evilNL: Yoruba's wanted a special status for Lagos, Hausa's wanted North east commission and Ibo's wanted south east development commission. Ibo lawmakers joined Hausa lawmakers to kill the Lagos special status bill and then supported the North east development commission. Yoruba lawmakers have now repaid their Ibo colleagues in similar coin by joining the north to kill the south east development commission bill. At the end of the day, Hausa's got exactly what they wanted while Ibo and Yoruba lost out. Exactly what you get when people refuse to work together out of petty hatred and jealousy. 17 Likes 1 Share |

ivolt:What will you gain from lagos been only single state to be granted a special status , they have North development commission,NDDC,SE and SW can have their development commission also. You people in Nigeria dont want that country to move forward, there is nothing wrong in making Lagos,Anambra and Kano a special status for development which the house did to Lagos Special Status bill, which is an excellent decision, with that development will spread in Nigeria. Nobody kill the lagos status bill 1 Like |

I think it is a shame, trying to get the FG to allocate money so we can further share what the Niger Delta is producing , they will tell u the Niger Delta has a development commission, this is becos they are bloody feeding the entire country even the so called FIRS and Customs monies are greatly tied to Oil gotten from the Niger Delta, if you were to ask them to fund this so called commission by their states in the region contributing solely for the purpose or IGR then they will refuse. 1 Like |

sekundosekundo: Cry babies and kids, so you think once you present a bill it's as good as passed? Is it his personal money? So you can't think that any more money going to a region is equal to less going to other regions without a similar commission. Those are responsible representatives who understand why they are there. What is the mover of the bill giving in return to other regions to make them pass the SE development bill? Has he committed to support any bill dear to the heart of other regions? 5 Likes |

Odingo1:Your head dey there. I honestly do not understand the reason the SW were canvassing for a special status for Lagos. Lagos already has more money ( allocations + IGR), than all other states, Lagos is more credit worthy in the international credit market that all other states in Nigeria. Lagos is about the only state that is developing infrastructurally and in other developmental induces in Nigeria, and you want to take more money from our meagre earnings and give to Lagos. Lagos is already accused of under developing the rest of the country because over 70% of non oil economic activities is concentrated in Lagos. So pumping more federal money in Lagos would lead to further drain of other states of their productive population, further exasperating the population explosion of lagos and its associated social problems. What we should be advocating for is for the creation of special status for one state in each region in order to develop it to a mini "Lagos", that way development would be spread evenly among the regions and relieve the pressure on Lagos. 1 Like |
