I really wish to convert a Lagos Molue like this but not in Lagos but Delta. The transport costs to Delta didn't make sense as at last try.

mufutau55: Sorry, its not about liking or not liking your response please. That is completely irrelevant. I just want the "principal person" involved, to be the one giving the assurances, not a 3rd party. Giving assurances of that sort, on behalf of somebody, is completely ineffective, when the chips are down But not to worry any further, l am very satisfied @Alcopacetic has done the needful. 1 Like |

44chux:Thanks for the clarification. Many people don't even know some of this government agencies exist neither known their function, due to failure in the system for over decades. Couple of days back I red when people start debating about fencing height, many States have their rules when it's come to your fence height. For example in Abuja, there are many zoned areas where your fence can not be above 1 - 1 1/2 meters hight, otherwise you will never get approval for the building. If you choose to take law to your hand, in no time the agency in charge will pull that fence down and send you the bill for their service. Many time I don't blame people that go out of normal channels to get things done, most time some of those agencies staff are worst the Even the kidnapper. There was one inspector that came to one my site that I will never forget. This dud asking the workers quality of sand the block was made off and which rivers was the sand dredge from. Can you imagine that. |

EgunMogaji: Spot on man, Spot on. In a country like Nigeria, unemployment can be a state of the mind. Waiting for government for everything is not beneficial. A kid 'invents' practically a toy car and then wait for government to help. What's that. Graduates instead of looking for work for donkey years, convert an abandoned Danfo to sell ice cream, kunu, kilishi, suya etc. Convert Keke Napep to selling Ewa agoyin and bread, dundun and Koko, beans and dodo. Package it well with a clean environment and disposition. Then say farewell to unemployment. 3 Likes |

diordaves: hmmmmm, not to discourage you, but pls get a good engineer to do the calculations, n not just give a local welder to weld some stuff, b4 that vehicle was put on the road in the uk..serious calculations hv been done, center of gravity, stability concerns etc 2ndly most nigerian roads hv low hanging cables,/flyover/pedesterian crossing etc that wud surely entangle a vehicle of this hieght, unless you wud hv a fixed route wch you hv presurveyed, and the driver warned thoroughly not to deviate from a presurveyed route..... i think the cons outweigh the pros in this case, nigeria isnt ready for this vehicle yet as a means of public transport you may wish to create a thread in the auto section, siena wud hv been of great help |

diordaves: Even though I know the capital may not be readily available, but I see a lot of heavy machinery like bulldozers, tracors, etc that are broken by the wayside. I feel they can be learnt and reparied and turned into money making ventures. There's no reason why they can't make borehole drilling rigs that are cheap. Practically all houses needs a borehole in Nigeria. This rip off N5,500 per meter or whatever drilling fees will be sidelined when competition is stiff due to readily available locally manufactured drilling rigs. 1 Like |

earthrealm: I'm not sure but I think you missed the point. It's not converting into a double decker for Nigerian roads. It pimping up an abandoned decommissioned Molue into a trendy bar, or ice cream Parlour. You don't need high powered engineer for that. You will need spraying and panel beating skills though. Just situate the pimped Molue in a choice location with good footfall. 1 Like |

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by 44chux(m): 12:15pm On Jun 24, 2017 |
spyder880: Your question is kind of confusing. For starters am no expert and what I know is generally gathered from years of observation of the workings of some state Authorities. I assume that since the state laws are generally derived from the federal decree, then disparities should be minimal Normally they just end up serving you a notice of violation and expect you to come settle. However they have the power to recommend your house for demolition. In PH they mobilised to demolish one building because of setback violation after the Neighbour claimed that rain water from that compound's roof fell directly into his plot. The landlord had to couch out close to a million. In Abuja and Warri I have witnessed houses demolished for reasons like blocking of flood ways / drainage masterplan. You know that leaving a police case file open when the case is cold is generally asking for future wahala from some smart asS corrupt officer. So its cheaper to go by the book. |

EgunMogaji: I don't think it will have a positive impact on the environment if every houses drill a borehole due to the such effect on the stability of our earth crust. What we need is community development program aim at having a central borehole system or a mini water treatment facility for a small community where every member of the community can easily tap into the central system using a simple pipe network system. This will reduce the negative impact on the society, make repair, operation elf the facility easier and cheaper 1 Like |

abdulwastecx: Of course it won't be good for the environment and we've discussed this before BUT until the government wakes up to its responsibilities then it's the lesser of two evils. #Borehole #Soakaway #Generators #Property Setback #Build Ratio #100% Cement Build #Worker Safety Most of our construction sites would be shut down immediately if in a developed world that favors ecology. Hope you're good Sir. 1 Like |

lol That looks like the South Bank near london eye if i am correct, I recall taking a walk down that side last year and bought from this particular vendor. I like the concept, but such things are challenging in Nigeria. There is a place in VI that do nice ice cream in Lagos, last time I went there, they were running on Gen, how is such a biz sustainable ? diordaves: |

abdulwastecx: Good point sir, This is what most people and government don't understand. Especially in lagos. How many people in lagos have access to fresh water from all the boreholes they are sinking. Most household have their fresh water turn salty over few months or years of use. This is just a physical example of the adverse effect of having borehole sunk in each household. Its something happening to 90% of lagosians and everybody can see it. We all know the danger involved. Now, what about the effects we couldn't see or feel....do anybody know how devastating it could be! 1 Like 1 Share |

A central borehole will have the same effect on the environment as individual borehole since water is taken from the same water table underground except if it is pumped from a river or reservoir. Central borehole will experience same contaminants and therefore not a solution. A better solution is using an advance water purifier which will not only remove the salt but also bacteria, fungi and virus. That can be done economically on individual basis. Larwin: 2 Likes |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Larwin(m): 8:21am On Jun 26, 2017 |
mank1234: A central borehole is still the solution, with that...the authority can control the extraction rate in other to checkmate the hydrodynamic balancing responsible for any form of contamination and also allow us have a minimal stable crust. Do you know how much it will cost to carry out a complete treatment? I believe this should be done on a community base. 1 Like |
