...Wao! In less than 24 hours, I got 4 people asking almost the same question. That means it must be critical!!!

Looking at the charts below, the 2 banks have recently rallied and are now "dangerously" sitting on long term resistance price level. A break above this level is very important to the stocks.

Which stock is preferred?
To attempt to select a preferred stock, I based my analysis on Sentiment and Sector comparison

1. POSITIVE SENTIMENT
Both FCMB and Fidelity are enjoying positive sentiment from investors cum traders, however, Fidelity is showing more participation and greediness than FCMB

2. SECTOR COMPARISON
Year-To-Date comparison of the 2 stocks with the financial sector index shows that Fidelity Bank has over-performed the sector with over 65% price appreciation while FCMB is under-performing the sector and cashing up at a faster rate (about 28% price appreciation).

PREFERRED STOCK
I tend to prefer Fidelity Bank stock to FCMB as it's having good participation/sentiment and currently performing better than the sector index.
It is generally belief in the technical "world" that a stock that is over-performing the market always do well in sort- to medium term, however, any negative info in the future can impede such stock's performance.

grin grin grin grin grin

Thanks boss, well appreciated.

How market?

I have gone ahead to buy more of FBN, Oando, Tiger Brands, Nahco, AG Leventis, Learn Africa, Livestock Feeds and Transcorp.

No major reason why besides, it is sales!!! I just feel like spending some money, same as others would go to a shop and buy themselves clothes or cars. The only stock I plan on selling when things pick up is FBN.

Goodwill hunting...

Sales is good! Now is the time to spend some money, FBN are you ready to be sold? I see lots of lovers for you here...

Hello everyone. I wish to appreciate you all for the information being disseminated on this forum. I strongly believe a lot of lives have been transformed for the better via this very insightful forum. Although i am relatively new, both on this forum and trading in stocks as a whole, i intend to trade on a weekly bases (say buy on Monday and sell on Friday). Can anyone assist with stock recommendations for the week? or are they sites i can visit for such information from time to time? I will appreciate any assistance I can get from here.

Steps the two of you need to take;

1. Define your investment objective: do you want to buy for short term or long term

2. Stock market is not a Ponzi scheme as such it requires having knowledge of the market dynamics, micro and macro economics at large. To acquire knowledge, go and start reading from page 2000...It contains thoughts and experiences of members you need to start.

3. Don't be a stranger to investopedia, and other financial news and informative websites.

4. Start small as stock trading is very risky. You can loose money and as well gain money if intuition, caution and diligence is not applied. So, I will advise, as the saying is on the forum, you start with money you can afford to loose, say like N50k.

5. Never be tired asking questions on this forum...It costs nothing except data ... grin

6. Don't give out your email address or Phone number...it's not encouraged on this forum.

7. Good luck.

You will quickly develop high blood pressure using the pattern of buying on Monday and Selling on Friday. Stocks investing is for the PATIENT. Use funds that you can afford to forget for a while (if possible 2 yrs), not what you need weekly. It's not like buying and selling crayfish. I made returns this year for stock investments I made since 2015. A lot of good stocks have been recommended in this forum FBNH, DANGOTE FLOUR, TRANSCORP, FIDELITY, FCMB, DIAMOND, UACN, FLOUR MILLS, TOTAL, etc. Most of these stocks previously battered are retracing northwards, so don't scared by occasional pullback. Stocks don't move in a straight line. Again JIJO is tedious, keeps you anxious, sometimes you end up losing profits and good positions. Happy investing

To add to the bolded, 2years should be subject to periodic review, say like every 6 months based on experience...The risk and uncertainty pervading Nigeria business space calls for intermittent portfolio assessment in monitoring one's investment by not waking up to hear about the demise of the company or one's investment has been eroded...This is very key to me.

On JIJO (trading), it's part of the market dynamics coz everybody need not be an investor. People have their own strategy and the choice is theirs to decide what they want and not that you will be discouraging the poster...Whether short or long, market generally comes with its own psychological and emotional effect on traders and investors...The upside of being a trader is the fact that the profit an investor will realize at maturity he would have made at least twice of it at minimum...

So, I will rather advise the poster to decide on the route he wants to take because it is his own sole responsibility after providing an unbiased guidance

Yeah 6 months review of portfolio is fine. Weekly JIJO should be discouraged. That really isn't the philosophy of the stock market trading. Short-term trading is at least 2 months. One should have either short, medium or long term approach. Weekly JIJO is for crayfish sellers, it doesn't help the market stability and general wellbeing of the individual. But who am I to dictate what another does with his funds. This is just my own opinion

grin grin cheesy. Crayfish sellers is more or less the pseudonym for weekly JIJO. Companies need not be traded that way. Imagine how the company register of shareholders will look like and the registrar who keeps updating JIJOist. Common commodities like crayfish are traded that way. No hurt intended.

There is no need for watsapp or other social media platform...this forum is filled with so many intellectuals in stocks business..

Always ask your questions openly and you will get answers from gurus here....as you may regret any private chart with any individual in this faceless forum..

As oga coolcash has said...start with N50k and learn how to trade first....dont forget you can loose your money or profit from your investment....can you withstand loosing money and do not panic...

My rule is I never loose or profit until i sell my share.....all the profit or loss are paper gain or loss until i sell it.....for example, after buying FBNH shares 2years ago, i lost almost 700k within a week, i was not disturbed because i know patience is the key....i kept on buying more FBNH shares....today, the profit i have made in the same FBNH share is much....as i always said, if you cannot have patience in stock excange, you may keep loosing money..

All the best in your investment as you start this journey.....meet you at the top...
