where MorningStar excels at DC-DC conversion, Outback and Midnite excel at tracking the maximum power point. You decide which is more important to you (I prefer tracking here because of the rapidly changing insolation levels from cloud cover interference).

PS: You are most unlikely to fully utilise the potential of either Outback (FM series) or Midnite (Classic series) charge controllers. What are you really looking for (asides reputation and stability)?

I am trying to lookup the Yachi / Yahsun and Yingli solar panel brands on the internet, I am just trying to lookup these China brands to compare with all these well know European brands,
I was able to find the Yingli website but I couldn't find any website for Yachi / Yahsun brand, I know that many people has used it and a dealer on this forum is selling these unit, can anyone who has used these unit comment on this brand, I will appreciate a link to the manufacturer website also.

that is how they kill the economy all in the name of doing business, they are the first to shout when they see politicians loots, how do u want the person that sold the batteries to you feel?

There are many ... probably thousands of Chinese PV manufacturers out of which about 20 stand out as tier 1 (The likes of Yingli, Trina, Canadian Solar, Jinko,CSUN etc) The above have 2.5 to 4GW production capacity per year and have fully automated production facilities spread around the world most tier 1 solar producers have close to 10 years experience at module production and are also vertically integrated meaning they produce their own solar cells and wafers . Behind the Tier 1 are the Tier 2. This include the likes of Solarland, Felicity, etc. They have limited production capability usually sub 500 MW per year and their manufacturing process are usually semi automated. They buy solar cells and wafers from tier 1 producers and invest little in R & D Most tier 2 have ambition to be tier 1 but lack the lack the financial musle..

Last is tier 3. These are the bottom of the barrel and the most numerous of the bunch (about 90%). they have the least experience. Their operations are limited to assembling panels using components manufactured by other companies (i.e. no R& grin

operations of their own), and their production processes are highly reliant on manual labour. soldering and the likes are done by hand. They have zero RnD.

From my limited study of the solar panel market in Nigeria. What we have dominated are tier 2 and tier 3. Our level of economic development, purchasing power and lack of Quality Control means majority of panels in our market are tier 3 panels.

How do u spot tier 3. I have spoken to a few members on here back stage on the need to do more to review product we use so as to help each other. As a rule of thump. what I do is to first look at the panel and do some background check on the manufacturer. Most of the panels sold in Nigeria don't have a traceable production company. The few that have website from they site you will not this is not a serious company. I will not name names so as not to soil the market potential of some of us into sales of solar panels.

Tier 3 don't mean a panel won't work or it is bad. In fact some tier 3 panels serve and serve. Yet it is important for one to note the risk he is taking.

Back to your question, if u searched online and do not see any trace of the panel manufacturer, most likely it is a tier 3 panel or as a good friend on here would call them.. "Black China"

The goal of every business is to make profit, not abnormal profit; the margin was too much. The truth is most of us take your price to be 'as is'. For instance when you advertise price of panel etal we all believe it to be the absolute price.

With this experience, it means next we see your product advert we have to haggle for a far lower settling price considering that your offer price might be 250% margin.

You still talking like u got any personal issues .. Did u ask any poster if 50k was mandatory or forceful without room for negotiations as you didn't mention? If he stated a price, and put negotiable... Contact him see the item, buy if you are okay with item. If not it's not by force,

I will say this again, if the price in shop A, and you see shop B selling for half the price, it is simple.. kindly work to shop B, without referencing or making shop A look like a thief....

I have communicated with him before, and today as well, I commend his customer relationships skills, Even on this thread he was polite with his responses on this matter...

Hello house,

I have a 3.5kva Sukham inverter system with a setup of 8 pieces 250w mono panels, 60amps mppt charge controller and 4 200amps batteries

The issue I am currently having right now are:

My solar panels are positioned in a way that after 1pm my panels aren't getting enough sun light due to the position of My house(the panels are placed on the roof of my house)

I have a problem with a Trojan battery as it discharges faster than the remaining 3 batteries

My inverter usually goes off at 2am in the midnight with minimal or no load on the system

When I'm on nepa inverter cuts off when there is drop in voltage..

I would like my honorable members on this thread to enlighten on how to get the best out of my systems..

I know some members will fume being too quick to offer my chip of little advice or help.
just imagine, national grid has dipped low again, imagine again the built up anger with non solar users. As solar enthusiast & DIY, i know solar-is-able therefore it is my joy to offer my piece of advice within the limit of my experience, of course it may be considered not optimal showing reasons for other DIY to learn.

so Oga sensisosu,
what i garnered from previous discus on flooded ba3 particularly Trojan, I don't think you have a serious problem. I believe that ba3 has caused ur bank to drain too quickly because itself has not been properly charged by inverter or panels. so consider doing limited load & equalization charge of 15.5v for about four hours for about a week am sure u will see signs of recovery.

on your panels not receiving enough sunlight. I discovered I am guilty of same during installation of my setup too by schematicaly laying Panels vertically instead of horizontally. laying horizontally extends surface area to more sun while it travels from east to west. like guru dmerciful & other mentioned. the angle of elevation can also work wonders.

I submit that you don't tamper with ur sulkam please.
