My guy, we do acknowledge our problems. We know that our country is far from perfect, the reason we push our govt hard to solve these challenges, and the pressure on the govt to act has all the more intensified since the the advent of the true democracy and freedom of speech in the country.
We throw the shades at u, not out of spite , but because we feel u are too haughty and very disrepectful towards the other countries in Africa.

Now, the last census was conducted in 2009, (every year ending with a 9 is a census year in Kenya, since 1969).....and it established that Kenya had a total population of about 38.5mln.
Back then, Kenya was divided into 8 administrative units called provinces, and they were widely deemed as inefficient in as far as effective governance and equal shareout of the national cake was concerned. A new constitution was passed thru a plebiscite that recommended among other things, the total overhaul of the Kenyan administrative units- eliminating the 8 provinces and the hundred of districts, replacing them instaed with the 47 counties.

They new constitution carried the day, and it was ultimately promulgated in 2013. As u can see, this is a very recent system of governance in Kenya.

Now, regardimg your question on the counties population estimates...this Wikipedia info was sourced from the Kenya Bureau of Standards statistics.....

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counties_of_Kenya

Okay, great.
Then with this, one can clearly ascertain the exact population of Nairobi metropolitan area

I have read about your counties. Why didn't your govt just call them STATES? Cos it's obvious that's what they were somehow meant to function as.
Although, compared to Nigerian states, they seem to have less power and autonomy.

Hahahahahah!

Let us look at this this way
Port Harcourt has better and complete transportation system and amenities than Mombasa e.g better airport, Mono rail, Inter - city rail, sea Port, bridges and good road network.
Port Harcourt has better public health amenities than Mombasa.
Port Harcourt has better city and more highrise than Mombasa. The last two pages showed 25 highrise already top up with others already on ground. Pls, take note that highrise is defined as structure with 12 and about floors.
Port Harcourt has better vibrant Estates than Mombasa. grin
Port Harcourt has better Sport amenities than Mombasa
Port Harcourt has more refineries than Mombasa

Port Harcourt has better public schools than Mombasa grin

I don't know much about the numbers of industries in Mombasa but I can tell you Port Harcourt has many industries. Check this and give me the link to industries in Mombasa. grin

http://www.businesslist.com.ng/category/industrial-services/city:port-harcourt

I will provide pictures of gigantic manufacturing companies latter. grin

Thank you NairobiWalker .. I kept putting it out there that the Nigeria GDP is 90 trillion naira . Converting this to Dollar gives a GDP under $300 billion dollars ..

What happened to push the GDP to the level in 2014 was as a result of re-basing of the economy by the previous government .. the other thing you need to consider is that Nigeria maintains a fixed exchange rate system controlled by the central bank unlike the flexible floating rate system you'll find in modern economies .. this fixed exchange rate somehow makes their GDP look impressive but that's not the reality on the ground .. I've shared a report on this from Reuters before .. that'sā€‹ why you find multiple exchange rates on their currency market and the more reason why the interbank rate and the parallel market rate don't converge .. the effect of this is that the bank I used while in Nigeria restricted their debit cards to $100 / month for foreign currency transactions .. those MasterCard debit cards couldn't even be used outside Nigeria .. I don't know if these restrictions have been removed but that was the reality back then .. you don't find these inconsistencies elsewhere ..

cool cool cool

You guys are very funny o,
Ok lets even Assume Nigeria's GDP is currently $US 290 Billion

Kenya GDP - $US 75 billion
Ghana GDP - $US 36 billion

Now lets do some dick measuring.

Kenya (75) + Ghana (36) = $US111 billion. cool

lool,
Even when Nigeria is in recession and her GDP has been "wishfully" cut down by almost 52%. Both your Countries economies combined cannot still measure even half way.

The reality on ground is that the GDP of Lagos is now $US136 billion.

Here is a link to proof:
https://businesshilights.com.ng/lagos-gdp-hits-136b-joins-league-of-fastest-developing-mega-cities-in-the-world/

So Kenya + Ghana (GDP) = $US111 billion
Lagos (GDP) = $US136 billion.

Lool you guys countries combined can't even compete economically with just Lagos!!. I swear its just funny

Conclusion:
I can't thank God enough for making me Nigerian

Lemme check them out on Google..

Modified : There's nothing to write about on Eldoret.. it's just a town dominated by athletes. I doubt If it can pass for a local government in Nigeria..
Kisumu.. a port city.. just there. nothing spectacular..
Naruku .. just there too ..
One thing I noticed is that the maximum population of all Kenya cities except Nairobi is 700,000.. And we like 10 cities. at least that's well known . and Kenya population is almost 40million.. where are the remaining population of 20milliob stays
The problem with u Nigerians is that u detrmine cities in terms of size rather than the quality of of the infrastructure or amenities. That is why we see u lots making such shallow arguments about a place like Kaduna or Ibadan being better than the smaller Kenyan cities cos.......of all the reasons, they boast of populations of upwards of a 1mln! That is quite bewildering.

Kenya does not have that many cities with the populations of over a million clike Nigeria cos 1. It has a much slimmer population and 2. Typical of any developing country, most Kenyans dwell inthe rural arras. The percentage of the population living in the urban arras is roughly equivalent to that of Nigeria. 35% of Kenyans are urban dwellers whilst it's around 40% in Nigeria.

Eldoret is more than just athletes, it is a major tourist, agricultural, industrial and communication centrPop. around 500,000. Take a glance of the town below.

Look my dear, you need to be updated, lagos is on steroids, she is an unstoppable moving train,

Lagos is the 5th largest economy in Africa is not by chance

The lekki free trade zone is the largest growing economic corridor on the continent, there is massive construction going on,
Danone refinery, fertilizer plant, petrochemical plant gas pipeline facility, all the largest on the continent, with 3 largest world drudgery dredging 60"% of the reclaimed land off the Atlantic Ocean, Estates springing up every second, new airport, new seaport, demolitions ongoing for fourth mainland bridge, industrial clusters springing up

Research on Orange Island development, eko Atlantic development, Ilubirin lagos Island development, banana Island, lagos medical Park, Oshodi transport interchange,

Go to estate Intel.com and realise that lagos accounts for a huge chunk of real estate in the West African region

Research on ladol, nigerdock, ikeja urban regeneration development, badagry seaport, blue line, red line,

Apapa urban renewal, Victoria Island water front masterplan, ikoyi foreshore

Etc,

On the continent, lagos is the destination for the future of Africa,

Seriously, Lagos is developing faster than Africa.

I am scared that very soon, Lagos state would be worth half of Nigeria or West Africa. We must not let that happen. This is why other Nigerian states must wake up!

States like Rivers, Anambra, Kano, Oyo are very promising financially though.
I wonder why Ogun state is not maximizing it's proximity to Lagos state for mind blowing development.

No, it will not! The Lagos state govt is meeting up to the population growth.
Other Nigerian cities are developing too and taking away attention from Lagos.

Everything happens because people did it. You want to swim in the glory of Dangotes and Adenugas but refuse to accept the Abachas?

I wonder why some Nigerians here always feel like they deserve more accolades for their success and excused for their failures. Mara ooh we have large population, ooh, dictators, ooh, oil destroyed us etc yet when they do well they take all the credit on themselves. Interestingly when other countries do better they tend to rubbish it - Mara oyinbo did it for them, they have small population etc.

Dude, everything happens because it's done. Your military rulers happened because you're incapable of running a stable government.
So what do you want? You want Nigerians to praise and celebrate Abacha? Where in the world is that done? I mean you were the one who said Nigerians are like their dictators. Does that even make sense? You are just backpedaling into a larger trap and you should stop now. People who make their country proud will be celebrated, and evil dictators who looted, plundered their country's resources and killed its own people will be hated and spat on. And what rubbish is this: "Your military rulers happened because you're incapable of running a stable government." Lol, someone hasn't heard of global politics. Abacha was a Western puppet like many dictators in African history. The West had interest in the oil and resources of Nigeria, and they were friend of Abacha because he provided cheap oil to them and in return they provided support and helped him hide his loots in their banks.
Oh stop wailing, Nigeria built what they had largely by themselves producing the richest African man and woman, all by themselves. When a country's top consists of disproportional high amount of Indian or European, that's how you know its a relic of a colonial past and a neocolonialist state. Nigeria also had a peacefully transitioning to civilian rule and relatively peaceful elections, which can't be said of a lot of countries in the world. Sadly, there is still about 20 dictators in Africa, many are puppets of the West, but one day they will transition to civilian rule.

what is trade and output with out good standard of living for it's citizens. what is the money when you end up every day at hospital due to many health hazards.. how about the fears of insecurity the average Joe have to face daily in Nigeria from sars, police army. visitors come to Nigeria and see the amount of abuse of rights a typical Nigerian gets in his own fatherland .he can't even insult an ordinary local government chairman in his face as he could risk being tortured and killed ..I know some blind heartless nigerians would reply me and am ready for them...
