Who cares? all that matters is that it is listed as game that actually happened... and players got capped... This game is even outside the official FIFA window.... it is a recognised international game but will not count in the FIFA rankings as only games official games and FIFA window friendly games plus games that stick to the basic rules of fifa as regards six subs max. and fifa badged referees (ref and two assistants) amd some more.... count for the rankings.

Abeg.... into the fifa-points counting game vs South Africa... great friendly win Super Eagles... great one. smiley

This game is not listed on the FIFA ranking calculation table. So it will not count in our next ranking.

However, a good confidence booster for the boys.

Rohr should know his starting 11 against SA by now.

Meanwhile if I say make I spread mat wait for players Ratings now some people go say I funny. Make I just kukuma Waka go play. When the ratings surface I go show face.

I hate to be the one to say this but this match will not be considered when the next fifa rankings are released. as a matter of fact, as long as FIFA is concerned this match never happened.

The International Football Association Board has set a limit of six substitutes as a maximum in international friendlies.
The limit was forced through today despite strong opposition from the English FA and England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
FIFA had originally wanted to impose a maximum of five substitutes but agreed to compromise at the meeting in London.
The rule change is among several changes by the game's rule-making body, including scrapping the golden goal and silver goal rules after Euro 2004.
The decision means that knock-out games will revert to being decided on penalties if the scores are level after two periods of extra-time.
Eriksson and the FA faced an uphill struggle in their attempt to persuade FIFA to drop the change to the substitute rule after the Irish FA indicated they would back the proposal from FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
Irish FA chairman Jim Boyce had said on Thursday: "I personally believe that there should not be more than five substitutes, otherwise it is a total farce with people running on and off the pitch all the time.
You are looking at rankings, Rohr is busy improving his team. Who ranking epp? Rankings does not equate to victory. Victory is when your team wins 3:0 and it's not even the victory that is important. What is important is the fact that the team is improving because we are on the long walk to Russia 2018 and the Afcon 2019.
And don't forget we have a match on the 10th of this month

So in order of priority this is how things rank:
*Improving the team
*Play matches frequently and play to win
*Rankings

Sorry..... then why did we use 9 today?? Can you explain oh high and mighty? grin

Since all you love to do is counter and spill controversial comments....

FYI, The international window is June 05 to June 13.... so how is this a FIFA window?? U just love to talk.... Lolll

http://www.fifa.com/calendar/

we used 9 subs because this is not a FIFA sanctioned friendly. Check out Italy Vs San Marino, they used 6 subs and it is going to improve their ranking.

Remember when SA defeated Spain but the stuff didn't count because Spain made 7 subs? You can sub as much as you want in a game even more than 11 if you want but once you cross 6 subs, it's no longer a FIFA sanctioned friendly, tu comprehende?

AF South Africa 2017 CAF Confederation Cup Cs Sfaxien
CS Sfaxien ready for Stars challenge

Sokari of CS Sfaxien

by Graeme Jackson

CS Sfaxien will look to boost their quarterfinal hopes in the CAF Confederation Cup when they host Platinum Stars on Sunday night.

The teams will meet for a Group B clash at the Stade Taieb Mhiri in Sfax, kick-off at 23h00 CAT.

The Tunisians are three-time champions of the competition, though their hopes were dealt a blow in the previous Matchday when they were beaten 2-1 in Algiers by MC Alger.

Following on from a narrow 1-0 home win over Mbabane Swallows to kick off the group stage, it hasn’t been the most convincing showing from CSS thus far.

The same can be said of their opponents, with Stars opening up their campaign with a respectable draw at home to MCA, only to follow that up with a calamitous 4-2 loss away to Swallows.

The defeat left Dikwena in last place on the standings with just one point and they really need a good showing in Sfax to revive their self confidence and boost their quarterfinal ambitions.

This match will be the first of a double-header between Sfaxien and Stars, with the return game in Rustenburg scheduled for June 21.

Sudanese referee Mahmood Ali Ismail will take charge of the match in Sfax. The other Group B clash between Mbabane Swallows and MCA will be played in Lobamba on Friday afternoon.

*Yawns*

I saw this rule long before the game as I realised this is not within the FIFA window even.... but it is indeed a recognised international game.... the caps have been taken into account... and the only thing is this... It will not count in the next FIFA rankings Period!

So don't come here subtly happy to play spoil sport because Iheanacho scored his seventh international goal.... loooollll

Using words like "This game never happened" is your subtle attempt to make this game null and void in the minds of others.

The records have that recorded already aiit... you or anybody cannot change that by twisting what the rule says...

This game falls under "Other friendlies" where more than six subs are permitted as agreed by the two teams involved....

Do you also know the Upcoming Uefa U-21 Euros is not in the FIFA calendar this year? According to Fifa... it is not a FIFA event... but the records will remain... nothing changes.

Na wa... smh... if you argue further... I will drop the page reference from the FIFA rule book... right here that shows more than six subs can be allowed also depending on the kind of friendly.

See who is saying Tu comprends?? Looollll

Look mister better keep quiet and learn... you talk too much really.
Repeating even the subs rule to my face as if I didn't mention that in the original post of mine you quoted. undecided Na wa...

Are you not the one who spilled an erroneous comment about this match falling in the FIFA window?? Did you not say this game is a FIFA window game??

So why evading that now?? Wanna turn the table around..?

Learn to have a teachable spirit... so that you can actually learn....

Read to understand and not always to counter... that way, your comments will be well guided next time....

And the game will not count in the rankings because we chose it to be that way... okay? Rohr is more concerned with testing all the players and giving them their run instead of using every single game for FIFA rankings calculation...

This game is not FIFA sanctioned only for the rankings... but it is recognised for the records. Simple.... Stop your spoil sport games... it is becoming silly.

Super Eagles Rankings Shows Rohr's Coaching Magic - Dosu

By Augustine Akhilomen

Ex international, Joseph Dosu has credited the gradual rise of the Super Eagles in the latest FIFA rankings to Gernot Rohr's proficiency and competency to the managerial job.

Since appointed as the technical adviser of the team in 2016 by the Nigeria Football Federation, the German tactician has revived the winning mentality of the team.

Nigeria tops group B with six points of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers after defeating Zambia 2-1 and Algeria 3-1; as the team remain unbeaten under Rohr.

The Atlanta Olympic gold medalist in the football event told Soccernet.com.ng that Rohr has improved Nigeria's FIFA rankings.

"There is no doubt that Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has impacted positively on the team since taking over in 2016," Dosu told Soccernet.com.ng

"Before now the team was lying fallow in 77 position in the FIFA rankings but since his arrival and the matches he has won and drawn, the team has moved up to a appreciable level where we can be proud of.

"This really shows the coaching magic that a coach like Rohr can have in a team and I am happy that the Super Eagles are now flying pretty high," he said.

2) better ranking means weaker opponents during the world cup. If we end up in Pot3 that could spell disaster.

As regards your first point even if FIFA doesn't recognise those goals, Musa and Iheanacho know they scored. We know they scored. Keep your eyes on the psychology of the outcome of today's game. Just a while ago you opined that Kayode who is in form should be used rather than Iheanacho in today's match because you felt Iheanacho is not in form and that he lacked confidence. Well, he's scored today and go ask him how he feels.

On your second point I concede that for strategic reasons our rankings need improve(and they are improving and will improve more when we are done with South Africa). But we are looking at building a team that can best even the most formidable teams in the world. Our vision must be high and lofty and it's warranted for us to think this way because just now we have the human resources to push it through to reality.

wow, is this the angle you want to see it from? Dunno whether to call you a pessimist or bad belle.

1) Whoever told you this is funny. The goals scored are in this thing called RECORDS,maybe not FIFA's, but who cares? It is in NFF records, na that one matter to us. Kelechi has his 7 goals, Musa now has his 13th. Your point is moot

2) Dunno why you are so concerned about ranking and seeding. We are currently 38th in the world, we have at least 5 games to go before the ranking that will determine which pot we fall, dunno why you want to have a seizure over that.

Please, we just won Togo 3-0 WITHOUT Mikel, Moses, Ikeme, Akpeyi and Leon, we capped everyone that was in Paris, Alampasu finally got his time between the sticks, Iwobi got two assists, Musa got to score a brace for Nigeria for the first time since 2014. Everyone is on a high considering some of these guys haven't particularly had it rosy these last few months, let them ENJOY it

No need to ruin all that with your twisted view, you can bring up these arguments by Saturday after we have rated and celebrated the team

Actually Safari dear... lemme even correct another erroneous comment of his....

He said Iheanacho's and Musa's goals won't count with Fifa... well he is wrong.

They do count because when Fifa makes reference to there players' careers in the end... they will count these "cateogory: other friendly" matches too.....

Pele's goals records included several unofficial/other friendly/Non-fifa sanctioned games... yet Fifa preserved the records. Same for Romario and some other goalscoring greats.

The goals scored today and the game played today are part of association football records now and will be cited by Fifa at any time except with respect to the FIFA rankings...

His attempts to spoil what a good game this was is already dead on arrival... had Kayode started and scored a hattrick today.... Mickael2 won't bring up this nonsense spoil sport tactic of his. cheesy

The 9 subs meant this was not a grade A friendly. Rohr basically did Togo a favour. Also it shows he doesn't care about rankings but a happy team.

Exactly my point... You just drove it home. Exactly what I have been saying since the first post. It is not a grade A game as it was even outside the window of the FIFA calendar. So Rohr decided to go above the normal six subs and give everyone a run... it is classified under the category of "Other friendly games" as seen in in the FIFA rule book. It is recognised but not just sanctioned for the rankings coz of the nine subs. Every other condition was met... the referees were fifa-graded even.

FIFA Ranking: Rules for friendly matches

football-rankings.info | Friday, November 2, 2012

On 25 October 2012, FIFA sent a circular letter (#1324 - FIFA-Coca-Cola Ranking) to all its members.

Following an analysis of the legal framework, as well as the implementation of the FIFA Regulations Governing International Matches, FIFA would like to clarify the criteria for a match to be included in the list of matches used to calculate the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.
...

International friendlies will only be included on the list used to calculate the ranking if they have been provisionally authorised in accordance with the FIFA Regulations Governing International Matches, which came into force on 1 August 2011. Please refer to circular no. 1273 of 29 July 2011.

Main criteria for an international friendly to be included in the list used for the calculation of the ranking:

• Observance of the Laws of the Game as issued by IFAB and published by FIFA.
• In accordance with the FIFA Statutes, the main referee and both assistants must be listed on the current FIFA list of international referees.
• It is not compulsory that the fourth official be included on the FIFA list of international referees but if a non-FIFA listed fourth official is required to replace the referee or assistant during an international "A" match, this match will not be included on FIFA's list of matches for the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.
• The referee and assistant referees shall be from a neutral country unless otherwise previously agreed by the members concerned.
• Only six substitutions per team can be made during the match.

Matches can be retrospectively removed from the list of matches used to calculate the FIFA-Coca-Cola World Ranking if the Laws of the Game have not been observed

Concerning this friendly, I don't know much about the rules other than FIFA won't count it.
About two years ago, Belgium played Kosovo and I could remember the red devil used more then 6 subs as a result, fifa confirmed that it won't be counted!

But this grade A and B tire me.
Anyway, d most important thing is dat the boys are improving, at least wen we yansh Southee boys like 4-0, it would be counted by force.

So no need for alarm.
They will only get better

Sam Sodje Hails Eagles’ Win Over Togo , Wants Team Bolstered With ‘ Physical ’ Defenders
By Izuchukwu Okosi

Former Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje, has thumbed up the national team following an impressive 3-0 win against the Hawks of Togo in Thursday's international friendly at the Stade Municipal de Saint Leu La Foret in Paris, France,
Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ahmed Musa (brace) and Kelechi Iheanacho scored Nigeria's first half goals against the Hawks as they prepared for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa in nine days time.

Sodje who had four caps for the Nigerian national team spoke with Completesportsnigeria.com on Thursday night about the buildup game.

"I think the win and the fact that the coach introduced lots of good players are good for the national team because

"It shows we have a lot of quality players to pick from in the future and personally, I love the result as we kept a clean sheet," the former Reading, Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion defender told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"That result in Paris will be a big boost for the defenders going into the Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers proper."

Asked whether the Super Eagles need a more physical players at the backline, the younger brother of another former Nigeria international Efe Sodje said it was ideal

"I kind of share that opinion, but as I always say ,there's coaching of how to defend. So I think we need that physical aspect in the national team like we had it when the likes of Uche Okechukwu, Uche Okafor, Austin Eguavoen, Ben Iroha and others played.

"The players there now aren't doing badly anyway. It's not just about the brawl, you need technical players too," Sodje stated.
Gernot Rohr and his team earlier on Thursday welcomed officials of the Nigeria Football Federation and national team sponsors Aiteo Group at the team's Hyatt Regency Hotels abode.

Iwobi ‘ Happy ’ To Bag Two Assists For Eagles Vs Togo
By Johnny Edward

Iheanacho : Super Eagles Will Work Hard And Get Better
By Johnny Edward

Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has promised that the Super Eagles will keep working hard to come better after Thursday's 3-0 win over the Hawks of Togo in an international friendly in Paris France, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Iheanacho bagged his seventh goal for the Super Eagles in his tenth appearance for the three time African champions after Ahmed Musa had scored twice in the opening 17 minutes of the encounter at the Stade Municipal de Saint La Foret.

"Starting the month with a win, great performance from the young #supereagles we keep working hard to get better," Iheanacho wrote beneath a picture via his Instagram wall after the match.

The 20 year old who was replaced by Sikiru Olatunbosun in the 70th minute of the match, has been linked with a move away from the Ethiad Stadium after his bit part role at the club in the outgoing season.

Iheanacho made 20 English Premier League appearances last season scoring four goals following the arrival of Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras in January.

Iheanacho is expected to be handed a starting role in the Super Eagles's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Uyo next weekend.

When several substitutions are made, the game usually loses his rhythm. So it is unsurprising that no goals were added in the second half. Nigeria has developed a very strong team that can even get stronger with all the potential out there. Even within the short period of rohr's stay, we are seeing an evolution in the team. Constantly looking at how positions can be improved.

The NFF has to work out a way to get Nigerian friendlies games on TV. It is a shame that we can not get coverage for our games.

Disagree with the emphasis on physicality. Mobility, technicality and intuition are important parts of defence in the modern game. Even a big defender like Kompany relies more on the technical aspects of the game.

From Romagnoli to Hummels, Otamendi, Stones, Matip, Bailly, Luiz, Silva etc are more inclined towards the technical and mobile side. Like the set up of our defenders.

Well said.... smiley Sam Sodje and his brother Efe Sodje belonged to the class of defenders who were all brute force, less technicality hence his comment.....

Pinnick, Dikko, Aiteo Chieftains Meet Eagles in Paris

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, Second Vice President/LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, and top executives of Nigeria’s foremost energy solutions company, Aiteo Group were at the Super Eagles’ Hyatt Regency Hotel camp in Paris thursday.

The NFF and Aiteo Group signed a landmark 5-Year partnership agreement five weeks ago, which made the energy solutions company Optimum Partner of the NFF.

The company’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Francis Peters and the Group Executive Director (Corporate Services/ General Counsel), Andrew Obinna Onyearu, were with Pinnick and Dikko.

NFF and Aiteo Group’s agreement is to take care of the remuneration of coaches of all the national teams, taking a huge financial burden off the shoulders of the football federation – a move the NFF President has described as the first of several to come.

“We have come to introduce these unique Nigerians (Peters and Onyearu) to you (Super Eagles), so that you can put your minds at rest that all your interests are receiving the right kind of attention by the NFF,” Pinnick assured.

“Aiteo have matched their words with action. The issue of payment of coaches of the national teams will no longer be a headache for the NFF. The first set of payments have been made and all those concerned will begin to get their confirmations any moment from now.”

Both Peters and Onyearu commended the NFF president and his Executive Committee for their efforts in attracting Corporate Nigeria to the Nigerian game, urging the Eagles to stay focused and committed to getting good results on the pitch.

Peters said the partnership with the NFF is only the beginning of many more relationships in the near future.

“We commend this NFF leadership for their foresight and ingenuity. They approached us and we saw that we can help to solve some of these financial challenges and also contribute our quota to the development of the game. We are happy to partner with them. This is just the beginning. I am sure there is still so much more to come,” Peters concluded.

Stats Facts:

- Nigeria's 3-0 Victory over Togo means the three–time African champions remain unbeaten in all their eight matches over the past one year, winning six of those and scoring 15 goals while conceding only five.

- English Premiership club West Ham’s target Kelechi Iheanacho has now scored seven goals in 10 matches for the Super Eagles, including scoring in seven of the last eight matches.

- Leicester City's Ahmed Musa now has 13 international goals for the Super Eagles after scoring the third Brace of his national team career and his tenth brace overall for club and country in the last three years since his double against Messi's Argentina.

- Wolfsburg's Victor Osimhen came off the bench at the start of the second half, replacing Musa (in the 46th minute), and became the first Nigerian player born in 1998 (and born after France 1998) to play for the senior national team.

Mickael2 won't bring up this nonsense spoil sport tactic of his. cheesy

Mickael2... wehdone Sir cheesy

before I start, read this slowly and digest it

Pelé is the top scorer of the Brazil national
football team with 77 goals in 92 official
appearances.[8][192] In addition, he has
scored 18 times in 22 unofficial games.
This makes an unofficial total of 114
games and 95 goals. He has also scored
12 goals and is credited with 10 assists in
14 World Cup appearances, including 4
goals and 7 assists in 1970.[193]

oga, when it comes to goals, unofficial goals are not counted, let's say Martins scored 20 extra goals in unofficial matches, he still won't be our record scorer, do you now understand why the goals don't count?

And what under planet earth are you even yammering about? How did I include Kayode? Oga, check the first comment I made, I said it won't affect our ranking shikena, it was someone that tagged me and I had to give him an extra reason why I think we shouldn't have used up to 9 subs in the game, if you are that much of a fanboy well I am not, Iheanacho is one player, and if he is scoring then I am fine with that, maybe for you when you are eating, sleeping, working, watching tv or even doing anything you are always thinking about Iheanacho(that's why I will be saying another thing and you will start Iheanacho vs Kayode debate) but for me I don't fancy minor debates like that sorry

They will only get better

if I mention this now, someone will start talking about Iheanacho as if he is the Nigerian national football team that will be ranked higher and that I am trying to throw him under the bus
