Right now , as I'm typing this success transcript down, im on my knees, I feel like crying, I feeling like jumping, but I know for sure that I'm really grateful to the almighty God for what he did today, I got to the embassy like some minutes before 7.. appointment was by 7:30.. @ abuja embassy... was nervous because for a while I've not seen a transcript from abuja.... fast forward.....

I did the necessary thingy.. most of the people present were b1b2 visa categories ... fast forward to the transcript

The vo was a young guy.. was denying people sha.. and they self weren't prepared.. all thanks to Nairaland .. I learnt a lot.. yankee loading

Vo: Good Morning how're you, with a smile
Me: Good Morning sir, I'm good and you?
Vo: im great
Pass your documents.. ( I gave him my I-20 and passport and SEVIS confirmation.. he returned my SEVIS confirmation

Vo: why're you going to the USA
Me: to pursue my bachelors degree in computer and information sciences at SAU which I'll study for the duration of 48 months

Vo: are you married?
Me: no sir
Vo: what's your highest qualification
Me: I obtained a diploma in unizik.. psychology precisely sir
Vo: psychology? ( nodded his head) then why computer science at SAU ?
Me: ( I already knew he'll ask this) after my diploma from unizik , I proceeded to work at *** computer center where I was tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the computers are free from viruses and malware.. I've always been fascinated about computers right from a tender age.. so my experience at the Computer center further fueled my interest in studying computer science at SAU
Vo: what're you doing currently
Me: I work at ** computer center
Vo: that's cyber cafe?
Me: yes sir
Vo: have you traveled out
Me: no sir ( I was denied a b1b2 visa last year sha)
Vo : how many schools did you apply to
Me: 3, Oklahoma state university, southern Arkansas university and Arizona state university
Vo: then why SAU ?
Me: the core of my decision for choosing SAU is because I'll be part of an ongoing research that forcuses on cyber security under professor ..*** .. group .. I mean it's quite obvious about the current situation of our country Nigeria in terms of cyber security, so being part of this course will equip me with the expertise that'll enable me thwart cyber attack and ensure Nigeria is safe as far as cyber security is concerned

I want to say a big thank you to God almighty, I know he answers prayer especially after I was denied visit or tourist visa last year.. I love you mum for the support, (my family... siblings) my uncle Sheldon and uncle Dan for their support both financially and with prayers , God bless them for me ,to @texreem who gave me a mock interview a month before this day ... thank you baba.. to @osazee, whom I learnt a lot from.. God bless your hustle bro.. I'll read your transcript soon, to bimpe.. my baddest guy, you contributed.. and to Lagosismyhome, though you refused to review my transcript because of your busy schedule, I thank you for your contributions here .. I've learnt a lot.. I asked God for a stress free interview and that's what he did .. thanks y'all.. and I wish every fAll applicants success ...

I want to make a big shout out to God and also to everyone on this thread who has in one way or the other contributed to the success of people on this forum....my visa was granted this morning May 22nd on my first trial. Here is a brief stats about my educational background.
GRE 312, TOEFL 99, CGPA 3.52/5 (was never a serious student only read to pass exams nothing else, became serious minded during my NYSC after i was mentored by a man i aspired to be like. Graduated in 2012 joined one of the biggest oil and gas servicing/construction company in the world in 2016). I got a fully funded phd program in chemical engineering without any assistance despite been discouraged by friends about my low cgpa and no little research background.

VO: So why NMSU?

ME: Because of my interest in working with Prof. Hongmei on her research project

VO: Whats the title of her research?

Me: Modelling and simulation of multiphase fluid flow in porous media using computational fluid dynamics

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: 7 ( I really did apply to all 7 schools, one acceptance, 4 denials, 2 waitlist)

VO: What is your dissertation topic?

Me: I don't know yet but i will be working with prof. Hongmei on her research.

VO: Why did you choose NMSU?

Me: Because of my interest in prof. Hongmei's research and because it is related to my current job in Nigeria

VO: Where do you work?

ME:XXXXXXXX Nigeria Limited

VO: What do you do there?

ME: I work as a research and process development engineer

Then he nodded and said congratulations, I'm going to approve your visa for studying in the USA, Pick up your passport in this location after three business days, and I said thank you and ran out with a smile. It can only be GOD... I prayed just like I did on other days, I did not fast though, I gave alms, but mostly to broke and poor relatives (charity i believe begins at home), I fulfilled every promise i made to GOD.

P.S: Not a single document was requested.

Hey, I met Tayo two days back in Junction City, KS. I landed Manhattan, KS, turned my phone from flight mode and got his text. I was surprised to know how he got the feeling I was in his city. It was nice meeting him.

He told me about it because i sent him message and it took him longer to reply me back and said to me that you came around.

I have spent money on applications which I got many but no funding, I am tired but still dont want to give up on this school thing. Also, I want to minimize my expenditure on application fee and transcript sending by having targeted schools that sure grant GA.

I want to study Msc or Msc/PhD Civil Engineering.

Please guys, which schools can I apply too for best assurance on securing GA with my scores below?;

GRE = 311 (Quant = 158, Verbal = 153 and AW = 3.5)
Toefl = 101

Your suggestion would be held in high honors

I was once in your shoe before .So I will say you have gone too far to turn back now. I encourage you to keep pressing on. The key now is to defer your current admits, asking them re-evaluate your profile for next session funding. Also follow up with faculty member to consider you in their research group. List out new schools and mail their faculty with research interest that interest yours. Their reply will determine whether to apply or not. Funding is not that easy, it depends on availability. So start mailing faculty like never before .

Good day everyone,

I want to use this medium to appreciate everyone here that helped in one way or the other the last time i visited here. Unfortunately, my American dream has been postponed to 2019. I have been awarded the European Union Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to study Quantitative Economics (MSc) and i hope to pursue the American dream in 2019 for PhD of course. Lol. Here is my brief profile:

BSc: Statistics
CGPA: 3.81/4.00
Referees: A Professor and an assistant lecturer
Research experience: Served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant (during undergrad days) and currently a Graduate Assistant
Publication: Published my undergraduate final year thesis, unpublished article which i placed on Academia.ed (don't know of it both count anyways undecided)

Rejection List
1. Berlin Mathematical Society
2. Purdue University
3. African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (Application submitted late and I was advised to re-submit for Fall 2017, so it count as 'rejection' as well)
4. University of New South Wales (Application submitted late hence lab of my potential supervisor was filled, so it counts as rejection as well)

Admitted but no funding
Universitat Bielefeld (Mathematical Modeling in Engineering); Waiting List on funding Number 36
Austin Peay State University

To those that might be interested, the Consortium place much emphasis on your Motivational statement, this I'm sure of.

Thank you all!

To Lagosismyhome who advised me not to give up on Fall 2017 even when i couldn't pay for TOEFL. Your husband is a lucky man i must confess.

Again I say a big Thank you.

Cool...
Pls check out your GPA equivalent on WES website so you get an idea what your GP is on the 4point scale.
Then you would search for safe schools that match your profile.
Also you would have to try and publish some papers even if its free just to be more competitive...

Thank God for USA. For UK visas, incomplete documents is a ground for refusal, even documents that aren't expressly stated as required. More irritating is the fact that you'll have to wait for 3 weeks to receive visa outcome.

One can choose from any of:
Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain
Universität Bielefeld, Germany
Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, Italy.

One can choose any of the four Universities but i chose Bielefeld for my first year and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain for my second year.

I didn't write the GRE (i had planned to after paying application fee to some of the universities)

Dont let this your good cgpa waste at all... with this gpa the easiest way to have gotten funding is to Write GRE, score high and then apply for masters in the USA and not applying without GRE

Anyway since you still want to apply for phd in the US ... then best to take GRE. If u can study hard for it and write it before the master program start that would be better. Send me a pm if you need help in paying for GRE. You have a good gpa . You should have mentioned the above back in sept and i would have sorted you out based on this gpa for sure

Cool...
Pls check out your GPA equivalent on WES website so you get an idea what your GP is on the 4point scale.
Then you would search for safe schools that match your profile.
Also you would have to try and publish some papers even if its free just to be more competitive...
3.33/4.00 on WES.

Do you mean publish academic papers or would non-academic books that I have already written do as well?
