Time For The Southern Nigerians To Unite For A More Just Nigeria by Nobody: 5:21am On Jun 01, 2017 |
Southern Nigerians, you need to stop quarrelling and unite. This is now very urgent. Very very urgent. Or else, future generations will course us when their ancestral and lands are no longer theirs. Please Yorubas, Igbos, Niger Deltans, throw aside your differences and work for unity. Southern Nigerian lawyers, politicians, legislators, human rights activists, online activists need to come together to legally prevent Southern ethnic and ancestral lands from being collected for the so called Grazing Reserves. We need to show our education by always agitating for commercial cattle ranching as opposed to the unjust attempts at creating grazing reserves on Southern lands. Southerners, Stop quarrelling amongst yourselves. We need to be shout commercial ranching till it becomes the only thing anyone in this country will dare talk about. What an elder sees sitting down... Whatever you do today, do at least one thing to promote Southern unity and solidarity, not just your immediate ethnic group. Very urgent, very hard, but if we build it, it will come. 1 Like |

Unite with Yoruba? As an Igbo man, it makes more sense to jump in front of an oncoming train. At least, what will kill me will come from the front, not the back 7 Likes |

When people call for Southern unity, they tend to forget about how the yorubas only call for that when their interest are at stake - either when tinubu is been dealt with by the northerners, osinbanjo is having issues with the cabal or when they hear of Biafra disintegration. This people don't like nor wish you well... They feel comfortable saying lagos has a bigger economy than over 30 states in Nigeria, how the igbo states are all muds even when they have nevered traveled or ever will in their entire lives. How Anambra isn't among the 10 top economy in Nigeria, how we never contribute anything to the Nation's purse. All this stupid lies will never end, even after the implementation of your proposed Southern unity. They will still sabotage anything that would put the SE at the advantage. Their baseless lies on how the Igbos cannot stay on their deserted lands, and lots of others people of the SE will remember. I will rather unite with the North at least they will appreciate and acknowledge your contributions. The average Igbo doesn't mind starting all over again - We want a country of our own. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

igbodefender:The south can't unite because one of them has sown bad blood. Because they claim to know more, they use propaganda to fight a fellow southern but rarely would you see the north do that no wonder 19 is bigger than 17 |

The Igbos, Yorubas and Niger Deltans can unite around certain limited issues. For instance the grazing reserves issue. While the South sleeps, some forces strategize day and night on how to take over ancestral lands that belong to the South. Stopping them legally is more important than any political issue. And to stop them successfully, some form of unity of purpose is needed. This is not a political issue. It is a cultural issue. If your culture is wiped out tomorrow, then what do you have left? |

If Southerners can unite, it would have been the best thing ever, but North will never see it happen, the discord they have sowed within us and the ones they are yet to sow, will be too strong to be broken. |

Nwogeh:SW is the problem of the southern unity, the majority of Yoruba muslim will obey the Sultan of Sokoto which have 50% stake in SW and they will back stab whatever agenda the southerners will have against the north. |

From all your statements above, it is clear that the unity of the south lies in the hands of the Yoruba. The truth has been said by igbodiffender that we the southerners need to unite. If the easterners were treated nicely as our brothers and as fellow Nigerians they will not struggle to break away to form Biafra. But come to look at the whole issue on ground politically, the south is disadvantaged. I am from the Niger delta but I am very very angry to see how disunited the entire south is. I will commend the igboes for their support for goodluck Jonathans administration and it made a lot of Niger deltans to value and see the igboes as their true brothers, but we still need the south westerners to join the fold so that the unity in the south will be complete. We have the numbers, we have the brains, we have the strength, we have the wisdom.... But why can't we unite once and for all to become strong. Let us forget what happened in the past and forge ahead, let us forget the pains we felt during the civil war, let us forget how goodluck Jonathan lost the last election, let us forget the treachery of one another against us in the past and unite the entire south. United we stand and divided we fall. The journey toward uniting the south has already started by the way fani kayode, fayoshe and some other westerners supported nnamdi KANU during his prison days and the love they showed him after his release from prison. Let the great leaders of south south arise, let the great leaders of the south east arise, let the great leaders of the south west arise and unite with one another and see themselves as southerners. All southerners should know that WINTER IS COMING and we need each others help to face it. Yorubas need igboes, the Niger deltans need igboes, the igboes need yorubas, the igboes need the Niger deltans, we can only succeed if we help one another and forgive one another of our past deeds. We all have made mistakes and we should not allow our mistakes to keep repeating itself. With tears in my eyes I am writing this message. Southerners wake up. 1 Like |

It's not too late for a united South. Let's come together to promote Southern unity. You can see that the Northern youth groups gave the recent Hausa-Yoruba clashes in Ile Ife (Yoruba Land) as one of the reasons they are asking Igbos (who were not involved) to leave the North. |
