I am not making excuse for the corruption of the govt or the Discos
But stating a contributing fact .

if Nigeria were to ne broken into smaller region , I am sure a place like lagos will not be having electricity problem . because it will use its resources for cater for only its population .
Lets look at this , the poluation of Ghana is 27.4million . That of Nigeria is 180 million . That ratio is 1:6.

That is just the fact I'm stating. Don't get it twisted

That's not really an excuse as you said, Indian population is far higher than Nigeria, What of China etc. Our politicians are playing with us Period .

Your comments was making sense until you sighted excuses that were asinine, just becos of people with your type of thinking and mindset is the reason this county still wallows in abject poverty and underdevelopment, why do we always settle for less? or give frivolous excuses , why do we compare ourselves with people we have more than, just to take solace or massage our ego becos of our incompetence, are you now telling me Nigeria cannot afford to give her citizen constant electricity round the year, is it we dont have the resources or what?, I saw some numb persons liking what you put up there, its pathetic and sardonic that the society has molded and transmogrified some minds into settling for less or not taking responsibilities, competence always using the blame transfer or excuse factor. the money embezzled during jonathans regime will give us both Light, Good Road and industry... God help us.

Nigerians and their low self esteem, comparing themselves with everything.
Prepaid meter is almost every where in nigeria, even in my hostel at ifite unizik we have been using prepaid for a very long time.
If we bring together all the prepaid meters in nigeria it may far outweigh the ones in ghana

Our own is just to complain,no body has an idea of what to do to help the situation

Will that landlord agree to live in that mud house even with 10 prepaid meters

Seriously we need to let go of this pull this country down syndrom

We are certainly entering the Somalia and South Sudan territory of "fundamentally failed state" in at least 1/3 of the country. Nobody is paying attention as usual.

Sometimes I wonder why the same suffering masses defend their killers. How does our population stops infrastructural development or provision of social basic amenity while it is not a problem for them to tax the same 180m or deduct 50naiara for our bank deposits or sms alert.

So because Nigeria is a larger country, it is supposed to be difficult to provide prepaid meters to electricity customers? How about comparing Nigeria with India then. How come they also have meters in such a much larger country? My friend, no consumer should be receiving estimated bills at this point in time. There should be no excuses at all.

nigeria is bleeped up with corruption, that is why simple things seems impossible. phcn 'll not distribute pre-payed metre, as it 'll stop them from collecting money for darkness they always offer us, in the name of estimated bills.

You have made a good observation

But the problem of Nigerian Electrician consumers has NOTHING to do with the massive Population.
It is a function of CORRUPTION by Nigerian Elites.

Just take a look at the list of those who bought NEPA (Our national Asset!) at rock-bottom prices, in a privatisation organised by the "Saint" El Rufai (as head of BPE back then): Former head of States, Former Ministers, Big time looters...... all people who have NO CLUE at running a Power Company bought just bought it believing they can just strip-off its Assets.

Right now, after many years, they have not invested a Penny in their Discos.
All they have been doing is siphoning money out of th eplace, asking for unending hike in tarrifs, asking for Free Money from the federal Govt and refusing to invest in prepaid meters because they know trhat will hasten their death, as the cant cheat Nigerians by collecting Money for nergy not supplied.

The New Scam they are into now is to install a Meter at the transformer and then share that phantom value on all the people in the area.
Ofcourse, they know there is no way the consumers can monitor that, they just share whatever value they like.
Even Fashola is tired of the whole thing because those involved are bigger than him
Re: Nigerian Landlord Found Prepaid Meters In A Village in Ghana (Video) by SmallSimba: 5:31pm On May 27, 2017
Those people making an excuse for Nigeria saying that landmass blah blah are very ignorant. Take Kenya (A country that ignorant Nairalanders love making fun of) for example. In 2013, the total number of people in Kenya with electricity represented 27 percent of the population. From 1954 through 1963 and 2013, only 2.26 Million were connected.

From 2013 to July 2016 - Three years, the number of households connected increased from 2.26 Million to 4.8 Million. This was an increase of 2.6 Million. That means that the number of people connected in 3 Years is more than the number of people connected in 60 Years. It has nothing to do with Landmass. It has everything to do with leadership. Stop tolerating mediocrity.
