Wanted to ignore this fortuneteller but decided to come out and speak. I grew up living with a distant cousin, I was 10, the treatment wasn't palatable but I had to stay cos I knew where I was coming from, I wanted something better. I was more like a 'househelp' cos that was what I was referred as. It wasn't funny going to school without txtbooks, taking care of babies when I was meant to read. Now that's what you are fighting against. I went back to my people after my sec.sch, my cousin saw me through university and today am married. They didn't treat me like their own cos it was obvious wasn't but because I wanted something better for myself, I had to behave cos my papa no send any of us( we are 7). I loved the children and they loved me as well, they were more like my siblings.
Now, I brought my lil sis to stay with me and also help out around the house, take care of her sibling while am away. She is 15. Now is that child slavery? She obviously is in school and if I had brought anyone to stay with me, it's to help out and also be trained cos I need to work. If she were at home, it would have been added burden on my mum so I decided to help. Bringing in a help is different from slavery depending on the person's age. Someone from age 7-18 as a 'nanny ' to be PAID isn't ideal but frm 19 is OK as they can make decisions for themselves, some even take it as a job. So my sister, not all who take other people's child is using them as slaves. It's a form of adoption- that's if the child is of good behavior.
