Oooh, great. N what percentage of this income comes from foreigners? You have any idea?

In 2014, domestic tourism contribution was 58.1 % while foreign tourists contributed the other 41.9 %. See page 6 in this file

Tigrayan People's Liberation Front. They are the ones in control of Ethiopia, and they really only care about Tigrays. They do everything to maintain their dictatorship. They are universally hated in Ethiopia

Buh i thot the Tigrayans were a minority in Ethiopia?
How can they be dominating the Oromos n amharas? undecided

Shikena originated from hausa

>>>>>Yanfu yanfu, hmm i dont know buh seems like Igbo or no language at all. Many pidgin words have no language origins.
It's actually spelt n pronounced nyafu-nyafu. Can also be replaced by 'boku, sara, jabrata, full-ground'. grin i don't think all these words have any origins, they just evolved.

Ok, grin

Hausa's must be a funny lot

Kk. Cool. It's a lucrative industry.

In Nigeria, private investment in the tourism sector is like the last option you will see in the mind of the average Nigerian. Only 1 state promotes tourism in Nigeria. That is the only state that seems to have a future in tourism in Nigeria.

Do u see Kenya developing an entertainment and fashion industry just like Nigeria in the nearest period?

Tourism is very lucrative. The government gets sick when something is hurting it because it brings in much needed foreign currency.

Kenya's fashion industry is a shadow of its former self. Cheap imports of clothes known as mitumba killed the textile industry. However, the government is reviving the sector and new brands have emerged strongly all of a sudden. A recent report came up with strategic goals recommendations.

Strategic Goal 1: Integrate Local Designers and Small Tailors in the Domestic Retail Market
Strategic Goal 2: Strengthen The National Fibre to Fashion Value Chain
Strategic Goal 3: Create an Enabling Environment to Support the Growth and Development of MSMEs in the Textile and Clothing Sector
Strategic Goal 4: Strengthen the Trade Support Network through Institutional Alignment
Strategic Goal 5: Enhance the Visibility of Kenyan Designers and Their Design Capabilities in Kenya, the Region and the Global Markets

As for entertainment, we are doing well but definitely can do better. The entertainment industry (as a whole and not restricted to movies) in kenya is definitely among the top in Africa. Nigeria however has an edge with its market, which kenya is trying to achieve by a unified East Africa. Kenya is the biggest pusher for an E. A Federation (like the UAE)

Cooool. This is lovely kiss

>>>>I think Kenyans need to lecture Nigerians about maintaining a beautiful environment.
I think it's a shame to we Nigerians that we claim to be civilized, fashionable and trendy yet we completely lack a good aesthetic appeal. The kind of pics i am seeing here from Kenya, seriously we have only a few or do not have such places at all in Nigeria.

Pls you guys should continue posting pictures of the beautiful Kenyan resorts, parks, gardens e.t.c. Perhaps it will provoke a better aesthetic taste for Nigerians. I myself am already provoked by these pictures.

I know many of my fellow Nigerians may not be happy with this comment of mine but it's the truth. I know everywhere in Kenya may not be beautiful, clean or aesthetically appealing, buh the point is that, the places that are beautiful, exquisite and clean are almost of world standards.

My fellow Nigerians should not see it as if i am condemning Nigeria totally, no. Of course not, we have other sectors in which we have excelled the most in Africa. Buh i think we should give to caesar what belongs to caesar.
Kenyans have a far far higher aesthetic taste than Nigerians, infact i am tempted to say that they are more civilized than us. (i may be using the wrong expression though).
We have one of the most neglectful governors right now in Nairobi too. He got rid of workers who did the cleaning and employed his own company which is doing a shoddy job. Hopefully the next governor will be wiser.

The British never colonized the coast. Swahilis were still under the sultan of Zanzibar during the time other Kenyans were busy building the British empire. The British didn't want to have any troubles with the Sultan and their Omani allies.

I have to pity the Afro Arabs.
Yeah, it's so sad sad
Arab Enslavers Avoided Teaching Islam to Blacks to Justify Enslaving Them
According to some historians, Islam prohibited freeborn Muslims from being enslaved, so it was not in the interest for Arab slavers to convert enslaved Africans to the religion. Since converting enslaved Africans to Muslim would grant them more rights and reduce the potential reservoir of people to enslave, propagators of Islam often revealed a cautious attitude toward proselytizing Africans.
Still, if an African converted to Islam he was not guaranteed freedom nor did it confer freedom to their children. Only children of slaves or non-Muslim prisoners of war could become slaves, never a freeborn Muslim.

Kk, so how will you describe the place sincerely?
sincerely speaking ,Nairobi have few nice places but most of these "nice " places are mostly dominated by Indians and whites fellas, Nairobi CBD have this advantage of it location, the location which is very close to the airport gives a good impression of the city and even the country at large, imagine having an airport at VI,IKoyi or even Lekki.
while I was at Nairobi , I stayed at a place called Karen ("posh place "where literally all the politicians, and whites stays) this place was provided by the company i worked with, and this was based on the contract agreement signed, the agreement was to be provided with a safe and conducive areas, this so called"posh reserved" area not only have bad roads but does not by any means qualify to be rated above an average places in Abuja and Lagos, also, prior to leaving for kenya I had a very good impression of a nice "black African city" ,but I was wrong, my first disappointment came when I realised that an average black Kenyan does not see that the economy of the nation ain't longer in their hands rather in the hand of few Indians, Somalis and white people, best estates, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, hotels and other big business are owned by these few guys ,one can hardly go to a cinemas where Indian movies r not given priority above other movies let say Kenyan or even english movies, go to the industrial areas along airport roads and see how over 98% of the companies are owned by these Indians ,go to this so called "nice" places ,Karen,Westland, parkland, muthaiga, spring valley,lavington.. and see how very few the black Kenyans are , blacks in kenya mostly stays in a very low areas with very poor facilities and the funny thing is the fact they stay not too far from where the Indians and white stays .so, I would summarise my Nairobi experience as, a place designed for few whites,Indians and tourist.
also, one would think it's only Nairobi that has this challenges but the truth is that, almost all Kenyan cities have same issues from Nakuru to naivasa, from Mombasa to malindi , from malindi to ukunda, from ukunda to eldoret, they all have this same issue of self delusional, myopic reasoning, they are all too blind to see what's going on, and it really pains me a lot. I have this friend from eldorate he once said this to me "it too late now ,we can never do any thing to these Indians ,any attempt to take back out economy from them means total collapse of our economy and we don't want to experience what happened to Zimbabwe and Uganda"
I just laughed and ended the conversation...

Kenya's earnings from tourism fall 3 pct in 2015
revenue from its tourism sector dropped 2.87 percent last year to 84.6 billion shillings ($837.21 million), its tourism minister said.

Our entertainment and fashion industries are definitely growing faster than your tourism industry. So what profit are you talking about?
Or should we compare the net incomes of these industries?

If your entertainment industry is growing fast well and good. It's non of our business. I simply asked you to stop making an absurd comparison. Anyway, you're so incoherent in your arguments - you say something that doesn't make sense, someone points it out, you jump to something else (without even accepting your mistake).

Chai genie, why why why?
It seems like a Kenyan guy has won your heart oo grin who is he?

You may have some points though, but i think it is a mutual thing. Ask yourself or ask your Kenyan friends, apart from a great tourism industry, what else can Kenya really offer better than Nigeria? Nothing.
Kenya also has some of the most terrible sights in Africa.
Of what use is a very beautiful neighbourhood with resorts, parks, garden and e.t.c when just beside it, there are huge slums everywhere with millions of people?

How much is their so called tourism sector worth or generating? Beautiful gardens are not enough to make an economic super power. .....It woud have been better if your Kenyan friends use all the money they spend in building luxury resorts in building industries and industrializing their country.
I am not against beauty or an aesthetically pleasing environment, but i think these are things that come in their own time. The oil curse had been the problem that crampled the minds of many Nigerians not to think into other sectors including tourism, but the curse is gradually fading.....
In a short time, a lot of things will fall in place.

Jealousy will kill you.
