I like this pic. There's something "Eastern European" about it, besides the AK.
You're spot-on, that's what I thought.

Having different races in the SASFB gives them tactical advantage when deployed for non conversational missions. White South Africans dressed up looking like east Europeans gives me the chills. You saw the one I removed right? IDF at first glance.

SupremeCourt:

If their is no more face to face in 21st century war, why do your soldiers carry rifles in South African army? You shoot rifle at enemy you dont see with your eyes?

Nigerian air force can use guiding missiles from air drones, war helicopters, and jf-17 thunder jets from many miles away where the enemy cannot see NAF aeroplanes. Those jf-17 are coming with invisible distance guiding missiles that do not exist in any black African country, whatever flies in South Africa will fall under gravity and you wont even see the jf-17 far off shooting. The budget 2017, draft 2018 covers all that with proposal for 2019-2020 AESAA radar being tested, it is said that it blinds its opponents.

Air Marshal Abubakar insists anything NAF buys now will be complete package of sophistication available in the country of origin. We paid for 3 jets on 2016-17 budgets, our demand for state-of-the art technology that are now being tested is causing slow down to delivery. The 2020 medium term plan document dictates NAF must have superior air power above any country in Africa except the Mediterranean nations. No nation in the black world will be able to survive against NAF 2020.

Thanks again, for that nemesis2u! In case it makes a difference let me drop some info. The Hind was developed from Russian observation of US chopper tactics in the 'Nam. They saw the problem the Huey had and broke it down thusly:
-how to deliver troops from 500 to 800 m of actual combat
-how to protect the frame in such a situation

The Mi 24 was born in the early Seventie's.

The Soviets studied the American experience in Vietnam closely. The U.S. Army had chosen to use helicopters to ferry large numbers of troops into battle and also to serve as aerial gun platforms. General Designer Mikhail Leontyevich Mil, who headed a Soviet design bureau, first proposed a "flying infantry fighting vehicle" in the mid-1960s, building a full-scale mockup of a helicopter designated the V-24. Unlike American helicopters, Mil's design would carry both weapons and troops, combining functions that the Americans had kept separate. Mil received permission to develop a prototype in 1967

However,it suffered obvious manoevrability issue.

During one incident in the early 1980s, an American AH-1G Cobra was flying along the East German border when a Hind was ordered to intercept it. The two helicopters played a game of chase along the border, with the U.S. pilot constantly pulling into a sharp climb to force his faster opponent to overshoot him. Eventually the Hind pilot pulled back too hard and his aircraft started to tumble. He pushed his aircraft into a dive in order to recover, with the intention of pulling back sharply before hitting the ground. When he pulled back hard on his stick, the main rotor blades struck the tailboom of the Hind and the helicopter crashed, killing all aboard. This problem—the Hind's tendency to damage itself catastrophically when the rotors hit the tailboom—has long plagued the aircraft.

4. I am yet to see any air force in sub Saharan Africa able to deploy more than 5 fighters not lead in trainers. sad that is but only one air force is capable of such.

Actually, mikecza, even during the early nineties when the KAF suffered a low grade embargo we had at least 3 x that number.
Carry on!

Ps. You shouldn't compare yourselves with SSA!

I post them here daily. Then, what you want to agree with or disagree with is inconsequential and of no meaning.

However the fact is Nigeria and Poland both evaluated the Rooivalk recently, Nigeria rejected it. Poland would also do same.

Post your source.

You have never posted anything to suggest this.

I'll respond no further to any arguments on this subject. The Nigerian position is clear, we found the Rooivalk to be sub-standard, inadequate and as such flatly rejected it.

Where did they say this?

Oh please, a MiG29? and 23 are in service. That wouldn't even see the low radar signature Gripen coming.

That can scare the NAF maybe, we have something more modern with better avionics and built-in EW suits.

2014 Nigeria tried to buy ageing AH-1F helicopters from Isreal, and got denied
http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Report-US-vetoed-Israeli-sale-of-attack-helicopters-to-Nigeria-388985

Dec 2014 Nigeria got so angry about this, they cancelled all US training programs in Nigeria

September 2015 Nigeria settles for the Mi-35M, placing an order for 12

February 2016 Nigerians attend a Rooivalk demonstration in RSA,

So, the timeline:

- 2014, Nigeria tries to buy AH-1F, gets denied
- 2015, Nigeria decides to settle and buy the Mi-35M
- 2016, Nigerians are present in RSA for a Rooivalk demo, Rooivalk not actually being sold.

Have you finished paying the previous loan you used to buy the Gripens, frigates and submarines?

SF have all what they want , most what exist in the market ( you can check SF pics)

for regular soldiers the regular rifle is the AKM because different versions of AKM and chinese versions : PM-89 , PM-89-1 are 100% built locally in algeria from 90s wih ammunitions , and have shown great reliability during the war against terrorism , no need to present the AKs resistance, robustness, power, simplicity,, low cost, and reliability in the extrem climatic and environmental conditions , in algeria ( desert , forest , snow ,cold, hot ect..)

Algerian Khenchela Company of mechanical constructions (ECMK) produce most of algerian Infantry standard Weapons , and the Algerian Seriana Company (ERIS) produces Ammunitions , ECMK produce : PA Makarov , PA Caracal F (UAE license) , différent version of AKM , SVD (Dragunov) , RS 202P shotgun , RPD machine gun ,GP-25 Grenade Launchers , and also the RPG-7V

pics AK produced in algeria

You don't have an effective tax collection system like South Africa. Your state is failing to collect tax like it should.
