Everything about automobiles revolves around energy in whichever form and you know very well energy cannot be created. If Mr A ascends a hill through the steepy side while Mr B did same through a less steepy side, both expend same energy as long as both cover same vertical height.
Take it or leave it, energy in chemical form is the most flexible in terms of conversion and whichever technology is invented today, as long as energy consumption is involved, everything will still point towards fossil fuel.
Science is yet to come up with an alternative energy source competitive with fossil fuel.
Let's wait and see how events unfold.

In all those countries you mentioned, its usage is still in the minimal and IMO in a testing stage..when everyone sees how more secured it is to go EV there will be no alarm bells....

EV will eventually takeover,but saying that in 8years time EV will render benz, toyota and all PE IMO is difficult.
