Hello Honda gurus in d house.

I drive a 2001 civic. Noticed my check engine light so I scanned it. The scan result came up with p1457 (solenoid valve).

I've checked on d Internet but it's still not clear to me. Anyone know what this is and d likely cost.

Many thanks in advance everyone.

I drive a 2003 Acura TL Type S. The temperature needle rises anytime I'm stuck in traffic with AC on most especially during hot afternoons. The needle returns to its normal position when I turn off air con. Mechanic said my thermostat is bad which I replaced but the problem is still there. My fans are working perfectly and the radiator is clean. He adviced I change the car radiator to a double cell and everything would return to normal. Please advice.

Did anyone work on your a/c or disconnected your cooling fans recently?

One of the two fans, the one which runs with your a/c might have had its wires reversed. That way, it would be blowing outwards rather than suck in air to help cool the radiator-condenser complex.

This scenario could lead to what you've described.

Cheers!

Yes, there was a day the AC stopped blowing cold. I went to refill it only to find out the compressor wasn't running. The AC man called a rewire who checked my wires, worked around the fuse box but couldn't find anything. He had to connect the compressor directly to the relay switch under the hood with a wire. I later found out the reason why the compressor refused to work was as a result of a blown fuse. I replaced it with a new one but I didn't disconnect the wiring under the hood so as not to mess up my car. Could this be the reason why the temperature kept fluctuating? The fans start running immediately I turn ignition on too. The cat wasn't acting like this before not until that rewire did that stuff.

The 'rewire' has messed up the wiring of one of your fans. You may need to reverse the connection. It's an easy fix, if it is the problem. What will give it away is the finding of one of your fans blowing air outwards (confirm this first).

As for your fans working immediately you turn the keys, your thermostat may have been bypassed. Hence, doesn't control the workings of the fan anymore..but I assure you it is not the cause of the overheating. That may only affect your fuel economy.

Cheers!

This particular issue will require troubleshooting the evap system for leakages along its lines.e.g the evap purge line, test the solenoid, canister ,canister vent valve etc
You will need to understand the routing of the evap lines to accurately determine how to do the tracing and in most cases you will need a vacuum pump and component actuation scan-tool to achieve .this is beyond a DIY job and will require a professional to handle this
contact my no at my signature if you interested in fixing this.

Diagnosis and troubleshooting down to the root of the issue is what is paramount and key here .

Known Problem

Also applies to 2002 Honda CRVs

We need to check if the EVAP system is functioning as designed

That may involve testing for internal leaks

There exists the possibility that you have a bad EVAP Canister Purge Valve

Is your vehicle manual? Automatic? Or CVT?

Is yours a 2-door or 4-door Civic?

Are you a handyman or will you need expert assistance? Where are you located?

Don't just jump to cost, there is a process of diagnosis by elimination that needs to followed, so when a part is replaced, the MIL goes forever.

That diagnosis will cost you, but it makes more sense that buying parts with no guarantee whatsoever of fixing the problem.

It is only after the diagnosis is concluded that the issue of cost of parts should arise.

LX or EX trim? Thats is, 1 or 6 loader?

Is the display visible in the day or not?

Is the audio system working or not?

Both have the same problem and even worst. It happened to my 1 loader (LX), the problem is from the audio system circuit board.

Mine was worked on by soldering a certain part of the board. The 2 boards are different.

please who worked on yours and where. Mine is killing me. 2006 DC, 1 loader. The car isn't even up to a year

In Kaduna. I really cannot identify exactly the part to be soldered for the 1 loader but for the 6 loader, the picture is the one i uploaded. I got tired with mine till i was lucky to get a new board.

The 1st code from research online points to an oil pressure sensor.
Does anyone know how much it costs?
The 2nd I guess is from a sound I hear when I step on the throttle, sounds like the exhaust but I've checked that out, it's not.
Any resolutions?

A small sensor attached to your rocker arm, could be affected by dirty rocker arm and prevents the car from going beyond a particular RPM. Replace sensor (2-3k) and clean rocker arm

EGR valve or charcoal canister is cylindrical valve very visible on your engine and the toks is 5k.
