So there had been back and forth here with no resolution on whether it's possible to get a student status while visiting Canada without having to return back to Nigeria and apply for a TRV. Yes it's possible.

1. By applying while in Canada to change your status to that of a student if you belong to the listed class of visiting visa and temporary residents as enumerated in this link:

2. Apply for TRV online while in Canada by sending application to the CIC office in Los Angeles, California.

You are most welcome. You would be right. I had that in mind too when I read that clause. I remembered someone on this forum said their friend went to Canada as a visitor and was able to change his/her status to a student, had since concluded studies and now a permanent resident. Was that your friend?

Sponsor pays school fees and make a direct bank to bank transfer of living expenses fund to you does it. However, sponsors source of income must be accounted for.

You really need to read on it. It's a whole package on it own.

Good morning people. thanks for the advice God bless you all. i applied for Canadian visa last year pgd lambton for HRM, undergrad english language. visa denied this year January, reason was purpose of visit isnt clear, the agent that helped me the first time suggested i apply for a pg program in a uni but i will have to wait till sept 2018, so i have decided to apply myself this time. please any advice to take this time around. Ive changed my one year program to a two year program and also my letter of denial do i need to include it in my new application. and also what document do i need to include to the application to show i will return after my studies?

You need to show them your ties to Nigeria. Either landed properties, family(wife, kids, etc)

max 2 months once you give them all the details needed to send the money back to the account it came from..

Please include it in ur application package,it will go a long way as regards home ties. I also included same documents during my application too. Don't forget to state it in your sop as well. Best of God!
