A man somewhere in Ekpan, was once addressed as "Mr" in an invitation letter. The man sent back the invitation letter to the priest that sent it to him, with the following message, "why did you address me as " Mr" when I am an Engineer.
Funny thing is that the priest had no idea that he is an Engineer.
You see, the man may not even be COREN registered nor a member of Nigeria Society of Engineers. He may never have seen the 4 walls of a Tertiary Institution...
But he is a Nigerian. Typical of us, we are title crazy...

Now, in contrast, 15 years ago, a certain doctor once told me that he aspires to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Britain's version of ACS) and that when it happens he shall simply be addressed as "Mr"....
At the end of the day, all these titles are just vanities that do not add value to the world.

WE NIGERIANS SHOULD CHANGE OUR PRECEPTION TOWARDS THINGS!

The fact is that most of all this people parading themselves with titles up and down know nothing or little about their supposed profession.

A Prof from the US in my dept specifically told us to call him by his name,he hasn't finished talking,the HOD(A typical Ilesha man) was passing and someone called him Doc,d student was naive of his rank,hell was let loose that day,we were just laughing.
