THE STUDENTS, NEW WORLD AND NEWEST WORLD.
At the beginning of every ladder of success, there is always a crowd. The journey from being a student to a graduate and to be equipped well for the future is a herculean task, in which many have been lost during the route.
Every student that is admitted into tertiary institution is always happy for being in the league of different makers by their intellectual acuity. Their joy knows no bound, they will remember the six (6) years spend in the secondary school, writing WAEC and NECO, in which most of their contemporaries have been subjugated by failure, sitting for almighty UTME exam and their respective institutions’ Exam, which is called POST UTME. Impressively, their achievement is tremendous and worthy of emulation by their younger ones. They are admitted into this tertiary institution which is also called “NEW WORLD”.
The new world is a place where you can learn, socialize, have fun and broaden your knowledge. In the new world, you have 3 to 5 years to spend and after the years, the students will be sent to the Newest or Real word. Definitely every student in the new world has little years to plan and fortify themselves for the next world they are going. Drastically, student’s stay at the new world will elapse shortly. When it is time for them to leave for the next world, all of them will be happy and laughing, having known their capability in striving for success in future. Many will know that their days in the new world are wasted days and years, while few will have total joy that they will practice what they have known...

A POEM: WHO KNOWS ME?

My meaning started since you were born
You are truly born into me
And you also live in me
But do you think you can succeed?
Except I am fulfilled in you
So I wonder why you don’t understand me
Since you can’t do without me
You have my keys
I mean you, who know me.

You said I’m a bicycle
You said I’m like wind
You considered me as great
You considered me as nothing
And you said I have no definition.
So I understand fully
That the definition given to me
Is in accordance to your existence in me
The meaning given to me
Is according to what I made you to be
You have my keys
I mean you, who know me

As fast as you are
Your fastness is nothing without me
As slow as you are
Your stupidity is nothing in me
Then who are those succeeding?
They are those that understand me
And they really know my meaning
For I can make you master,
I can make you servant, I
I can also make you leader or member
My keys are in your hand
I mean you, who know me

Look at all I have done
Even from the day you were born
You have questioned me why
Or you have accepted your plight in me
I give you additional age
For you to grow and be of age
So you can consider your height and weight
Consider your status and one of my meaning
That I am the presidential factor
Who cause frequent changes at all time
Consider how they look at you presently
Relating you to the past days
And they give me the praise
And I return to the most supreme.

Will you tell me you know me?
Or you have my understanding?
Did you want a change in me?
Or you want a best of me?
Then why are you relenting?
Why did you desire to quit?
Or don’t you know I never quit?
Why are you so fast?
Or don’t you know I have processes?
Why are you so slow?
Don’t you know I am fast in action?
You can only have my keys
When you are ready to know me
I AM LIFE.

10 COMMON MISTAKES OF ENGLISH WORDS AMONG STUDENTS
1. A LITTLE BIT OF:
This phrase is erroneous. Little means small amount of something and Bit also means small amount of something. So, the correct usage is A bit of something. Likewise, A little means many or large amount of something while, little without the article A means small amount of something.
2. AM: This word makes me laugh whenever I see students using it. Am is a verb and not a noun. Unfortunately, many students are oblivious that Am is not a noun. They always write like this “am going to Lagos” The statement is erroneous, it should be written like this “I AM GOING TO LAGOS OR I’M GOING TO LAGOS” The second usage is correct by applying contraction with I.
NOTE: contraction is the short form of a word by the use of apostrophe. Also, you must note that contraction is not abbreviation. E.G: Have ---‘ve, Was ---‘s, Is ----‘s, would ---‘d etc.
3. SO THEREFORE: This is a tautology. Don’t ever use the two words side by side because they mean the same thing.
4. DOUBLE DATE: Many people use this word out of context. The meaning of double date is when two friends take their girl or boy friends out to have a fun. If you are dating two boy or girl friends, you are to use DOUBLE DEAL. E.g I cannot DOUBLE DEAL not I cannot double date.
5. TALKATIVE: You are a talkative is incorrect, the correct form is YOU ARE TALKATIVE. Many people use the word talkative as a noun but it is purely an adjective.
6. FOOL: Many people use this word as an adjective but it is a noun. They always say you are fool but the correct usage is YOU ARE A FOOL or THEY ARE FOOLS. Rule: you can neglect the article if it is a plural noun.
7. BORROW/ LEND: Some students don’t know how to use these words. Borrow means to receive something while lend means to give out something. If you are the receiver, you can say BORROW ME YOUR BOOK not lend me your book. Also, if you are the giver, you will say I WILL NOT LEND YOU not I will not borrow you.
8. ANTIDOTE/SOLUTION: There is a book titled “Antidote of corruption”. The word Antidote means a remedy to counteract the effects of poison. It also means solution or panacea. Whenever you want to use the word ANTIDOTE, the prepositions that must follow are: FOR, TO, AGAINST. So, the title of the aforementioned book is a blunder.
9. FORGOT/LEFT: When you don’t remember what you want to take and the thing is tangible, use the word “left” as in “I LEFT THE BOOK AT HOME” not “I forgot to take the book”. It is impossible according to the usage of English to say that you forget to take something but you can forget what you cannot see or abstract. As in: “I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT I LOVE YOU”, “I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT HE CAME YESTERDAY”.
10. FOR THE REASON BEST KNOWN TO HIM: This statement is often used by students to mean that a person has done something intentionally and confidentially. However, the sentence is erroneous according to the rule of grammar. Whenever you are talking about “The Reason Best Known To” You must use a reflexive pronoun which are: himself, herself, themselves, yourself, ourselves, myself. Therefore, the correct sentence is “FOR THE REASON BEST KNOWN TO HIMSELF”

A POEM: SUCCESS IS MY PRIORITY

I know that failure is alive
But I am very optimistic
My spirits are pragmatic
To triumph with versatility
And success! Is my priority

I will make wave in life
Regardless of my intractable plight
I am battle ready to tackle any fight
And bear the risk with alacrity
Success! Is my priority

I will come out robust and alive
Like an inviting stars in the night
And dabble in world of mirth
“Breakthrough” is my testimony
And success! Indeed is my priority.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILL AND SELF DEVELOPMENT ARE BETTER FOR A STUDENT THAN BEING A GENIUS

I wonder, if the likes of prof. Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, Mark Zukersberg, Bill Gate, Aliko Dangote, Donald Trump, Wale Adenuga, Niyi Osundare, Muhammed Buhari, Seun Osewa, Ayo Balogun also known as (Wizkid) and other personalities had crammed textbooks like the crammers in all our respective institutions, I doubt if they will succeed as they are. Most of this people graduated with a low grade point (GP) and some were even rusticated and some left willingly in order to pursue their goals.
Though, it is a joy of every student to have a good grade in his or her academic, but the situation of the country has called for entrepreneurship skills and self-development. Obviously, you can be a genius in every profession, but the use of the word “GENIUS” among the students means a person that can “cram his way out of examination” which we always call “La cram La pour”. Invariably, this our ciphering geniuses always receive awards and commendations for their cramming prowess.
However, being a crammer cannot survive you in the present condition of our country. We are luxuriantly dabbling in an economic recession and companies are sacking and retrenching their employers. There is no job for our graduates, yet people are still cramming in order to succeed, while their cramming predecessors are yet to secure just a meagerly paid job that can secure a good livelihood for them. Is this not a misplaced priority?...

DO YOU AGREE?----EDUCATION IS A SCAM

It is widely said “Education is the best legacy” “Education can make you rich”. In fact a former president of Havard University Derek Bok says: “if you think education is expensive, try ignorance”. Never changing, this suitable sentences are often used to how pertinent is what we called education, but, quite undesirably, many people who dabble in education end up gaining little or nothing in it.
Parents and care givers spend a lot of money on their children in order to acquire formal education, many years are spent by the students in their tertiary institution with suffering and other undesirable occurrences, yet all they see after graduation is unemployment.
Analogically, people that go for vocational training are making wave than those that vie for formal education. The number of graduates that are roaming around the street without employment are more than the number of people that go for vocational or entrepreneurship trainings roaming on the streets.
The amount spent to attain formal education can be used to set up a business that will eventually, scintillatingly and flamboyantly thrive. Calculi the total amount you used to secure accommodation in the tertiary institution, the amount of tuition fees, miscellaneous fees, the amount for buying hand out and do your assignments amidst others. Convincingly, if well utilized, the amount used to acquire formal education can be used to establish any vocational skill...

I'm not being a critic friend, though, I'd rather be for criticism is like
The plastering knife with which the writer smoothes and shapes himself.

Success is my priority: Value should be prioritized for value attracts success.
Adding value is getting success, and you cant scale value to success.
Perhaps, I'm not understanding.

There's a difference between School and education.
School is the scam for it is a box in which the scholars are tightly placed
But education my friend is largely a function of information.
Education never went to School, he is a stark illiterate
