Hi Guys,

I need some advise please. My family and I are travelling to the US in August primarily for a Family Vacation but my wife will stay back to have our second child. Visas, Hospital and Accommodation have been sorted out - OK. I am now trying to book our travel tickets but I have a concern. I have found a fairly affordable ticket on Emirates Airline but I'm a bit worried with having to transit via Dubai considering the hullabaloo about Donald Trump's Travel Ban (I Know Nigeria is not listed, neither is the UAE but I'm just worried about the current issues in that region i.e QATAR issues).

That said, I just need comments from anyone who has traveled recently to the US via Dubai. Your experience would really help me make this decision as choosing a different airline will increase my tickets cost by almost a million naira. Guys Epp a brother...

P.S.: My entry port to the US will be LAX, Los Angeles CA.

Oshee....
Go ahead no shaking if your connecting time is more than 4hours you can pay for lounge access in one of the many lounge in DXB..The problem with Qatar will not affect Emirates schedule except the flights they cancelled going to Doha.. I'm just waiting for Qatar airline to reduce ticket price to U.S

Hi VO
Interesting platform and I must say I gained a lot here and I was issued my first US visa on a new passport this year February 2017....I also travelled to Us staying not more than 18days and back in Naija. I also visited Ankara in Turkey for 2days during same trip just to make my passport upgraded in a way.

I work with a multinational company , and would love to go on a vacation with my family for 3weeks towards December 2017.

When applying for my family visas ,do i need to ;

Present my current valid passport with valid US visa ?

Do I need to pay for another visa fee for my self apart from my kids and spouse fees?

On the d day of interview do I need to accompany my family because am sponsoring all?

I need your clarification on the above and I count on you to have a swift feedback.

Thank you.

Im so happy. Got my us visa yestrdy at lagos with my mum.. We were nt asked fr a single document.my mum has travld to america bfr n i hvnt. Was givin the visa on a virgin passport. My advice is that fill your ds 160 correctly, have a valid and sincere reason for traveln, pray and be confident

American consular officers don't care for your prayers. If you're honest, you won't need to pray.

You should be fine. Donald Trump really hasn't changed a thing about immigration rules... for all his noise.

Just renew your passport later after visa is granted, be in possession of both the old and new passports when ready to travel, then have a pleasant trip!

Hello, everybody. My husband and I wish to apply for the b1/b2 by August. We have travel together - Schengen, UK, UAE. He's a public servant of 10 years and work with a Conglomerate for 2 years. We travel mostly without our 2 kids for now cos we use the trips to rekindle the passion and rediscover ourselves. Kindly assist with the following questions:

1. Can we apply more than 6 months in advance of the trip? For adequate planning.

2. Will it matter to the VO that we are traveling without the kids? We plan to go to NYC now and on a later trip take the kids to Disney Orlando.

3. What is the latest interview slot available on a given day? 10 am?

Thanks aplenty

Hello Guys,

Got my visa on June 6th 2017 (7:30am) at the Lagos US Embassy. I was denied in Abuja in 2015 when i applied for a business conference.

I must state here, I have learn a lot from this thread. Intending Applicants should go through this thread from the beginning to the end, so they can learn from other people's experience. Its Ok to be panic when you see the crowd inside the Embassy, but keep calm and focus on your application.

My interview lasted for about 5-6mins, The VO really took her time.

Here is my Transcript:

VO: Hello, Good Morning (With a lovely smile)
Me: Good Morning, Passes my passport through her window.

VO: Why are you traveling to the US?
Me: To visit my Friend and his lovely family, and also for tourism purpose.

VO: Where are you going in the US?
Me: Am going to Atlanta, Georgia.

VO: So, Where will you be staying when you get there?
Me: I will be staying with my Friend at his home address - Bla Bla Bla

VO: OK, What do you do for work?
Me: Am an Accountant with so so so Company.

VO: Are you chartered?
Me: No, am not chartered. (VO says Ok)

VO: Tell me your Job duties?
Me? I explained my job in detail. (she didnt allow me to finish and move to the next question)

VO: What does your company do and how long have you been working there?
Me: I told her in brief, 2 years now.

VO: Before that, Where did you work and why did you leave your formal job?
Me: I was ready for another stage in my career and a new challenge, Bla Bla Bla.

VO: How many employees do you have in your present company?
Me: I told her..

VO: So, how long will you be staying in the US?
Me: I will be staying for 4weeks

VO: Are you married?
Me: Yes, am happily married with a beautiful daughter. ( VO keeps typing on her computer)

VO: And, how old is your daughter?
Me: She's 5years old

VO: So why are you not traveling with your family?
Me: My wife couldnt get a leave at work at this time ( VO says ok i understand)

VO: What does your friend do for work and how long has he been in US?
Me: I told her....

VO: What is his legal status and contact address?
Me: I told her....

VO: I see you travelled to Kenya, why? (She asked because i have been to UAE, South Africa and kenya)
Me: I told her in brief...

Then the Magic word came smiley smiley Am gonna approve your Visa, Enjoy your vacation, thank you, and she gave me the white paper.

God's Favour worked for me. No document was checked

NB: Applicant should always keep in mind that the interview process is not about documents, it's about the VO having a conversation with you about your traveling plans, and just make sure you answer them honestly and clearly.

Thank you Guys... #PEACE & LOVE

Hello Everyone,

I live in the U.S and have plans to invite my parents and only sibling to visit me in the summer, so they applied for a B1/B2 visa together and went for the interview together. My parents were given visas but my sister was denied. With that result, we decided for the family visit in December for xmas to give my sister time to reapply again. A lot of questions are going through my head as to why they denied her. She just turned 22 and completed her NYSC. What advice can i get for her before she applies again? Is the B1/B2 the best option for her or should she try coming in as a student?. I don't want her looking desperate and would prefer her to try the B1/B2 application again. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks.

Why exactly do you have the student visa as an option? Your parents likely may or can not misuse the particular visa so to speak, the probability of your sister doing the opposite is high. Her ties ain't tight enough yet in my opinion. What will bring her back to Nigeria if granted the visa?

I want her to visit the US before she applies for her Masters program. She is currently working although it's been only for 5 months and that's not enough to convince them for a visa. How much tie can an average 22 year old in Nigeria have at this point in their lives apart from a good paying job which she has.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 7:08pm On Jun 08, 2017
She has to qualify on her own merits, and that seems to be sorely lacking. I.E. WORK, FINANCES AND MAYBE TRAVEL HISTORY.
