Little Known Nigerian Midfielder Leventise Azubuike Pens Three Year Contract With Turkish Side

Umraniyespor have officially announced the signing of 20 year old Nigerian midfielder Leventise Owuzie Azubuike on a three year deal.

His signing took place in the office of the club president after a short ceremony which had in attendance the president of the club Recep Yogurtcu and coach Ergun Keles alongside the agent of the player.

Azubuike joined the team without a single minute of professional football in any level of league football in Nigeria, as he was snapped up from local academy Bethel FC.

Umraniyespor are battling to gain promotion to the top flight league in Turkey, which will be historical as they are yet to play in the Turkish Super Lig since their formation in 1938.

Back to back promotion saw them move from the TFF Third League to the TFF First League from 2014 -2016, with their aim solely focused on reaching the top league next season.

Zulte Waregem Newbie Peter Olayinka On Target Again , Nets Brace, Bala Dazzles, Madu Shines

Peter Olayinka is showing no sign of slowing down on the form that earned him a return to Belgium after loan spell with Dukla Praha of Czech Republic.

Olayinka returned to his parent club Gent, but the forward whose time at the club after his big money move from Albanian side Skenderbreu was cut short by injury was once again farmed out on loan.

He joined Zulte Waregem, where he scored on his unofficial debut for the team in a pre season friendly two days ago , a run he continued yesterday with a brace in their tie against Sparta Petegem.

The Nigerian scored the 4th and 5th goal for his team in the rout over the third division Belgium side with his fellow Nigerians Kingsley Madu and Aliko Bala also impressive in the tie.

Madu lasted the entire duration of the game, the second consecutive game he has been on from start to finish, while Bala helped his cause for a spot in the team with an assist for the third goal.

Eagles & Akwa United Star Muazam Reveals Why He Prefers Ronaldo To Kanu

Nigeria midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim has revealed that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is his role model.

The 20-year-old’s playing style has been compared to Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu, but he feels he’s faster than the former Arsenal attacker.

“I know people are saying I play like Kanu, even when I was with the Golden Eaglets.

“Am young, I didn’t get to watch a lot of Kanu’s games at the top level, but I went to YouTube to watch some of his clips, how he played and why people are comparing me and him.

“I admire Kanu, he’s a very intelligent player but we are different. He’s slow but am fast, but Kanu is more intelligent and I try to learn from what he did.

“In the modern game, my role model is Cristiano Ronaldo. I just like how he works hard, his hunger to achieve.

“I admire him a lot and I always try to emulate some of his moves.”

Alhassan, who made his Super Eagles debut against Togo in June has scored 11 goals for Akwa United in the NPFL this season.

Super Eagles Star Peter Utaka Back Among The Goals For FC Tokyo

Out-of-favour Nigeria international Peter Utaka returned to scoring ways but could not prevent his side FC Tokyo from losing 3-1 to Cerezo Osaka on game week seventeen in the J League on Sunday, July 2.

The 33-year-old netted his first goal in the Japanese top flight since April 1 when he opened the scoring at the KINCHO Stadium (Ōsaka) after 21 minutes.

Before the deadlock was broken, Utaka came closest with a long range volley, and few minutes later he tapped in from close range after Nagai had robbed the last line of defense.

His other goals this season were against Kawasaki Front, Sagan Tosu, Vegalta Sendai and Omiya Ardija.

FC Tokyo is Peter Utaka's sixth club in Asia following spells with Dalian Aerbin, Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Shenxin, Shimizu S-Pulse and Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Why will I not bring Favre you tried to exalt above Klopp but you are here ridiculing Rohr who did more with his Bordeaux team than Favre. It is just sentimental criticism. You want Rohr who is a German to change his philosophy to fit your long ball tall striker strategy forgetting that there is a revolution in Germany with more coaches adapting modern possessive methods.
well, having a point man/big man in your team doesn't mean you'll have to play long balls, Giroud has been pretty decent for arsenal and France and none of these teams play long balls

William Troost-Ekong Close In On Move To Bursaspor After Agreeing Personal Terms – Reports

According to reports reaching the editorial desk of Owngoalnigeria.com Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has agreed personal terms with Turkish side Bursaspor.

Sportiv reports that the 23 year old is one of the prime target of new coach of Bursaspor Paul Le Guen, and with 12 months left to run on his deal with Gent of Belgium there’s every possibility of the move happening.

Although the Turkish side are yet to reach an agreement with Gent over his transfer, they have met with his representatives who have now open talks with Gent over his move.

Gent on their part have been on a signing spree with reports having it that a defender has been signed already to make up for the possible departure of Troost-Ekong, who played the last six months of last season at the club after an 18 months loan spell with FK Haugesund of Norway.

Last night he fuelled rumours of his impending departure from Gent when he posted pictures of himself watching a game of his former loan side Haugesund, while the rest of his teammates are sweating it out in Gent’s pre season camp.

This is the one reason I am gradually losing interest in coming here. When certain people cannot help displaying "their obvious bias".

This is why it is easy to play the "hate card" with TheSupernerd.... all because he is pointing out that certain analyses on a few players here is based on subtle or obvious(in some cases) dislike and not sound sincere analysis.

When guys like Sir Goldfish80 keeps coming up with outrageously shape-shifting and Posts-shifting comments on Iheanacho.

I mean.... This is what I have been fighting against on this thread......Full blown Bias some people display in the name of "Almighty Opinion"

First it was Mikel... now it is Iheanacho. Smh.

I am not saying don't call out poor performances or fumblings by our team... but do so sincerely and not to rubbish a player's obvious potentials and abilities. Downplaying his strengths and making a player look like he is sh*t.

Okay now... Someone says he prefers an Etebo to start upfront in place of the much more lethal Nacho. Like seriously?? What happens to the big striker talk naa? And someone keeps denying that the midfield was the problem... everything falls on Nacho. Everything... every damn thing. Amazing analysts really.... lol

Anyway... in other news...

Martins banged in a brace for his Chinese club recently... and I was just smiling for two reasons...

1.) He brought back keen memories of the years when he was known not just as Obagoal but as "The weapon of mass destruction" (WMD). Now those years are gone. We have a new weapon and more weapons rising strong. Martins remains one of the Finest strikers we produced but right now He is not the savior we need. The issue is not in attack but in midfield. Nacho and Kayode in attack (CF) is enough for now. More will rise.... #GospelTruth.

2.) I could bet a hundred dollars that Forgiveness will post the news himself grin

I was not disappointed at all.... Looking at the last few pages.... He did in emphatic fashion. lol

"Selective Journalism" has become the order of the day on this thread by a few ba? Posting good news of your favorites but ignoring good news of players you don't fancy right? He did this when England led by Solanke conquered the world at the U-20 World cup... selectively picking up news irrelevant to the Super Eagles just to attempt belittling our young stars.

I have been waiting for him to replicate same with Nacho recently.... News from few days back shows Nacho Still has the best goals per mins ratio in EPL history. Wonder why he skipped that... lol

This is really becoming childish. When I post news here... I do it for all players and with the Super Eagles in mind.... I don't do it to glorify just one or two players...

It is about the team... *The team* NOT individuals.

This is sad. I only have to come back occasionally because of wonderful personalities here like TheGoodJoe, BascoVanVeli, Chief Icon4s and a couple more... some of whom I have had a few major disagreements with in the past. We cannot all be on the same sides in certain discussions but at least... let things be done with sincerity (even on opposite sides of debates) and not childish bias. It is sickening. Very irritating.

I am focused on a golden generation emerging strong and Some folks wanna take us backwards because they got so-called favorites. They want us to settle for less than the best we have! How lame and wicked!!!

We are talking of our best Super Eagles XI and Best Reserves XI and some people say Iheanacho is not good enough?? But Anichebe is good enough... Ehmmmm Martins will do a better job... even Ighalo will excel... imagine the lame talks...

Anyway.... let the Cameroon game come. I know some folks here really pray we lose both games if Iheanacho starts as the CF so that that will be the final stand they take to completely annihilate Iheanacho's name from national team history. This campaign against one super talented young man is baffling...

But I assure you all.... In time, You shall eat your words just like how some ate theirs when It came to Mikel's relevance in the Super Eagles team. This is becoming much more than just stating an opinion.... Some people just want Iheanacho out of the team. #Fact.

And then you accuse me of saying you hate a player.... when it is so bloody obvious?? Abeg.... we can run around in circles on this but I am no fool... I may be young but I have been in this game of analyses in my studies, writings and more... and I know my psychology pretty well... I have also been following the "Beautiful game" since the age of seven.

Words carry meanings... through consistent/repeated utterances in writing from various angles, I can easily deduct when you just don't like someone... I can trace the origins of a single comment made by people active on this thread..... it cannot be hidden. Deny it all you want... but the truth stares you in the face.

I won't reply whosoever quotes this post to spill trash... I don't have such time again to grace such replies. I have a dream for the Rise of Nigeria's Next Super Golden Generation... and not silly arguments out to belittle the obvious super potentials and abilities in our young players.

I don't expect many to agree with me. But This thread is about the Super Eagles and The Dawn of a new era.... that era will come... and it is bigger than just one player.

Relax bro.

No let anyone spoil your fun.

Humans would always be what they are: "Humans". No one is perfect. Simple strategy: any one u don't want to debate with , ignore.

Kelechi Iheanacho has new competition in the Super Eagles. In the coming months, I expect the new guy to challenge for the no.9 spot.
His introduction into the team may be gradual but he looks capable of bringing in very good competition.

His name is Cyriel Dessers.

Rohr seems to have gotten the lad. News coming shortly.

This is good news.

More Competition, More Fire.

How Rohr convinced me to dump Belgium for Super Eagles – Dessers
By Ifreke Inyang

Cyril Dessers has revealed details of his conversation with Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, which convinced him to opt for Nigeria instead of Beligum.

Dessers says Rohr told him in clear teams to pledge his allegiance to Nigeria, if he wants to challenged the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa and Olanrewaju Kayode, for a spot in the national team.

The 22-year-old accepted the German tactician’s challenged and has already voiced his preference for the Eagles.

“Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa are the two undisputed men in my position, not forgetting Olarewaju Kayode who plays for Austria Wien. After them there’s a spot. I did had contact with the coach some few weeks back and he advise me to take a step higher. Hence my move to Utrecht to prove myself worthy of selection for Nigeria,” he told Sports/Football Magazine.

“I will be happy to play for either Nigeria or Belgium, but playing for Belgium is a little bit complicated, as all the strikers in front of me above 30 years and might all leave in the next three years, I would have been patient for an opportunity, but that is not the case.

“The World Cup 2018 is around the corner. If I score 20 goals for Utrecht and one of the strikers missed out through injury, I might have a chance. I hope my dream of wearing the Nigeria shirt draws near in few months time.”

“The coach will also meet with other players in Europe before returning home. The essence of these meetings is to get their assurances for the game, also to secure their early release from their club managers. This is because of the importance we attach to the match.

“For us, we believe that there is no course for alarm, one thing that is sure in that match is that we will beat Cameroon and we are on top of it. As CAF and FIFA organising member, I have decided to abandon my role in international football for now because we are strategizing to win that game. I could not be in South Korea for a FIFA committee meeting; I could not be in Russia for the just concluded FIFA Confederations cup. All these I turned down even though I was highly needed in them because of the Cameroon match and I am sure it will not be in vain,” Pinnick noted

Chelsea's Nigerian Right Wing-Back Linked With Move To Hull City

Former England U19 skipper Ola Aina is being linked with a transfer to EFL Championship side Hull City,
allnigeriasoccer.com understands.

It is believed that the Tigers have made an enquiry about the possibility of signing the Chelsea wonderkid on a season-long loan move.

New Hull City manager Leonid Slutskiy has an excellent relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, and spent the first five months of this year at the Blues Academy.

This is a World Cup season and Aina is aware that he needs to be playing on a regular basis in order to be named on the World Cup roster, having pledged his international future to Nigeria.

Last season, Aina's options were limited due to the emergence of Victor Moses as a full back, and he could only make six
appearances in all competitions for the first team.

Done Deal – Nigeria Rio 2016 Ace Usman Muhammed Completes Move To Barcelona

Usman Muhammed move to Barcelona is officially on following the expiration of his contract with Uniao Madeira of Portugal on the 30th of June.

The midfielder is already in Spain waiting to be unveiled by the La Liga giants after impressing the handlers of the B team during a short trial last season.

Usman represented Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympics where Nigeria won bronze, thanks to his midfield combo with captain John Obi Mikel in almost all of Nigeria’s game at the Olympics.
He will start off with the B team who are now going to campaign in the second division after securing promotion via the play offs at the end of last season.

His coming will make it the second time in six months a Nigerian player is joining the Catalans although Ezekiel Bassey who joined on loan from Enyimba has been told he won’t be offered fresh terms.

As exclusively reported by this portal the striker has even started moves to leave the club as he is expected to arrive Turkey in the coming days to hold talks with Osmanlispor.

Breaking-Exclusive: Super Eagles World Cup Star Jets To Norway To Complete FK Haugesund Move

Nigeria international Michael Uchebo has snubbed mega offers from Asian and Middle East clubs for a return to Europe.
Uchebo is understood to have received huge concrete offers from Saudi Arabia, UAE and Indonesia.

Madura United signed Super Eagles star Peter Odemwingie after trying unsuccessfully for months to land Uchebo.

Uchebo left Boavista unceremoniously following the intervention of Fifa and Fipro after the Portuguese club failed to honour his 20,000 euros net a month salary and did not pay him for several months.

The striker has played nearly 200 matches in Holland, Belgium and Portugal and has 7 international caps for Nigeria.

It is understood that Uchebo prefers to continue his career in Europe instead of Middle East and Asia because he believes he still has a lot to offer in the Europe.

He featured in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, playing against France and Argentina.

The giant attacker is renowned for his aerial presence, great dribbling ability and hold up play.

He is not your typical goal scoring type of striker but his physical presence, unique style of play and creativity makes him a very dangerous player.

It is understood that FK Haugesund have been trying for quite some time to secure the striker's services and a deal seemed impossible.

It appears, however, that the Haugesund brass might have finally succeeded to land the player as the player is learnt to have bid farewell to his family and boarded a flight to Norway.

Belgian-Nigerian Eagles Wannabe Dessers On Target For Dutch Side Against Rubin Kazan

Super Eagles Belgian-Nigerian hopeful Cyril Dessers opened his goal account for his new side FC Utrecht in their 1-1 draw against Russian side Rubin Kazan in a pre season friendly.

Dessers struck in the 10th minute of play before Rubin Kazan’s Brazilian forward Jonathan levelled matters for his team with a strike in the 44th minutes of the pre season tie.

The goal was his first goal for the team he joined few months ago after powering NAC Breda to the top flight league in Holland with 22 goals in the regular season, and seven more during the play offs.

22 year old Dessers has already voiced his intention to play for Nigeria ahead of Belgium as he fancies his chances of making the grades with the Super Eagles than the senior national team of Belgium.

Yet to be capped at any level by either Belgium or Nigeria, the closest he came towards a first cap was when he made the bench for the U-20 of Belgium in a tie few years ago but didn’t get to play.

NFF Yet To Accept New Date For Eagles Against Cameroon Clash In Uyo

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are yet to accept the shift in date done by FIFA for their World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Cameroon in Uyo.

FIFA shifted the date for the clash at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo from the earlier date of September 1st to the 30th of August due to issues bordering on Television broadcast.

Nigeria have however not replied FIFA over the new date communicated to them last week as they hope to persuade FIFA to see reasons why the game should not be moved backward.

Informed sources at the NFF told this portal that a fresh request for the tie to hold on the 1st of September will be submitted later this week to FIFA for consideration.

Part of the reason why the NFF want the game to be played on the 1st of September is to have a full house at the Stadium, which is not guaranteed if the tie is played on a Friday, which happens to be the 30th of August date announced by FIFA.

Gernot Rohr to meet Pep Gourdiola over Iheanacho’s future

The future of Manchester City and Super Eagles forward, Keleci Iheanacho, will dominate discussions between Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, and City manager, Pep Gourdiola, this week.

Coach Rohr, who is currently on tour of Europe, where he will meet with the Super Eagles players and their managers ahead of World Cup qualifying game against Cameroon in Uyo will also seek the opportunity of the meeting to ask for early release of the player for the cracker, as Iheanacho would be one of his most wanted players for the game.

Iheanacho has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium Rohr will like to know the prospect of playing time for the 20 year old if he remains at City at the end of the current transfer window, or if a move to one of the teams pushing for his signature will be beneficial for his career.

Already Leicester City are reported to be the favourite to land the forward but West Ham are yet to give up on their chances, and report has it that they have agreed City’s option of a buy back clause in the deal for Iheanacho.

Arsenal Coach Begins Running The Rule Over Nigeria Target Akpom, Iwobi Excused

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will begin monitoring England U21 international Chuba Akpom at close quarters this week.
The Hale End Academy product and other first-teamers not involved in international duty in the off season are due to report back for pre-season training on Monday July 3.

This pre-season is Akpom's last chance to impress the French coach considering speculations linking him with a permanent departure from the Emirates Stadium outfit in the summer transfer window.

Last year, his performance in pre-season ticked the right boxes, with the striker netting against MLS All-Stars, Guadalajara, Viking and Manchester City.

Alex Iwobi will also come under close scrutiny in the next one month after losing his spot in the Gunners starting eleven towards the end of last season due to a drop in form.

The Nigeria international is expected to return to London Colney before Arsenal's tour of Australia, where they will face A-League sides Sydney Fc and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Flying Eagles skipper Kelechi Nwakali will fly to London this week, Wednesday or Thursday, for talks over his future at Arsenal.
