Come on. Amunike saw beyond it but the NFF did not. It is unfair he takes the blame for the callousness of the NFF team. That team deserved better and Nigeria is blessed with a homegrown brilliant tactician like Amunike. We will do ourselves a disfavor if we do not use him and allow quacks run our football.

amuneke ruined his chances to make history
let me tell you...siasia worked in a more worse situation prior the under 20 world cup 2005 he even resort to borrowing frm some of the players like Mikel....
same siasia went through similar situation prior the all Africa games...he was even threatened to be sacked...
but the dude never relent
he kept working hard..making his good works speak for him...
likewise keshi....too
so why can't amuneke toil same path....?
because of the need for gratifications he toil wit his career.....
he dented his career....one will expect him to get a job in Europe wit his coaching certificates by now...but he won't go for it neither will he get it...
because his kind can ruin any team...should their palms not greased...
you see these cry for these solanke, ejaria and co won't have been necessary had it been Nigeria went for these tourney
I believe Nigeria would have gone far and as such give rohr lot of players options to draft into the SE... without going after these English Nigeria players....

You are writing so much negatives on Amunike without any point to support it. How do you know his kind can ruin any team. The team would have gone far if the NFF treated them better.

I remember back in Port Harcourt the news that His Excellency Sir Dr. Peter Odili and Alameiseigha coming to the aid of Siasia when things got tough. Amunike had nothing like that. His team won the U17 without bonuses and allowances from their camping to winning the competition. The turmoil continued in the U20.

Those young men went through hell. You can not compare 2005 to that team in any way.

Amunike has been a great servant to this country and it is disheartening how people can throw him under the bus when he has not done wrong.

How did Amunike not work hard and let his work not speak for him? He won that U17 championship without salary, bonuses and continued coaching the team without reward for his success.

Today, I saw the highlight of our match against South Africa many times and I noticed somethings.

I don't think goalkeeper has to be blamed for the two goals. The goal scorers had enough time to think before they buried the ball into the net.

If any of our players missed both chances he will be tagged the new Yakubu. grin

Though, I do want a better goalkeeper.

The cause of the first goal was Echiejile. He should receive large chunk of the blame, followed by Aweriem and Ekong who were guilty of not man marking their opponent.

The second goal was largely the fault of Onazi who was responsible to cover for the defenders that went for the set piece. He was suppose to be the last man standing, meaning he should had noticed the player standing at the edge of the middle line(on their side) to beat the Offside trap and had placed himself behind the player.

I think next time the fastest player in the team should be placed in that position whenever our defenders go for set piece.

Both back wings are very weak. It is high time we give Ebuehi and Aina the chance on both sides.

Moses created a lot of chances and even had a shot at goal but Etebor and Ndidi did not take their chances.

Rohr should have removed Aweriem for Kayode and revert to 4-4-1-1 formation. Meaning Ndidi would take his position at the CB to supporting Ekong .

The defence wasn't organized.

We need experienced players.

Guardiola To Iheanacho – You Will Leave Man City On One Condition Not Buy-Back Clause

June 13, 2017 Nigeria

IMG_2892
‎Kelechi Iheanacho could remain at Manchester City beyond this summer despite interest in his services from top clubs like West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

20 year old Iheanacho has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad since Gabriel Jesus ‎became eligible to play for the team as he is now third choice forward with Sergio Kun Aguero ahead of him.

West Ham United agreed a fee with Manchester City for his transfer but disagreements over the fee and duration of a buy back option City wants in the deal held up the proposed move.

From then till now, City have hardened their stand on his possible exit following the frustrations they have suffered in their bid to strengthen their squad in the attack.

” Guardiola is no longer keen on letting him go unless a replacement is signed. As it stands now City only have Jesus and Aguero, considering the amount of games the team will play next season they need more than two strikers”, his intermediary told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” He could yet leave but the club must have his replacement signed before he leaves, he has been told in clear terms and he understands that is why he has said severally that he is staying at the club.
” Iheanacho wants to play but he has a five year deal with Manchester City, so they hold the ace. He is very young and still has a long way to go, even though he wants to move to where he is sure of getting games, City will have the final say”.

I understand the approach of Forgiveness sometimes you need a true striker to hold up play and push the CB's back and prevent them from linking up to the midfield.

I don't think Anichebe is a prolific goal scorer by any stretch of Imagination but he may cause more of a nuisance than Ideye I suggest.

I'm not sure we have another big tall Striker that can hold on to the ball like Anichebe.

Apart from Ideye and Anichebe, we also need to check that tall Nigerian striker that plays for migdtland in Denmark.

All I know is that we need a serious mix of experience and youth in SE. We need Enyeama back, Efe Ambrose and for the love of God we should never bench Omeruo for Awaziem to play. Awaziem should be prepared for next Olympic.

Midfield and attack we need the likes of Sone, Ideye, Anichebe/any other tall big striker.

This thread is a goldmine and sincerely wish NFF big wigs and Rohr are reading all the comments here.

Can nacho or kayode play as a winger?

What do you guys think about a false 9 formation, with iwobi as the false 9, we have seen that he plays better as a 10.

Etebo/nacho (lwf)....... iwobi (false 9) ......... musa/simon (rwf)

Gernot Rohr has accepted for the NFF technical committee to vet his call-ups to the Super Eagles henceforth as was the tradition with previous national team coaches.
SCORENigeria gathered this was one of the decisions taken when Rohr faced the committee in Abuja today.
“Some of the undeserving players lined up against South Africa at the weekend would not have scaled the committee had this arrangement being in place,” a top official told SCORENigeria
“Can you imagine a player from a ‘B’ team in Europe starting an official game for Nigeria in this day and age?”
It was further gathered that sports minister Solomon Dalung was shocked when he was told by officials that the technical committee have failed to sit ever since Rohr was appointed in July 2016 .
Dalung has now ordered that all those saddled with responsibilities be allowed to discharge their duties for efficiency
Rohr told the committee the fact that the team did not train with the official match balls affected the team on Saturday in Uyo.
He also said he was missing skipper Mikel Obi, defender Leon Balogun, goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and Victor Moses, but he hopes they will all return in time for the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.

Atleast one positive from the loss against SA. Its absolutely scandalous the technical committee have failed to sit for almost 1 year. I remember blowing my whistle on this issue not so long ago.
No country can develop their football without input from their FA technical dept. As a matter fact the technical committee is even more relevant than the FA president.
As simple as that.

My analysis is that Rohr was too basic in his prosecution of this match. The selection seemed like it was meant to look good on paper. No matter how many reports we get of a player being brilliant in training Rohr never gives the dark horse a chance. My advice to him is to make sure he is doing things the exact way he wants because only him will take the blame if we fail.

IMO not playing Alhassan Ibrahim was huge a mistake.

Whoever made the B team comment sounded like a clown. As a official and an adult he should know better. Yes we lost but let us not lose our minds and start bashing children in the media. We should just hope he learns from this and comes back stronger.

I'm sorry but I have to add Akpeyi for the second goal. There was one option only which was get a red card. Why did he bump Tau when he could have just wrapped his arms around him? Yes we get a red card but at least the score is still 1-0 and there is a chance.

A game you were already losing. If he collected the red we still would have lost.

If we were leading and needed to protect our 3points may be the red card could have been a worthy price.

Plus also Daniel Akpeyi is our most reliable goalie. Take that to the bank.
He is always available for action. If he received a red card, and knowing Ikeme's fitness level, you know we are in bigger trouble for our next game.

Akpeyi did his best to prevent that 2nd goal.

Yes I understand that view perfectly.

But Osaze is already far spent. The experienced players we missed in that SA game were Balogun, Mikel and V. Moses. When they are back in our next game I believe our attack and defense will be fine again. I don't even think we need Ighalo and Ideye.

Rohr just needs to sort out that MF.

I personally believe Ndidi(DM) and Etebo(CM) would be a better pairing.

I still have believe in this team.

ok so if these three guys aren't availabe yet again? We will endure this rubbish again?! For someone who appreciates experience you are too quick to dismiss these players. Osaze to be quite frank would have offered more than Moses Simon, #Fact. Martins would have offered more than Iheanacho #Fact, so these people still have something to offer. Quite frankly I'd want Martins, Osaze and Hope Akpan back

As simple as that.

if NFF start vetting callups for the coach, I guess that will be the beginning of the end for the coach, cos it will be full of confusion.
