Your military can only hunt Al shabaab into Somalia because Somalia itself is a failed nation. None of Nigeria's neighbours are failed nation and it is against international to trespass into the sovereignity of another nation.

Kenya would still go in. There is a clause in the UN charter that allows nations to go into other nations in 'hot pursuit' of dangerous elements. That is what Kenya used and the UN could not stop it.

That would be unfair because Southern Nigeria is a contiguous geographical division, but those different Kenyan counties aren't.

It is the same thing buddy. What you keep talking of is absurd and that's the point I want you to see. Nigeria is Nigeria and you can't boast because the most developed part of Nigeria has a higher HDI than the whole of Kenya. The most developed part of any country is of course way more developed than many countries that are ahead of the said country development wise. If I was to select Muthaiga alone from Nairobi and compare it with the whole of New York city it would be ahead if NY in all economic indicators. Does that make Nairobi more developed than New York? Go figure.

Depends. There is the oppressive west African Muslim conquerer version and there is the other collective, communal well being version.

The issue is that even the communal version may hinder some sorts of expressions e.g in arts or research. You can imagine mentioning test tube babies or stem cell research to old men

That was the figure over 10 years ago. I suspect it's bigger too. May be in Somalia and Ethiopia where there is abit of a disturbance. Kenyan Somalis have been at rest.

It may cause the Somalis to look at themselves as one and needing each other, which they will have to do to get those votes for their candidate, and most likely, be in league with another major tribe in terms of population.

The Ethiopian census is out later this year. It will be interesting to see how much the population has grown since the last census.

Somali solidarity has been absent since the civil war, it would be nice to see a united front at least once in my life time.

All sorts of animals can join in the fun, even predators like lions but of course predators rarely join in. But just in case, two helicopters and one spotter plane keep an eye out for any possible threats. Experienced rangers from the Kenyan Wildlife Service guard the entire course and run with the crowd. It gets too damn hot, so there are misting stations along the way shown in the last photo. The event attracts people from around the world.

Nigeria doing africa proud.

The most important aspect of Nollywood for Nigeria’s “soft power” involves the impact that the films have had across Africa and its diaspora.
As Matthias Krings and Onookome Okome (whose 2013 book Global Nollywood, has greatly informed my research) said: “Nollywood has become the most visible form of cultural machine on the African continent. Nigerian video films travel the length and breadth of the continent connecting Africa to its diverse and far-flung diasporas elsewhere.”
Nollywood speaks to the lives of ordinary Africans on the continent and in the diaspora in ways in which they can relate. The industry deals with the diverse and complex mosaic of modern African urban and rural lives. Nollywood has inspired film production in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa.
In Tanzania, griots provide simultaneous interpretation to audiences in Kiswahili. Lingala-speaking Congolese “dubbers” do the same in Kinshasa. In Togo, interpretation is provided by pastors in Ewe.
The films have influenced how Kenyan politicians dress. They have also influenced Congolese tailors, pastors, architecture and the accents of South African students.
But there have also been complaints of Nollywood harming local film production in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana and Tanzania.
DStv, with its 11 million subscribers across Africa, is one of the most effective mediums of beaming Nollywood across the continent, with three 24-hour channels devoted to the movies. Nollywood DVDs have also been widely sold across the globe.
Southern African audiences have noted how the films promote African values of respect for elders and the importance of family and produce a nostalgic longing for rural life.
Nollywood has also had a massive impact in the Congo’s bustling capital of Kinshasa, where Pentecostal pastors have incorporated messages of the triumph of good over evil into their religious repertoire. Many Congolese also praise Nollywood’s “Africanity” in providing an authentic medium for resisting Western cultural imperialism.
Tanzania’s film industry has further been influenced by Nollywood, particularly in making horror movies. For example, the Tanzanian Shumileta was greatly influenced by Nollywood’s Karishika; and like Nollywood, the Tanzanian films aim to be didactic, urging audiences to abandon sorcery for Islam or Christianity.
Nollywood’s cultural reach has expanded as far as Barbados where the movies are widely seen as authentic in presenting genuine African lifestyles with which many of the island’s Hollywood-obsessed audiences had not been familiar.
Many Caribbeans further relate to the Pentecostal religion depicted in Nollywood. They are attracted by the fact that several of the glamorous actresses have figures of ample proportion which challenge Western notions of beauty.
Nollywood has also gone global in another sense: many of its films are made in the European and American diaspora by Nigerian directors based there.
African-American actors have starred in some of the movies which have dealt with varied subjects such as the tense relations between Nigerian immigrants and African Americans, African Americans seeking their African roots, Nigerian prostitutes in Italy, cultural clashes of Nigerians visiting the West and African migrants embarking on harrowing voyages across the Sahara desert through the Maghreb in a bid to reach Europe.
Even when shot abroad, Nollywood movies are almost always uncompromising in having Nigerian locations at the core of the action. The world is thus consistently viewed from an African perspective, with the continent never a marginal, but a central focus. Nollywood has unquestioningly become one of the few true representations of “Global Africa”.

You cant stop it, the only thing you can do is hate.

"In terms of economic potential, no African country can compete with Nigeria. According to the IFs model used in this paper, Nigeria’s GDP is forecast to grow from slightly over $525 billion in 2014 to slightly over $4.2 trillion by 2040. By 2040 the IFs Base Case forecast is that Nigeria will constitute slightly less than 2% of the global economy, up from 0.7% in 2014. To a large extent, the increase in Africa’s role globally will therefore be driven by the future weight of Nigeria – a country that by 2040 will have the fourth largest population in the world after India, China and the US."

Keep comparing yourself with a country that is obviously far ahead of you.

While Ethiopia and tanzania are sweeping your economy rug from under you.

Listen to what one of your own paul Mwangi has to say.

The reality is that gone are the days when we were the “island of peace” in an unpredictable and violent part of the world. Over time, the world around us has changed, but we are yet to wake up and smell the coffee. Ethiopia is no longer in civil war and is quickly becoming a better investment opportunity for manufacturers both due to the low price of its electricity and the size of its population, about 90 million people. It is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
Tanzania is no longer socialist and is now the darling of America. Apart from its own vast mineral, oil and gas deposits, Tanzania is the new gateway to the DRC and is receiving mammoth investment from both China and America. China is building what is being called a “mega port” for Tanzania at Bagamoyo, which is more than 30 times the size of Mombasa, as part of a $10 billion investment package for Tanzania. When completed, it is bound to take away all central Africa business from Mombasa port, which will be left to serve only Kenya and Uganda.
……. Let us stop comparing ourselves with other countries

While we continue to do our thing.

Even Nicki minaj got admit.

“Let me play you something I made using the Nigerian sound.” Diplo said. Before cuing his new single “Run up”, which features international music stars Nicki Minaj and PartNextDoor.
‘Run Up’ is a song by American electronic band Major Lazer from their upcoming fourth studio album, “Music Is the Weapon”. The song features Canadian musician PartyNextDoor , and Trinidadian-born American rapper Nicki Minaj .
The song was released on January 26, 2017, by
Mad Decent and Because Music . It was written by primary Major Lazer member Diplo, Stargate, Jr. Blender, PartyNextDoor, Minaj, and Philip Meckseper, while the song's production was handled by Major Lazer, Stargate, and Jr. Blender.
"Run Up" has a length of three minutes and twenty-three seconds, all of which is Nigerian music. The beat pattern sits comfortably with the sounds from the heart of Lagos, utilizing a combination of beats that isn’t far from local producers LeriQ and Maleek Berry.
Although the lyrics and delivery from Nicki Minaj and PARTYNEXTDOOR are predominantly US-influenced, it is the sound that has carried it far. It’s lyric video on Youtube has over 30 million views, and on Spotify, they are killing it with 135 million streams. The official music video has been released, and you can watch below.
A member of Major Lazer, Diplo , who played a set at concert Gidi Fest 2017, explained on stage how important Nigerian music is.
“You guys make special music in this country, that’s why I had to come. Your music has exploded worldwide and influenced a lot of people.” Diplo said.
Two Nigerian artists Tekno and Mr Eazi had recorded personalized versions of ‘ Pana’ and ‘Leg Over’ for Major Lazer. And at the concert, Diplo played them out, the fans orgasmed. And after that, he admitted to using the Nigerian sound for the single.
For all the talk about how Nigerian music is growing not just in record sales, but in influence around the world, there are limited examples.
Most of the work we have done to grow the music internationally has been done via collaborations with US and UK superstars and also the signing of deals with major record labels to export the sound, its creators and their brands to different markets.
Nigerians have literally been chasing amplification of the local sound via partnerships with international music houses and artists, and it is bearing fruit. Wizkid is currently on an international campaign to break into the US mainstream. Davido tried it last year, but creative differences have stunted his growth into that market and thrown him back to Africa.
Other indicators of how much influence we have on the international market have been few and far between. The success of ‘One Dance’, Alicia Keys cosigning everything Nigeria right now, Swizz Beatz working with MC Galaxy, and Beyonce recording an unreleased Fela-inspired album. All of these point us towards a potential in our music.
But it is changing. Our sounds can be big as the greatest dance songs across the globe. And apart from the success of D’banj’s ‘Oliver Twist’ in 2012, and Drake’s work on ‘Ojuelegba’, a new tangible proof of this, is American electronic music trio Major Lazer and their new song ‘Run Up’ , which was created with ‘the Nigerian sound’.

Currently Kenyan port is the most efficient hence used by most of this countries including tanzania it self.
