URGENT PLEASE GUYS I NEED YOUR URGENT ADVICE I will be funding part of my study, I will provide the 10k+CAD myself (the minimum expenses as it is written on cic website ) My uncle (Maternal) will be paying my tuition and other expenses like textbooks and health insurance. However the tuition fees is allowed to be paid over 9 times which makes it very easy for my uncle as I have explained in detail in my sop (I have not submitted my app yet ) and he explained too in his sponsor letter too. My point is, Hope this payment arrangements will not be a big issue or red flag to the VO (note that the arrangement is official, as it is stated on the financial form of the school( and I confirmed this from the graduate admin officer with an email response backing this) , the form which am submitting with my app too(financial form ) Thank you so much |

The other responder before you alluded that all Canadian visas issued for those resident in the United States, are processed through the VAC Centers in Los Angeles. While, VAC is only a private service that charges you and helps you with your application. VAC is not the Canadian embassy or consulate and does not purport to be so. VAC does for you, what you can do for yourself. You don't need them if you know what you are doing. VAC helps you with your application and submits the application where it should have gone in the first place directly from you if you reside in the United States: Los Angeles or New York. Yes, Seattle to my experience, processes a Canadian visa too. I know friends who walked in there and got their visas within 24 hours. But I just checked and it has been discontinued in 2012. So only New York and Los Angeles left now. You are correct, a person with a valid I-20 that continues to attend school and remain registered through SEVIS, can apply for a Canadian visa and not be considered out of status even if visa has expired. We all know that a visa in itself does not confer any legal status on a person or guarantee entry to a country. Its the designation of the immigration officer at the port of entry that does so. However, student status is not what I was referring to when I talked about people out of status been able to apply for Canadian visa. I was referring to a bilateral agreement that Canada reached with the USA many years ago, to allow people who have overstayed their USA visa and are out of status for not more than a year, to be allowed to be able to apply for Canada visa. I am not sure if this policy remains active as all immigration laws are not static or a model of clarity, but morph and change with the times. So yeah I agree with the caveat for everyone to check what they read here and not accept thing read here as sacred relic. thesoj: 1 Like |

By all means disclose that you were refused a visa. Under the Biographic Visa Immigration Sharing between USA and Canada, they can find out. The reason is not always asked, only whether you were ever denied is what is asked. If you were denied before the advent of Biometrics (Pre-1999), you could have gotten away with it by not disclosing. mcobex: |

jnyuwa02: Hello boss, Have you recieved for final documents from your prospective school? I think it is high time we put to bed this issue/question. No one knows for sure what goes on in the Canada Visa Offices. While they might allow one to apply from a country other than his or her country of citizenship or legal residence(either by the virtue of work, study or any other reason that allows for a LONG stay), there might be some factors in play here. Perhaps, applicants from certain countries cannot enjoy this privilege, or perhaps not. In the long run, it is at the discretion of the CVOs. So boss, if you have all your documents, I urge you to apply from Nigeria to avoid stories and in the long run waste the time you supposedly dont have. However, if applying from cameroun is top most on your mind, I still urge you to start the process immediately too. I do not know how long it takes to get a camerounian visa, however time is of the essence here. But, if you do decide to apply from cameroun, please update us. We can learn a thing or two. Goodluck. |
