Omeruo was played as a DMF this season in his club. Perhaps, is poor defending costs him that position.

As you said, he fumbled against Zambia hence the need to play him at the RB.

If Aweriem performs better than him in camp, he should go and sidon for corner.

[b]Experience should be used when we are talking about a player with class and not one below avera

Rohr Recalls Dropped Watford Loanee Uche Agbo For South Africa Clash

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has handed a recall to Uche Agbo 24 hours after dropping the on loan Watford midfielder in his list of players for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa.

Agbo wasn’t included by the manager in his initial list, but the 23 year old who spent last season at Spanish La-liga side Granada will now join the team when they resume camp in Abuja ahead of the South Africa game.

No reason was given by the coach for his recall, even though team sources confirmed to Owngoalnigeria.com that he has lost his spot in the team to FC Porto teen defender Chidozie
Awaziem ,who has struck a very good understanding with William Troost-Ekong in the central of defence for the team.

Rohr has always called up Agbo due to his abilities to play in more than one role for the team, as even though primarily plays as a defensive midfielder , he is also very much at home as a central defender, but the emergence of Awaziem means the central defence spot is well covered.

Also the midfield options available for the coach are very much ahead of him in the pecking order as the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, John Ogu, Eddy Onazi and new boy Mikel Agu have all proven to be best suited to the way the coach wants to play.

You all will debate tire today una hear.....

Omeruo vs Awaziem. Looolll...

Okay naa.... checked in... Yara Yara...plsss add this to the debate catalog of this house... yes add it under "Debates that prolongs" cheesy

Rohr knows his starting 11 against South Africa already. Onazi will start..... Even though Mikel Agu is good.

But it is in defence that I will confess, I see Rohr shocking us a little... or maybe. shocking some depending on what side of the debate one is....

Normally, Rohr will go with experience in Omeruo over Awaziem... yes I know.... by default, we should expect Ekong-Omeruo.

There is a little thought that if Rohr was thinking of an Ekong-Awaziem start vs SA, Then he may not call up Omeruo. #Selah

But again.... strong case lies on another hand.

Rohr believes in continuity too.... in the last two friendlies, it was Ekong-Awaziem and I felt if Rohr repeated that duo at CB again against Togo, he may be sending us a subtle message to prepare to have Awaziem starting.

It depends on what principle Rohr rates above the other... coz if it is for continuity... he will start Ekong - Awaziem... but if for Experience... he will certainly go with Ekong - Omeruo...

So his choice that day will tell you and I which principle he bends to more.... I rest my case on this Awaziem-Omeruo debate. wink
Rohr is doing something. He's mixing things up so well till he gets a fine blend so much that although he would have his starting 11, he'd want to be so confident to throw in any player just about anytime into the fray. Depth, flexibility, dynamism, unpredictability is what I see him aiming for.

Sir, You should be placing S. Moses and A. Musa side by side in the national team.

If Iwobi was to be an average player who happened to have some dip in form as u stated do you think he would have picked up so easily again? It's just barely 2month ago and from report reaching us from Camp, the dude has gotten his fit back.

As for S. Moses, I am not seeing the FORM you are saying.

Thank God, God's willing we'll all get to watch next weekend fixture against SA(Atleast DStv will show this one).

I have seen Iwobi on the left flank but he didn't impress me. Iwobi is no 10.

If he doesn't play no 10, he should sidon for bench. He will not be missed. Thank you. grin

NFF Take Concrete Steps To Cap Arsenal Linked Starlet, Invite Him To AFCON Qualifier Vs RSA

The Nigeria Football Federation have taken concrete steps to cap the Arsenal linked wonderkid Lateef Omidiji Jnr ahead of the United States and Netherlands, and plan to present him to the public next Saturday before the national team take on South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

It can be exclusively revealed that the Feyenoord striker has been contacted to represent the United States U15 squad ahead of the 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup with a big announcement to be made in the coming days , but the Nigerian Federation are hoping to beat the Americans to this one.

''The Nigerian Federation have invited Lateef for the Eagles game in Uyo next weekend, they want to present him to the media and fans before the game, '' a top source close to the NFF told allnigeriasoccer.com .

''He is supposed to go to a USA U15 camp this summer, end of
June or early July, but he has not decided yet. He may be in Nigeria this Wednesday if he accepts the offer from the NFF.

''USA are looking at him for the 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup. USA plan ahead, they are more strategic, they want to build the team around him. The NFF are talking about the same thing.''

Omidiji trained with the United States U14 squad in California in November 2016 and impressed the coaching staff.

Comfortable on the ball. Picks out passes. He was a midfielder so he is very confident on the ball. He does balloon the ball as often as Omeruo.

Of course, you know most of them are players of Nigerian origin Abroad.

Oga! Shehu Abdullahi, Ikechuckwu Ezenwa, Victor Osimhen, Ibrahim Alhassan, Noah(an injured player) etc should not have been called ahead of some players in Europe, both for the friendly and AFCON.

Why are the coaching crew doing selective selection?

I thought friendlies are meant to give some boys opportunity to show themselves.

Why bring the ones you can easily dispose and no one go raise eyebrow.

When competition come na dat time go clear. Enough said.

They keep working while you bring bench warmers to gain status, ba.

I am very much aware of the antics behind team selection.

Which players be even my players self? grin

Please name those Nigerians born abroad that are eligible to play against South Africa that are worthy of making the team. I need names and not repeating the same statements over and over.

NIGERIAN STARLET HENRY ONYEKURU CONFIRMS ARSENAL OFFER

Following a stunning season in Belgium, the 19-year-old striker has caught the attention of Gunners manager Arsene Wenger
Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru has confirmed that Arsenal have made an offer to secure his services.

The 19-year-old had a breakthrough campaign in the Belgian top-flight in 2016-17, scoring 24 goals in all competitions for Eupen.

His exploits have led to interest from around Europe, but it appears the Gunners are set to win the race for his services by triggering a £6.8 million buy-out clause.

"It’s a good feeling for a club like Arsenal to make a bid for me, this is due to my hard work in training and games," Onyekuru told the Nigerian Football Federation.

Onyekuru's attraction to the Gunners is partly fuelled by his desire to follow in the footsteps of one of his footballing idols.

"Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid," Onyekuru said.

"I was watching him play, watching Arsenal and going to YouTube to watch most of his games.

"I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it's likely to come true and I'm looking towards it at the moment."

Onyekuru made his full Nigeria debut on Thursday, coming on as a 59th-minute sub in the Super Eagles' 3-0 friendly win over Togo.

ok do you know that when Omeruo's club had an injury crisis it was Omeruo that was called upon to play the DMF position, the reason then was that he is the best ball playing CB in the team and one of the best in the league. Check, it's mainly ball playing CBs that are error prone like Pique and Stones just like Omeruo. Omeruo for me is the better and more willing ball playing CB

IDEYE’S BRACE CANCELS MARTINS’ EFFORT IN SHANGAI SHENHUA DEFEAT
By Taiye Taiwo

The Nigeria internationals were on target in a Chinese Super League fixture at the Tianjin Tuanbo Soccer Stadium.

Brown Ideye scored twice to cancel out Obafemi Martins ’ opener as Tianjin Teda sealed a 2-1 win over Shanghai Shenhua on Friday.

Martins got the Gus Poyet’s side off a bright start in the nine minutes into the encounter after converting a Giovanni Moreno’s assist to net his fourth goal in six league games.

After 28 minutes, Ideye scored the equaliser for the Tianjin Tigers before completing the comeback a minute before the end of the encounter.

The former Olympiacos man has now scored four goals in 11 games this season and will hope to increase his tally when the Jamie Pacheco’s men visit Beijing Guoan on June 18.

Tianjin Teda move to 8th in the Chinese Super League table with 13 points from 12 games while Shanghai Shenhua are placed 12th with 12 points from 11 games.

Oga, Lookman, Solanke etc are bamboozing big big teams at the U20 in the English Jersey which we have never seen before.

They are the soul and engine of the team.

They are equally or better than some of our player if given the chance to prove themselves.

Well yes for CB. But let's not all forget how they perform in camp before the actual match is what the coaches see. I'm basing my reasoning in the fact that Omeruo has not played for us as a CB in a long time, and Rihr seems to like Awaziem and Ekong partnership

Arsenal's bid for Henry Onyekuru under threat as Nice table £6.8m offer for the Nigerian youngster
By Simon Jones for MailOnline

**Nice have made a £6.8million move to rival Arsenal for Henry Onyekuru.

**The Ligue 1 side think they have an advantage with Champions League football

**Acquiring a work permit is also easier in France, which could play in their favour

**Arsenal have been told they will have to increase their offer to £7.85m

Nice have made a £6.8million move to rival Arsenal for Nigeria forward Henry Onyekuru.

The French side believe they may hold the upper hand in negotiations as work permit rules are not as strict in France and they can offer Champions League football.

The 19-year-old from Belgian club Eupen has just one cap for his country and Arsenal have been told they will have to increase their own offer of £6.8m to £7.85m plus wages of £35,000 a week to ensure the teenager qualifies for a permit in England under the totting-up procedure.

Nice have a strong reputation in France for recruiting young players and aiding their development. They finished third this season under Lucien Favre who was approached by Borussia Dortmund to take over from coach Thomas Tuchel.

Onyekuru is interested in their project though told the Nigerian Football federation his dream is still to emulate his hero Thierry henry.

'It's a good feeling for a club like Arsenal to make a bid for me, this is due to my hard work in training and games,' Onyekuru told the Nigerian Football Federation.

'Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid,' Onyekuru said. 'I was watching him play, watching Arsenal and going to YouTube to watch most of his games.

'I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it's likely to come true and I'm looking towards it at the moment.'

Onyekuru made his full Nigeria debut on Thursday, coming on as a 59th-minute substitute in their 3-0 friendly win over Togo.

When I saw Osimhen at the U17 world cup, I said to myself that this is an ideal number 9 we have been waiting for.He is a typical number 9 and Rohr trusts him.

Victor Osimhen is the golden boy of Nigerian football.
Tammy Abraham would be an asset if we can get him.

Victor Osimhen would keep getting the invite with Rohr as head coach and even after his exit. Its left for Victor to impress and come good

I would breathe fine if Omeruo,Akpeyi and Ezenwa are left out of the starting 11 against SA.

good move ..I love this
Kudos to the NFF
hope the young man accept the offer
the problem we have been having is that our cadet team coaches seems to be so preoccupied wit marketing players wit their team selections or just too lazy to scout far and near for good players of his kind
