What am saying is you cannot pretend to be custodians of African culture when you dont even have an official indegenous national language in your country. Not when your biggest fights are religiously charged between two adopted religions. Stop pretending to be what you've failed at.

Lol, we cannot have a unified official language, because there are many languages from separate empires and cultures in pre colonial times. The pidgin example is the perfect way of being modern in our own way. Pidgin is a mixture of Yoruba, Hausa, lgbo,slangs and the English language itself, and it's more commonly spoken than English.
So from the above you can see that having English as official language does not stop us from preserving our languages subtly even in thesame English. If you go to the south west, Yoruba is widely spoken, in the south east it is Igbo, in the north Hausa, but if you come to my city warri, it is pidgin and English. The reason is that both urhobo, itsekiri, and ljaw(three different tribes) can lay claim to Warri, hence its' difficult for the largest tribe in Warri(urhobo) to make it standard across the city.

We speak english alongside our own languages. Christianity is not a product of europeans, they obtainned it from the middle-easterners and same middle-easterners today have also adopted western education and civilization to an extent (exchange of influences n cultures).

Most Kenyans (Christians) have one Western name and two African ones. We don't go around telling other Africans to stop being Western though because we know we too have westernized to some degree.

That's cool, l don't know about Kenya, but we Nigerians are just too stubborn, hence it would be difficult for a Government to introduce a common language like they easily did in Kenya, not impossible but difficult and would require a wise and trusted leader.
Take the North and parts of the middle belt, they are so diverse but Hausa is now commonly spoken, but it would be difficult for Hausa to penetrate other areas same way, even if they migrate here in numbers. So the leader may achieve this in the North and middle belt for example but may find it difficult in the south east and vice versa.

Even untill recently, Swahili was still more widely spoken than English. You are trying to make it sound like Kenya is a homogenous society. We have all major groups in kenya and were it not for authorities promoting Swahili, we would not be as simple as you make it sound. In Kenya, with two English names you would find it hard to ascend to presidency. Goodluck would never have been president in Kenya unless he promoted his other african names and discarded the european ones. Corazon is just one name, she has other two African.

Brother, I don't think Ethiopians will agree to use Swahili as the official or de facto language, when eastern Africans become one country. Amharegn/Amharic is too special to us. Even if Ethiopia is home to 80 diverse and unique ethnic groups, Ethiopia indirectly mostly is Amhara culture.
