Noah Bazee Makes Hannover 96 Starting XI For The First Time In Four Months

Super Eagles target Noah Bazee has put his injury worries behind him ahead of the start of the Bundesliga next month and two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

For the first time in four months, the Hannover talent was named in his team's starting eleven for the pre-season fixture against HSC Hannover on Sunday.

A chronic knee injury limited Noah Bazee's appearances for the newly promoted Bundesliga side last season, with the 20-year-old making only eight starts in the league.

Though Bazee did not register his name on the score-sheet against HSC Hannover, he came close to scoring in the seventh minute, and was lively before he was replaced at the start of the second half with Hannover leading by five goals.

The offensive all-rounder has been named in Hannover 96's 26-man roster for a training camp in St. Peter-Ording.

Adepoju : Spanish Football Will Suit Iheanacho
By Izuchukwu Okosi

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, believes the Spanish style of football will be perfect for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho who is a transfer target of several clubs, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The onetime Racing Santander and Real Sociedad star spoke with Completesportsnigeria.com on his thoughts on the Iheanacho transfer situation with City manager Pep Guardiola seemingly keen to see the Super Eagles star sold to another club this summer after relegating him to third choice on the pecking order.

"The Spanish league, La Liga, will not be a bad idea for Kelechi. The style suits him," Adepoju told Completesportsnigeria.com on Monday.

"Clubs like Valencia and Sevilla play the kind of football that he can fit in. They play in European competitions, especially Sevilla almost every other season, so that's a good one for him.

"So my opinion is that it will be nice if he considers the Spanish clubs.

"We have not had many Nigerian players in the La Liga, just a few although. The wages may not quite be the same as they receive in England," the former Nigeria international affectionately known as the Headmaster concluded.

For me, I strongly believe playing to our main strengths mixed with Enough Grit and Steel is the way to go. We have the better technically gifted players but Cameroun got more of the physical strength and Power. In the light of Strength and Power alone let's look at CompleteSportsNigeria's "suggestion".....

But I have made it clear... a mixture of our technical abilities (our finest cerebral players-Iwobi, Nacho, Mikel, Moses V., etc) and Power/steel (as seen in the likes of Balogun, Moses V, Mikel, Etebo, Ndidi, Onazi, Ogu, Agu, etc) is the way to go against The Indomitable Lions.

Going 100% power for power and pound for pound will be playing into their hands... coz power and Strength & "gra gra" football is the strong arena/domain of the Camerounians.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 Fringe Super Eagles Stars Who Can Match Physical Cameroon 'Fire For Fire'

African champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Nigeria's Super Eagles will face-off in the continuation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series in August. A section of Nigerian fans fear the present Super Eagles lack the brawn to complement their undoubted skills as coach Gernot Rhor works hard to jone a great side.

Completesportsnigeria.com's IZUCHUKWU OKOSI highlights five Super Eagles stars who are now on the fringes of the national team but are best suited for the physical demands that the two legged encounters with Cameroon.

1. Godfrey Oboabona (Rizespor, Turkey)

Forgotten Super Eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona was a mainstay in the Nigerian side that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa forming a formidable partnership with Kenneth Omeruo. He has 44 international caps for Nigeria with one goal to his credit.

Oboabona was a favourite of late coach Stephen Keshi, but has not been lucky with subsequent coaches; Sunday Oliseh, Samson Siasia and now, Gernot Rhor.

The Rizespor of Turkey defender is bullish in style and when in good form is the kind of defensive presence that could unsettle the built-like-tank Cameroon strikers led by Vincent Aboubakar.
Last season, Oboabona played 26 Super Lig matches in the Turkish top flight and was yellow-carded four times. He was sent off once.

Oboabona played a total of 2,291 of club football last season and is good at blocking shots. He has an excellent reading of the game, holds the ball well and creates attack from the backline. He however needs to improve his aerial duels.

2. Azubuike Okechukwu ( Yeni Malatyaspor, Turkey)

Azubuike Okechukwu is the kind of player that can match the Cameroonians' physicality in midfield battles.

Big, strong and powerful, the Most Valueable Player at the 2015 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations has played for numerous clubs in the Nigerian league like (defunct) Bayelsa United and Niger Tornadoes. The player's mental and physical toughness have certainly been developed before he ventured abroad.

The Yeni Malatyaspor of Turkey midfielder who has five caps for the Super Eagles and was part of the U-23 Eagles side at the 2016 Olympics team in Rio, Brazil where the team won bronze is a battler who takes no prisoners and his defensive astuteness are exactly what the Eagles need.

The Cameroonians cannot bully the Eagles midfelders to submission when there are players like Okechukwu to provide solidity behind the likes of John Mikel Obi and Oghenekaro Etebo, then shielding the defence.

Okechukwu breaks up opposition's play brilliantly and has great range of passes that open up spaces on the enemies' backline.

Okechukwu however needs to watch his discipline. The former U-23 captain received 12 yellow cards last season at his club in 29 league matches. He played a total of 2,486 minutes of club football in the 2016/2017 season.

3. Musa Mohammed (Loanee at Zeljeznicar Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Former Golden Eaglets captain Musa Mohammed is a good crosser of the ball whose mobility on the right back position could help the attacking threat the Eagles will pose if invited for the qualifiers against Cameroon in August.

The defender on loan at Bosnia and Herzegovina's Zeljeznicar Sarajevo from Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir played six league matches last season with 146 minutes of football to his name.

The first choice right back at the moment Shehu Abdullahi is not a bad defender. He is good at his game but the extra physical dimension that Mohammed will bring to the team is suitable for the two-legged matches against Cameroon.

4. Brown Ideye (Tianjin TEDA, China)

Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye formed a twin strike-force alongside Fernabahce's Emmanuel Emenike at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria lifted a third AFCON title in South Africa.

Ideye is an experienced striker who has played in the UEFA Champions League for Dynamo Kiev and Olympiakos. He was in the Super Eagles team to the 2010 World Cup in place of an injured John Mikel Obi.

These are achievements which mean that the Tianjin Teda striker will appreciate and applaud the recent feats of the Cameroonians at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and also at the 2017 Confederations Cup but will not be awed by them, after all, he has 'walked through that road' triumphantly before now.

Ideye has played 13 league games for Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League with four goals to his credit with a playing time of 1,018 minutes while he was in action in 20 league games for Greek side, Olympiakos before his switch to the Chinese's club.

Ideye netted 13 league goals for his former side before his departure early this year. His experience, guile and link up play could be key to achieving victories in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

5. Victor Anichebe (Beijing Enterprises, China)

Forgotten Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe revamped his career at former club, Sunderland before his recent move to the China to join Beijing Enterprises.

The striker who was in Nigeria's U-23 Eagles Eagles to the Beijing 2008 Olympics where Samson Siasia led the team to a runners up finish (silver medallists) played 18 Premier League games for the relegated Black Cats and scored just three goals in the season-a situation which was so because of a niggling knee injury.

Physically strong Anichebe is a striker who thrives playing as a foil for a top striker and his partnership with England international Jermaine Defoe underlined that. He can also play out wide and his darting runs will give any defence some work to do..

Anichebe's strength and ability to shrug off defenders is what exactly is required by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rhor to out-muscle a very physical Cameroon backline.

New Everton striker Henry Onyekuru links up with Anderlecht at Austria training camp
**Blues forward to spend season on loan with Belgium club

BY PHIL KIRKBRIDE

Everton striker Henry Onyekuru has joined up with Anderlecht ahead of season long loan.

The Blues sealed a £6.8m deal for the 20-year-old striker last week but immediately confirmed he will spend next term away from Goodison.

Onyekuru finished as joint top scorer in the Belgium league with KAS Eupen last season and Everton beat off competition from West Ham and a host of others to secure his signing.

Blues fans will have to wait until next season to watch him at Goodison, however, as he returns to Belgium to play the 2017-18 campaign with Anderlecht.

Earlier today, Onyekuru jetted to Austria to meet his new team-mates on their pre-season training camp ahead of their first game on July 22 in the Belgium Super Cup against SV Zulte-Waregem.

Nice suggestion by Adepoju but Spain is out of the question because Iheanacho is working towards securing a British passport. He is not leaving England now.

Gernot Rohr to meet Pep Gourdiola over Iheanacho’s future

The future of Manchester City and Super Eagles forward, Keleci Iheanacho, will dominate discussions between Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, and City manager, Pep Gourdiola, this week.

Coach Rohr, who is currently on tour of Europe, where he will meet with the Super Eagles players and their managers ahead of World Cup qualifying game against Cameroon in Uyo will also seek the opportunity of the meeting to ask for early release of the player for the cracker, as Iheanacho would be one of his most wanted players for the game.

Iheanacho has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium Rohr will like to know the prospect of playing time for the 20 year old if he remains at City at the end of the current transfer window, or if a move to one of the teams pushing for his signature will be beneficial for his career.

Already Leicester City are reported to be the favourite to land the forward but West Ham are yet to give up on their chances, and report has it that they have agreed City’s option of a buy back clause in the deal for Iheanacho.

I hope the buy back clause takes a center stage in the discussion. Guardiola should either play Iheanacho or drop the clause and let the young man go. No need holding the young man back. If he does well, we can do a Pogba and buy him back expensive.

Nigerian keeper Vincent Enyeama's Lille future is in doubt
By Oluwashina Okeleji
BBC Sport, Lagos

Former Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is one of 11 players who has been told they are no longer required by new Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa.

The French club's new Argentine boss has also sent messages to Zambia's Stoppila Sunzu, Tunisia's Naim Sliti and Ivory Coast's Junior Tallo saying they are not part of his plans.

Enyeama, who played 101 times for the Super Eagles, only signed a new deal last season and could choose to follow the lead of Tallo.

"As for me, I'm under contract. I will respect the two years I have left. I'm in no hurry," the Ivorian told French Newspaper L'Equipe.

"I want to establish myself at Lille.

"It's the club that wants me to leave. We'll see if they find a solution between now and the end of the transfer window. I'm calm. It's a bit bizarre, but I'm handling it OK.

"I was informed like the others, by text. We're under contract, the club does what it wants.

"We would have liked to have had a discussion. But it's a business choice made by the bosses.

The club has already made some summer signings including Burkina Faso international goalkeeper Herve Koffi following Lille's disappointing 11th place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

But the African quartet, former captain Rio Mavuba, Eder, Julian Palmieri, Marko Basa, Éric Bauthéac, Lenny Nangis and Marvin Martin have been ordered to stay away from the rest of the squad as pre-season started on 3 July.

Enyeama, who joined Lille in June 2011 and has made 164 appearances, welcomed the signing of Koffi last month.

On Monday, Enyeama tweeted a photo with some of his fellow
outcasts, who also include Montenegro international Marko Basa, France international Marvin Martin and , stating: "Always a pleasure to be back with the team."

If u are not taking his words as gospel why are u so quick to tell me I should forget everything I saw with my own eyes and focus on the fact that Rohr said Kelechi was poor? U don't even have any clear reasons why you feel the boy was poor just that he was substituted.

Hull City interested in signing Ola Aina on loan from Chelsea - sources
By Peter O'Rourke

Chelsea defender Ola Aina is being lined up for a loan move to Hull City, sources close to both clubs have told ESPN FC.

New Hull boss Leonid Slutsky is looking to use his close connections with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to bring some of the Premier League club's best youngsters to the KCOM Stadium next season.

Slutsky is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer with a number of players set to leave Hull following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Aina, 20, has come through the ranks at Chelsea and made six appearances in all competitions for the club last season as he played back-up to wing-back Victor Moses in Antonio Conte's side.

Aina, who is primarily a right-back, can play anywhere across the backline and his versatility makes him an attractive option for Hull.

Chelsea are ready to loan him out as they feel playing regular first-team football will aid his development before returning to battle for a spot in their first team.

Aina, who played for England at youth level, has switched his international allegiance to Nigeria and could be keen on a move away in search of regular first-team football ahead of next summer's World Cup.

The system failed because he didn't deploy the right personnel to fit into his system. One of which was Kelechi playing the lone striker role.

Will respect qualify us for the World Cup and Afcon? Its like most of you have forgotten so soon we haven't managed to qualify for 2 Afcons back to back. You need to have a reality check.
It's not like I am advocating for Kelechi to be dropped from the match day squad. I have clearly advocated that he should be tried as the second striker like he played against Zambia.
This cheap blackmails to have other forumites prejudiced against me as "Kelechi hater" won't stop me from blowing my whistle.

What does not qualifying for AFCON have to do with Nacho. We are talking about a nonexistent midfield that got ran over by a white boy from supersports united and u are here blaming your striker.

If u don't want to be truthful we can end this right now. This whole started with u saying u would rather have Etebo play SS instead of Iheanacho, so what's all this about u being ok with Nacho play SS in the next match?

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr meets Antonio Conte
By Osita Duru.

Ahead of the Super Eagles September 1 Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Uyo, Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has commenced consultations with the European based Super Eagles players and the managers to secure their assurances and early release for the much important cracker.

President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick , said during an interview yesterday in Abuja that Rohr met with Eagles and Mainz 05 defender, Leon Balogun, who now has a new coach.

Pinnick also disclosed that the Technical Adviser will travel to London today, where he would be expected to meet with Chelsea Coach, Antonio Conte and Victor Moses, adding that Rohr will also meet with other Super Eagles players in London to ensure their early release for the match.

Both Moses and Balogun were missing in action when the Super Eagles lost 0-2 to visiting South Africa during the 2019 AFCON qualifying match last month.

“We have commenced preparations for the match against Cameroon. As I talk to you, the Technical Adviser is in Europe, he met with his friend, Leon Balogun and his new coach today (Yesterday) and he will be meeting with Victor Moses and his Coach, Conte on Tuesday.

“The coach will also meet with other players in Europe before returning home. The essence of these meetings is to get their assurances for the game, also to secure their early release from their club managers. This is because of the importance we attach to the match.

“For us, we believe that there is no course for alarm, one thing that is sure in that match is that we will beat Cameroon and we are on top of it. As CAF and FIFA organising member, I have decided to abandon my role in international football for now because we are strategizing to win that game. I could not be in South Korea for a FIFA committee meeting; I could not be in Russia for the just concluded FIFA Confederations cup. All these I turned down even though I was highly needed in them because of the Cameroon match and I am sure it will not be in vain,” Pinnick noted

Sometimes the coach should call or skype, the nff needs to save and spend wisely. We don't want to hear that there is no money to clear free footballs.

Ogu: I Wasn ’ t Drunk , But Police Suspended My Driving Licence For Taking Alcohol
By Johnny Edward

Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder John Ogu says he has put behind him the unfortunate incident he had with the Israeli Police who stopped him on suspicion of drunk driving, reports Completesportsnigeria.com .

Israeli daily www.one.co.il had reported that the 28 year old Nigerian midfielder was arrested for drunk driving.

But in a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com shortly before his club's training session on Tuesday, Ogu told revealed that he was not arrested after being breathalysed by the police, but his driver’s license has since been suspended for 30 days.

Ogu told Completesportsnigeria.com ; " I was five minutes away from my home when the police stopped me and friends on our way home from a party."

"I drank at the party but I wasn't drunk,"

"But to them they felt otherwise after the tests."

"So they (the police) stopped me and from the tests it revealed that I had alcohol in me when I was driving. So I was stopped from driving for 30 days.

"I was never arrested."

The 28 year old also issued an apology promising never to flaunt the rules again.

"I have put that behind me now, and I'm in training, ready to give my best to the team to ensure we do well against Honved Budapest in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League next week.

The Date Recuperating Victor Moses Is Expected To Join Chelsea For Pre Season Training

English Premier League Champions Chelsea will be without the services of their flying wingback Victor Moses when they resume for pre season training ahead of the start of next season.
Moses underwent toe surgery after their 1-2 loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup final, which ruled him out of Nigeria’s international engagement after the completion of the football season in England.

However the 26 year old is recuperating real quick, and will team up with the Chelsea squad on the 17 of July, but he is not expected to take part in all of their session.

He will do simple drills to speed up his recovery, and will most likely get involved in the rigorous part of their pre season regime, one week after the rest of his teammates have started serious work.

”Moses will team up with Chelsea on the 17th of July, but he won’t be involved in all of their sessions due to the surgery he had. I think he will need a week of light training before joining the rest of the squad in all drills”, a source close to the player told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Lens Trialist Lukman Haruna On Target Again, Scores Winner In Second Test Game

Former Nigeria international Lukman Haruna was once again on target for his trial side Lens in their 2-1 pre season win over U.S Avranches to hand them their second consecutive pre season victory.

Haruna scored on his first test game, and the former Monaco man showed his sharpness in front of goal once again by netting the winner for his trail team five minutes from full time.

The 25 year old joined the team for trails in a bid to secure a deal following his release by Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev and so far he has done his chances of bagging a deal a whole lot of good.

Once rated as the golden boy of Nigerian football, he lost his way after three seasons at Monaco where he failed to establish him as a regular, before leaving the team for Dynamo Kiev.

Injuries and fitness issues troubled him during his third season in Ukraine, and his last known club was Astana of Kazakhstan where he played just ten games before termination of his loan deal six months earlier than the original date it was supposed to expire.

Nigerian Messi, England U20 Stars, Awoniyi Will Not Train With Liverpool First Team On Wednesday

Liverpool have confirmed via their official webpage that England U20 stars of Nigerian descent Ovie Ejaria, Sheyo Ojo and new signing Dominic Solanke will not train with the first team at the start of pre-season on Wednesday, July 5.

Twenty-two players will report back for duties tomorrow and the three youngsters who helped England clinch their maiden Fifa U20 World Cup have not been listed by The Reds.
They have been handed an extended break due to international commitments with the Young Lions.

Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi requires a work permit to begin his career with Liverpool, and will not train with the first team at Melwood in the absence of the document.

It is now confirmed that Netherlands youth international Bobby Adekanye, dubbed the Nigerian Messi in these parts, will not be involved with the main squad, based on the release by Liverpool.

Chelsea receive offer from Goztepe to sell Kenneth Omeruo - report
**CHELSEA have received an offer from Goztepe to sign Kenneth Omeruo, according to reports.

By Liam Spence.

Omeruo, 23, joined the Blues from Standard Liege in January 2012 but he has failed to make a single first-team appearance.
He has been loaned out four times with his latest spell being with Turkish side Alanyaspor, where he made 26 Super Lig appearances and scored one goal.

This was the Nigeria international’s second spell in Turkey after previously spending time on loan at Kasimpasa.

Omeruo has two years remaining on his contract at Chelsea , but securing first-team action at the club seems very unlikely.

And Turkish outlet Fotomac say Goztepe are interested in
offering him the chance to secure regular first-team football.

The newly-promoted side are said to have entered the race alongside Sivasspor to sign the centre-back.

But Goztepe appear to be the frontrunners for his signature with their offer being more attractive.

Omeruo harbours ambitions of staying the Premier League, but accepts he may not get his wish.

“Playing in the English Premier League will be great, but it will be down to the kind of offers I get,” Omeruo told Completesportnigeria last week.

Chelsea have recieved an offer from Goztepe for Kenneth Omeruo

He also confirmed he will be returning to Chelsea for pre-season, but admits he wants to have more game time to ensure he keeps his place in the Nigeria national team.

“I will be rejoining Chelsea for pre-season and there everything will be much clearer if I will be going out on loan again or staying at the club to be actively involved,” he added.

“I just want to play more games as much as I can and stay fully fit to represent my club and country.

“I have always had that dream to play football at the highest level, and when the opportunity came for me to join Chelsea I didn't hesitate.

“But since I joined the club, I have played on loan and each team I joined always wanted me to stay on at the club.

“But it has been a good experience for me and I just want to build on them this coming season. As regards my future, no decision has been made yet.”

4 Generations of the Green Eagles/Super Eagles from the 1980s to present.

This write up is aimed at selecting the best 11 from each of the generations of Eagles.

I have grouped the 4 generations into 4 different decades: 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s(present)

Taking our minds down Memory Lane a bit, some may have to cast our minds farther than others. But which ever generation you belong your team will be captured.

With the emergence of Enugu Rangers and IICC as formidable forces in the mid to late 70s both in Nigeria and Africa, Nigeria was able to produce a formidable team that finished 3rd at the 1978 AFCON and ended up with a crescendo by winning the 1980 AFCON (then called the African Cup of Unity). That was the birth of Nigeria's dominance of football in Africa.

From 1980 to 1989 this is my first 11:

Peter Rufai
Bright Omokaro
Christian Chukwu
Stephen Keshi
Yisa Shofoluwe
Muda Lawal
Henry Nwosu
Samuel Okwaraji
Segun Odegbami
Adokiye Amiesimaka
Rashidi Yekini

With the Green Eagles of Algiers 90 nations cup came a new era of Nigerian football. Some of the players in the team of the 80s had become the senior players of the team. This era saw us dominate football in Africa and at a time ranked 5th in the world, highest for any African team ever. Also winning the AFCON in 1994.

My first 11 from the 1990 to 1999:

Peter Rufai
Ben Iroha
Uche Okechukwu
Stephen Keshi
Augustine Eguavoen
Sunday Oliseh
Austin Okocha
Emmanuel Amuneke
Finidi George
Daniel Amokachi
Rashidi Yekini

With Nigeria producing so many quality youth players in the 1990s both at the U17 and U20. Including winning the Olympics in 1996 and a q/final showing in 2000. A new generation of Eagles emerged. Some others joined from the 2003 U17 and 2005 U20. Some of the players from the 90s had become senior players in the team.

My first 11 for 2000 to 2009:

Vincent Enyeama
Taye Taiwo
Joseph Yobo
Taribo West
Chidi Odiah
Garba Lawal
Austin Okocha
Osaze Odemwingie
Tijani Babangida
Nwankwo Kanu
Yakubu Ayegbeni

The 2010 WC saw the end of a good number of the players of the 2000s. Some retired even before then.
The super eagles would had to depend mostly on the players who featured at the 2003 U17, 2005 U20, 2007 U20, 2008 U23 and 2009 U17 to carry the team further. This culminated in the team wining the AFCON in 2013. Nigeria continued to turn out quality youth players from the 2011 U20, 2013 U20, 2013 U17, 2015 U20 and 2015 U17.

My first 11 from 2010 to date:

Vincent Enyeama
Elderson Echiejile
Kenneth Omeruo
Godfrey Obaobona
Efe Ambrose
Ogenyi Onazi
John Obi Mikel
Victor Moses
Ahmed Musa
Ikechukwu Uche
Emmanuel Emenike

These are strictly my opinion. You are free to criticize or agree on any generation. Who is on my side on this one?

I'll rather you replace the yak with Aghaowa tho by 2004 he was already fading but he had a greater impact during his 2-3yrs reign. then balogun should be replaced with oboabona that guy was solid at afcon 2013, balogun has hardly played for us, I can count his caps with my fingers. my own take
