An average Igbo man has his own business and with that u can't actually estimate how much tax he will pay.

If we are to hold the view that Lagos state economy is being dictated by the igbos, then we must remove lagos state out of the stat, which then brings souht west down to an equal level with south east ( 5 - 5 states).
However, if we are to deduct lagos state's N302,425,091,969 from the total south west IGR N414,847,500,567 then we will be having roughly about N110...,...,..., which still EXCEEDS the total south east IGR N49,934,646,220.
My point is: even without lagos state, south west still beats south east in terms of IGR.

Another thing that is clear from this statistics is that every region in Nigeria depends on oil from the Niger Delta. It is not as if they can't work harder to survive without oil money, but if you compare what they're generating currently to what they're receiving in federation account allocation, then you would understand why they're so lazy.

Another thing from the statistics is that the South-West is the only region in Nigeria that can survive right now no matter what happens in the oil industry. Funny enough, they're also the only region making the least noise and focusing completely on development. No wonder the economy of the country is controlled by individuals from that region.

Look at Lagos, look at Ogun, look at Kano, look at Rivers State and the high IGR they all command... Igbos are one of the biggest contributors to those IGRs, not by force but by choice, and they do so by freely associating with people from those regions. But Ogun State alone generates more revenue than all the south-eastern states combined, which means that on the strength of this statistics, it is arguable that the Igbos do better by associating with other people, and will perform woefully by staying on their own.

Ogun state is enjoying from lagos spill over, many companies are buying land in ogun simply because lagos is filled.

Also, i will say south west are blessed to be located at d entrance to nigeria and by d sea. Many developments from d outside world starts from lagos and ogun because of easy access and exit.

I know many oil companies dat prefer to locate their head quater in lagos instead of d south south where Dey operate due to ease of transport.

So the IGR is not about SW being d best or whatever but because virtually all oil companies and all major companies headquarters are in lagos and also d entire country is well represented in lagos.

Ogun in d next 20years may have dsame IGR with lagos due to spillage from lag.

The igr of Lagos is coming from no other place than import duties in fact import duties is contributing to 90% of Lagos igr, (both lands and sea borders). And who are those paying this duties? The biafrans. This is why the FG is discouraging any other sea port that will mount as challenge to Lagos port.

Lagos IGR was very low then but the tax base was already there and was created during the 60's and 70's. What Tinubu did was just to tax an already made base. Tax specialists call it "Low-hanging fruits"

Low hanging fruits are in every region but they can't be like Lagos's own. And mind you, the IGR of East for 2016 might be poor but this year's own can be very different. IGR of Nigerian States fluctuates a lot. When last year's figures were released Kwara was quite low but they have gone up now. Some few years ago (2014)apart from Lagos, no South-west state measured up to Enugu but this year even IB beat Enugu. Anambra was like the 6th last year but this year it did not release so IGR figures flunctuate.

This was the IGR figures in Nigeria as at 2014.

In that year, the South-East generated about 61.1 billion Naira in IGR while the South west minus Lagos generated 57.3 billion Naira. Are you now going to tell me that between 2014-2015 the economy of the south-east became very "unviable" and worse than that of the North-central and the North-west? Abeg leave trash for LAWMA. We all know how states treat IGR as far as their FAAC is okay for them.
