Hello all,
this message goes to most, if not all, of the IT gurus reading this. With reference to the MCSA 70-410 exam, been preparing for it over a while now but the curriculum seems difficult so to speak. Ive done cisco but microsoft seems a little bit more arcane -- the dumps etc. After reading sybex (Will Panek), the dumps still look very strange to me; seeing answers to questions that werent even mentioned in the textbook.
Kindly drop a suggestion if you know of a better way to go about it which ive not done. Thanks for your time.

If No, then your Faculty that taught you should be arrested!!

I wonder how you guys wana learn most of these complex things online and expect to put it into practice in a big firm practically.

Invest in being tutored, gain the theoretical, practical aspect of it all.

Anyone who told you ThT you can learn networking tutoring yourself is a liar.

I recommend IIHT tho. I learnt CCNA there and I didn't regret it!!

a lot of people have scaled through via sef study. I think its about the dedication and the kind of materials you get. No doubt its not gonna come easy unlike going to an IT centre.

Hey bro. A lot of people scale through via self study. Nothing strange about that. In fact, i encourage self study. Most of these study centers are trash and i have paid for some myself. I always end up leaving the centers because i can't take them teaching me trash that i can learn better on my own.

Bro, like i said before. I have paid for some top schools but i won't mention their names. Even in networking class, most of them don't have switches, they use simulators. If you know your way around self study, I'll advise that.

i work in a top notch IT firm. Bro, no matter what you've learnt before, most companies will still train you on anything technical.

Op have you finally written the exam? I also intend to write the exam before the year runs out! How were you able to scale through...I am using video tutorial and study materials. The real problem is I really want to install and configure the windows server myself before writing the exam. I want to have a practical feel of the whole process. I have learnt how to do that through videos and all but I really want to practicalize installation with server core.

Stumbled on your post here and just felt i should drop in and offer my help. 70-410 is by far the easiest in the mcsa server 2012 series. considering the fact that it seems you have self taught yourself, i can understand the challenges that you may be facing irrespective of numerous resources out there for studying.

Microsoft server 2012 is a bulky and intensive series. In order for you to have full practical exposure to all the objectives listed on the 70-410 series you will need the main mircosoft press textbook that is available through "microsoft download center", but you must be an MCT to have access. the documentation contains all the labs for each and every module for practice and preparation purposes..

Since you don't have access to that key resource and also you dont have access to microsoft lab archives an alternative would be to use their virtual lab environment online, though i don't feel that is convenient.

2nd alternative will be to set up your own lab environment which you will use for self practice and to test your skills based on what you have studied from the text books you have made use of and also the objectives of the exam. Having a personal computer capable of catering for this need is important. you can make use of any virtual implementation environment that you are comfortable with but i strongly advise you make use of HYPER V.

getting the necessary training, collaborating with like minds, sharing ideas and connecting should not be underestimated in the IT sphere. i believe you will be best served by visiting a credible IT training/exam center that's keen on giving you the practical exposure you need not just theoretical hoobish.
