Exclusive – Rohr Goes For 4-3-3, Omeruo Dropped, Awaziem To Partner Ekong in Central Defence

Reports reaching Owngoalnigeria.com has it that FC Porto Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem will pair William Troost-Ekong in the heart of Nigerian defence when they take on South Africa tomorrow.

Awaziem was selected ahead of Chelsea defender Kenneth ‎Omeruo as coach Gernot Rohr wants to work with majority of the players who were with him in the training tour of France.

The coach maintained the bulk of the squad that defeated Togo 3-0 in their last friendly game with Mikel Agu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa the only players dropped for the returning duo of Ogenyi Onazi and Daniel Akpeyi.

It’s still unclear if the dropping of Omeruo who has been a stalwart in the heart of Nigeria’s defence since 2013 has anything to do with the physiological edge South Africa striker Tokelo Rantie has over him.

The last time Nigeria played South Africa in Uyo, the game ended 2-2 but Omeruo struggled to keep the rampaging forward in check, and with the forward set to lead the line again for South Africa on Saturday, it could be that he has cost Omeruo his spot in the Nigeria team for the clash.

Rohr has also picked 4-3-3 as the style his team will adopt against South Africa, who are hoping to end an unpleasant run of no win against Nigeria in any competitive game, as their only win came in a friendly game in 2004.

Confirmed Line -Up.

Daniel Akpeyi

Shehu Abdullahi

Elderson Echiejile

William Troost-Ekong

Chidozie Awaziem

Ogenyi Onazi

Oghenekaro Etebo

Wilfred Ndidi

Ahmed Musa

Alex Iwobi

So why would you start a player who cannot play 90 mins, especially if you plan on starting TWO of them? That's like deliberating walking with ONE leg when you've got two legs. Do you wanna cut your options of making changes by more than 75%? What if a pair of players got injured?

Yes as Komekn stated you have to go through the NFF. Until 2011 the license is given directly by FIFA. Being an agent is a profession. Hence, there is no restriction as regards gender. Also in 2015 FIFA replaced the FIFA Agents Regulations with new regulations. In fact football agents are now called intermediaries. There are no qualifications besides that you have to be at least 18 I think.

Steps to take
1. Registration
You will have to register with NFF. And it a yearly membership fee. I am not an intermediary else I would have had the info handy lol.
I believe there are documents you will need to sign form my research, by FIFA standards, an Intermediary Declaration and you need to satisfy the requirements of a "Test of Good Conduct"(naija na naija).

I will encourage good networking. In fact in any field of endeavor the advantage of networking cannot be overemphasized. My suggestion is to register for one of the membership packages at thenff.com (http://www.thenff.com/membership-tiers/).
This will give you an opportnunity to start to rub shoulders with people with like minds.

Also plan to draft a Representation Contract agreement. Which you would use in future to establish binding contracts between you and your clients.

Also keep this in mind:
SKILLS AND QUALITIES
Since there are no entry requirements to become an intermediary here are some skills that will come in handy:

– Work experience with a sports agency: Contact agencies to see if there are any internships/jobs available. That way you will get to know people in the industry and learn about the procedures.
– Contacts within football industry: In this business, connections are very important. They help you reach more players and clubs making your job as an intermediary much easier.
– Legal knowledge: It might come as a surprise but an intermediary needs a lot of knowledge about contract law. It is common for intermediaries to have a law degree or some other type of law education.
– Business knowledge: The other part of your job will be negotiating so business knowledge is also very important.
– Football knowledge: You will need to understand the game of football and how to spot talent. After all, better clients mean more income for you.
– Social skills: Intermediary doesn’t only take care of contract negotiations. A lot of times he also takes the role of player’s PR. He often even gives advice to players regarding their personal issues.

Everything you say is correct.

But I would qualify it with one over riding phrase.

WHO DO U KNOW.

I know multiples of agents who have registration but don't know anybody. Indeed this is not too sound conceited but they often come to me.

Networking. That's one skill many Nigerians lack. But we blame the system every time. Everyone feels nothing works so they never try -- consistently

Networking in Nigeria and networking in the UK are totally different add to the mix being black and you got your work cut out.

Finally, you often project from your social circle. How many black managers deh English football. How many recruitment heads are black in the league system.

You see d wahala.

Hard but not impossible got to be versatile and ingenious.

Isn't he attacking minded?
If if he is defensive, comparing him to Ndidi is sacrilegious.

A player who is chopping bench everyday grin

Tho I know u re just having fun towards that comparison but it's too far and it would be better if you do compare him to Grade A bench warmers like him

sir...I don't think so
to these guys they've made the best decisions ever to choose England over Nigeria....
only a miracle will make any renege on these pledge....
moreover many will be drafted into the 3 lions sooner or later...the English FA will want to infuse some into the 3 lions team....so as to to transfer same success to the senior team...
You cant be too sure of that. Most footballers play for reputable countries for age-grade tournaments, but prefer the senior teams of their birth nation; an example is Zaha. The reason is mainly becos during this period; they have a better chance of developing in those 'developed' countries than the African countries. But as they age, and it bcomes difficult to enter the team, they start to deviate towards the country of birth.

However, this ia not in all cases such as in Alli's case.

Pity England na. Since the world cup triumph in 1966 they've not had any silverware. They are hungry. Please let them win. The foreign borns who will choose us will still do but biko let England win. I always support them sha and I really can't say why.
