ARMY SENTENCES SOLDIERS FOR VARIOUS OFFENCES


.... as National Human Rights Commission praises Army for transparency in trial
The General Court Martial (GCM) sitting at 7 Division, Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Borno State has concluded the cases of 5 soldiers bordering on violation of human rights and other operational offences in Operation LAFIYA DOLE.
Delivering judgement, the President of the Court , Brigadier General Olusegun Adeniyi announced
the court sentence of reduction in rank to Private in 2 count charges for Sergaent Samuel Balanga who is convicted for desertion and miscellaneous offences. Similarly, the court sentenced Private Chima Samuel who was convicted for aiding and abetting murder of a minor Yakubu Isah in Maiduguri to 15 years imprisonment. Lance Corporal Hilary Joel who was convicted for murder of a suspected Boko Haram terrorist in Damboa was sentenced to death. Also Corporal Aliu Audu who was charged for assault was reduced to the rank of Private. Trooper Sunday Ogwuche who was convicted for stealing and unlawful possession of 641 rounds of 7.62mm Special was sentenced to 2 years and 5 years imprisonment.
The representative of the National Human Rights Commission present in court, Barr Jumai Usman Mshelia who is the Commission Acting Zonal Coordinator in Borno State commended the Nigerian Army for the transparency in the trial of the a accused soldiers . She expressed delight that the Nigerian Army has shown that it is a discipline organisation and airing personnel are tried for wrong doing. She was happy that justice has been served

TROOPS NEUTRALIZE NOTORIOUS BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS AND RESCUE 9 MINORS


Following credible and confirmed information about the convergence of some elements of suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Jarawa village, Kala Balge Local Government Area, Borno State, troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade Nigerian Army of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, in conjunction with some Civilian JTF, Sunday 11th June 2017, carried out a successful clearance operation along that axis.
At about a Kilometre to Jarawa village, the troops entered heavy Boko Haram terrorists’ ambush, which they successfully cleared after about some minutes of fire fight. They followed it up in hot pursuit of the fleeing insurgents into the nearby forest.
The troops were able to neutralize a large number of Boko Haram terrorists including the notorious Abu Nazir, the terrorists’ Amir in Jarawa during the operation.
They also captured several weapons including an AK-47 rifle, 1 Double barrel gun, 1 primed heavy Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and 3 Motorcycles.
Additionally, they rescued 9 abducted children undergoing training at the terrorists’ training camp in the village.
The minors have been evacuated and are being given preliminary humanitarian assistance in preparation to handing them over to Kala Balge Internally Displaced Persons Camp Management Committee.

174 BATTALION OFFERS COMMUNITY SERVICE IN IKORODU


Today, as part of their contribution to host community and to further enhance cordial civil-military relations, troops of 174 Battalion, 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, located at Odogunyan, performed an extra-ordinary community relations activity along Ikorodu-Sagamu road which lasted from 7.30am-3.10pm. The troops led by the unit’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Benedict Chinwuba Ezeh, cleared the blocked drainage system along Ikorodu-Sagamu road and filled up the potholes at Odogunyan Bus Stop and the Market area.

NAF AIRLIFTS FOOD ITEMS IN SUPPORT OF FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S NEW INITIATIVE FOR IDPs


The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recently deployed its C-130H transport aircraft and Mi-17 helicopter in support of the new plan announced by the Federal Government for delivering relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Northeast Region. The Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, while unveiling the new plan in Maiduguri, Borno State on 8 June 2017, said IDPs would no longer have to queue for food but rather have the food items delivered at their doorsteps. According to the Acting President, the food items were transported from various parts of the country “and in some cases airlifted by the NAF”.
As the exercise commenced, the NAF C-130H aircraft airlifted hundreds of bags of food items weighing about 10,000kg to Maiduguri with plans to use the Mi-17 helicopter to ferry some of the items to selected IDP camps. In addition, the NAF provided Combat Air Patrol around Maiduguri metropolis during the occasion. The exercise is a continuous one and the NAF would continue to ensure the availability of its aircraft to support the Federal Government initiative, in partial fulfillment of its constitutional roles.

From the video, it was so obvious that an audio was superimposed on Shekau's old video. Nothing to worry about apart from the way Maiduguri defence failed.
