I've been here recently it's a really quiet nice serene place in nyeri. Basically no tv, no music, no internet it's a place you go with your special someone and enjoy nature or make babies.lol

well I don't like one sided opinions, so google helped a bit. I'm good at history yet never knew you both fought a war as recent as 2000. Google described Ethiopia and Eritrea as 2 of the most poorest countries in the world. like most wars, it was a senseless one fighting over the badme border. Eritrea were the aggressors though, and I learnt tensions still spring up with a risk of a future war. I just feel it's a scenario too similar to Nigeria's. I'll have to read it all sometime to fully grasp what went wrong between both countries.

I did,early in the morning they wake you up to see the elephants right underneath the hotel I've never been that close to wild animals. One thing I didn't like is at night there happens to be quite a number of owls and you know what culture says about owls..lol

Do Agew get discriminated against in Ethiopia. A long time ago, I heard about the Agew living near lake Tana and how they have hippo in their diet. Someone was saying how other people use derogatory terms to refer to them. I can't really remember the details.

Yes, they are discriminated, especially by Amharas and Tigrays. Hippo in the diet? I never heard of it. Most of the present day Gojjam(Tana lake found in this zone) were under Agew Mider(like many other areas in Eritrea, northern and central Ethiopia before) during 14th century, but they were conquered by the Amharas under Atse(emperor) Amda Seyon and started to be mixed with the Amharas and most of became Amharanized and still are being Amharanized. The Kemant Agews in Gonder, Agew Awi in Gojjam and Hemra Agews Wag Hemra are also being Amharanized as we speak. What sadden me the most is how can an Amhara and Tigray whose background is mostly Agew insult the Agew people. But Agews are a very proud people. They had achieved many great things. The 11 monolithic rock-hewn churches were built by Agew people. It's one of the 9 Ethiopia UNESCO heritage. I'm very proud by my partial Agew background.

Yes, there are. There are 2 Agew zones in Amhara region and those zones have towns, which are inhabited mostly by Agews. But the towns are very few in numbers.

I don't know what was exactly the original cultures of Amharas and Tigrays back then, but I believe it's basically the same now as before. Amhara and Tigray cultures are combination of different Semites/Agew and few others mix. Agew culture nowadays is also mixed with Amharas and Tigrays. Like our national dish Injera was first used by the Agews.

Hello! They may be mixed with Arabs but you still have indigenous berbers. I think berbers always looked like that simikae to nubians but I could be wrong.
