Terrain is not an issue when you have soldiers and shovels
"Where a goat can go, a man can go. And where a man can go, he can drag a [field] gun."
William Phillips...

what you said is TRUE... A very important part of the armed force is the logistical operation. if it is flawed then well who knows??

You need a centralized procurement office.

This seems to me like inter-staff (General v General) and inter-service (Navy, Army, Aifroce) d1ck measuring

Before new tanks, IFV's, jets or the like... it needs to be more talk of "what caliber will we all use?" then "what rifle will we all use?" then "how will we transport munitions?" then "what trucks best suit our needs?" and so on and so forth until Nigeria has one general service rifle (one specific type of AK, not just the AK family), one series of LMG, one series of HMG, one series of light/medium/heavy trucks, one light and one medium series of MRAP's, one light and one medium series of IFV's, one MBT, one 155mm gun, one MRLS etc etc etc

You have to build "the system" that is your army or else the individual components (like say, a T90) would be useless.

Sorry if I sound preachy, thats not my intention.

If you speak soundly and with good reasoning then nobody cares how you sound. if you like sound like voodoo priest.

you've said it all.

to add to it-- the military is like a chain everything has to fit in or else in time of stress it will all fall apart and the glue for that chain is sound policy making knowing exactly what you what, how it would integrate with your other platforms and working towards it irrespective of time or cost.

It's not 177 MRAPs, it's a mix with LAVs and God knows what, the donated American MRAPs are significant by numbers no doubt but How did the typhoon come into the equation?
It Would have been infinitely more rewarding to sustain the relationship with china poly technologies and the SA company with their wide range of products, I don't see any long term benefits investing in Streit even though they have set up shop in Nigeria, left to me they are better serving the civilian market and our various security services like civil defense, police and the rest.

You need to look at this from the positive side. Even if it's not purely MRAPs, it is 177 more armour. It's not a bad thing standardised or not. Of all the new armoured vehicles we have, it is only the CS/VP3 we have in decent numbers.

We can talk about standardisation at a later date, we need as much armour as we can get. Let us not look at it like it is a bad thing. The Typhoon was always going to come in, for what ever reasons we no longer found the South-African vehicle suitable and have goon instead for these.

Streit continues to supply security services in Nigeria, they have a shop in Nigeria and have participated in some other Nigerian projects. Ideally i would have loved to go with the ARA purely, but for some reason there have been delays.

Left for me, i'll like to look at the positive aspects of this purchase. Which i am.

Yes it is 177 pieces of armor, great, yayy but I hope it Worth it.
Hell Poly Tech could have supplied more Bigfoot while we wait for the ARA
I am seeing a LAV ...WTH happened to the igirigi, now sidelined to ferrying WAEC question papers?

Innoson group and DICON sign MoU.

We should see another locally built armoured vehicle soon.

Two places Innoson could quickly fill

*Light /Medium Logistics Trucks
* Tactical Vehicles for special units

Let me come at this issue from a different angle
177 APCs spread out among the 8 divisions means we will see a little less of the thin skinned Toyota hiluxes on the front lines meaning less KIA due to IEDS
BIDEXII Two days ago showed on one the US donated MRAPS that drove over an IED , Minimal damage and it only flipped on it's side with probably 100% survivability rate.
I get the STANDARDIZATION process also at some point this needs to be prioritized.
B y the way JAKEPORESHENKO
Where are the APC from?
What are the tech specs on it.
I also saw they are already painted in camo does that mean the y are all headed to the N' EAST?

I think they are from the Streit manufacturing pant in UAE.

BUT JOKES APART ................

177 his no joke ,either LAV,APC or MRAP. that means we are going to see less of toyota hilux and less casualties.

the only bad side is we are not encouraging local industry like the PROFORCE.

That's exactly what it seems like, today MOD procures, tomorrow officer of national security adviser, stuff like this is why we have customs and Nigerian ports authority procuring patrol boats and aircrafts for the navy.

There needs to be a centralized system for procurement.
Permit me to come in.
ONSA no longer procure arms/ military equipments.
MOD is now in charge . due to recommendation by presidential arms committee

Off topic post. There seems to be a lot of money floating around the different agencies these days, maybe NPA Nigerian ports authority can acquire a few of these for the navy, for maritime patrol etc...

I don't know how this whole TSA thing works or how much it's being implemented but to me government agencies still have a lot of money floating around they should put it to good use.

Sorry buddy but if you look at current trends, the Tank will be long gone before modern ATGMs become obsolete. Fact is APS are never going to work 100 % of the time....and although its great to have an APS, any ATMG fired from an aircraft it's bye-bye tank...since even the most modern APS find it very difficult to track objects fired from vertically above.

Lets say ypu bet on ATMG having the edge in the futur, & me on Tanks havin the edge in the futur.
Tanks are not build to fight against planes or helicopters, even 30 mm canon from an heli can make serious damage or destroye a tank
(Armata is coming with Anti-air weaponry... I tell you this is the Tank of the futur)
What tanks do no other vehicle can do that job, ATMG are like hit and run away weapon. 1 shoot and even APS doesnt destroye everything, ATMG doesnt heat everyday, but locate the shooter erday
*Buying T90 for the same price ass Armata for me this will not be a good idea

Some Finance will maybe save this industry, a fund controlled by the MoD specially for the defence industry. And if we want Dicon back so they have to work, less buying more under licence...

The kulbiyow attack video is out. In it you see that the KDF base was completely overrun. As soon as they are engaged KDF soldiers flee and most KIA in flight. Most of the equipment captured is seen in other videos been mounted with A A guns
