Are you still at home with your baby? Have you started work? If you are still with baby, then you need to feed him before you feel your milk leaking. If you have started work, you can express more frequently or you have to start reducing your milk supply by breastfeeding less.

I'm still at home but resuming next month. The leaking/soaking, I can endure. At worst, I change the bra and breast pad. The challenge is when the boobs are so engorged and I start feeling pains. So I express but sadly, this just increases my supply as the boobs are filled again after a few hours. I really don't know how I'm gonna cope when I resume work.

Who is this devil who has tried to summon me?? Anyone who employs a child as a maid is ignorant and evil. I live in a modern country and I know that due to the ignorance in Nigeria, child slavery is still ongoing. However I also know that many evil spirits lie there who don't want the system to change. This is why you find Nigerians carving up whales while other countries are administering aid to the animals. Nigeria is a zoo and many of its people are animals. Once you realize this, I would hope that you would want more for yourself. I tire for the place and really don't want to have anything else to do with it. I have no plans of visiting or stepping foot into that desolate place. The evil surpasses me. I only pray for your innocent children to escape and not be corrupted.

Guidelines For Rapid Reduction of Milk Supply

Linda J. Smith, BSE, FACCE, IBCLC

Sometimes breastfeeding mothers must quickly stop breastfeeding. I hope each mother has exhausted all avenues for help before taking this step. Nevertheless, all mothers have a right to wean safely and comfortably. These guidelines have helped many mothers:

1. Contact your physician (obstetrician or family doctor) before and during this process. Contact your baby's doctor for advice on appropriate substitute milks.

2. Be prepared to take 1-3 weeks to reduce supply to the point where you don't have to remove milk to be comfortable.

3. The breasts make milk faster when they are "empty" and slower when they have milk stored in them. (1) (2) Therefore:

bullet Remove only as much milk as necessary to keep from feeling "bursting" or swollen, overfilled or lumpy. Allow most of the milk to stay in the breast.
bullet Remove milk by pumping and/or hand-expression.
bullet The suppressor peptides in the retained milk will gradually signal the gland to stop producing milk.
bullet At first, you may have to remove some milk every few hours. As time goes on and supply decreases, you can go longer between removal sessions and take less out each time.
4. If you are engorged or swollen, do NOT use heat on swollen tissue - use cold packs instead. Cold compresses (3) may feel very comforting and reduce any swelling around the milk glands and ducts. Do NOT use a breast binder(4), as these have been shown to increase pain and have no effect on the weaning process.

5. Cool cabbage compresses(5) will reduce swelling quickly, and if left in place for long periods will help diminish milk supply. This method may be used instead of or in addition to removing small amounts of milk to reduce supply. Use fresh green leaves, cleaned and chilled, wrapped around the breasts. Change them about every two hours.

6. Any milk collected during this process can be fed to your baby unless the physician determines it is unsafe, which is extremely rare. The milk may have more protective properties in it during weaning, which will help protect the breast from infection and provide protection to the baby if the milk is given.

7. If only one breast needs to stop production, you may want to consider continuing to nurse on the other. If direct nursing at the breast is not an option, some mothers continue to pump their milk and feed it to the baby.

8. After your breasts have been soft for 24 hours without removing milk, you probably can discontinue expressing. However, if breasts fill up again, continue with the above steps.

9. Once breastfeeding stops, fertility may return in 4-8 weeks. Be prepared!

10. Some physicians prescribe bromocriptine to reduce prolactin. The FDA has not approved this drug for milk suppression. If you plan to use it, discuss the implications and side effects with your physician or pharmacist.

11. You may have to hold the baby in a different position (not in nursing position) until your breasts are soft and the baby stops rooting for the breast. Continue to make feedings a pleasant, cuddly time. Continue to observe the baby for cues to start and stop feedings. NEVER prop a bottle. The baby needs YOU as well as food.

12. If you change your mind or the baby does not tolerate other feeding products, building up your supply again is reasonably easy for about 6 weeks after stopping, regardless of when you stop. Contact a lactation consultant for help.

13. Congratulate yourself for ANY breastfeeding, even just one feeding! Allow yourself to grieve over giving up something that was important for you, but didn't work out the way you planned. It's OK to be sad or regret having to stop breastfeeding. If you are very sad for many days, please seek professional counseling.

14. Keep giving your baby plenty of time and touching. In the long run, those are the most important things!

I only understand cabbage leaves here, all others looks strange to me.............. All the best as you resume. If they don't work, pack plenty breast pad to work, wear dark coloured clothings to hide spills and go with a breast pump.

Got Too Much Milk? How to Decrease Your Milk Supply
Oversupply tends to be less of an issue for women who are exclusively pumping than it is for mothers that are nursing, because the two major problems that nursing women have from oversupply – forceful let-down and foremilk/hindmilk imbalance – are generally mitigated by the use of the pump and bottle. For example, forceful let-down, where your milk comes down so quickly your baby can’t handle it, is not an issue for your breast pump (which obviously can handle the milk at a fast rate) or for your baby, who will drink it at a slower pace from a bottle. Additionally, you are less likely to have problems with foremilk/hindmilk imbalance when exclusively pumping – since the milk is all mixed together in the bottle – versus a nursing baby, who will fill up on foremilk first.
However, some women have issues with clogged ducts and mastitiswhen they have oversupply. If you’d like to decrease your supply because of this, or because you have no more room in your freezer or it’s time to wean, here are several things that you can do to reduce your milk supply.
Try Cabbage Leaves
Who doesn’t want to have a salad in their bra? There hasn’t been a lot of research done to show why this works, but it is often recommended by lactation consultants and doctors to provide relief from engorgement and reduce milk supply. One theory is that the amnio acids in the cabbage help to decrease tissue congestion by opening capillaries and improving the blood flow in and out of the engorged breast, relieving inflammation and allowing the milk to flow freely.
To use a cabbage leaf, wash it and slice off the tops of the vein with a knife. Then put it in your bra. You’ll want to leave it in there until it wilts – about 20-30 minutes – and repeat often. Women who have engorgement are instructed to do this three to four times in a 24 hour period to reduce engorgement without losing milk supply; since you are trying to decrease your milk supply, you may want to do it more than that. Just be careful not to overdo it if you’re not weaning; once you start to see results I would pull back a bit and reevaluate.
If you have cracked or bleeding nipples, hold off on using cabbage until that has healed, or, if possible, you can just place the cabbage on areas that are unaffected.
You can chill the cabbage leaves in the refrigerator if that’s more comfortable for you, but they don’t need to be chilled to work.
Take Sudafed
For some women, taking pseudoephedrine (the active ingredient in Sudafed) will reduce milk supply – a small study of lactating women showed that one dose of Sudafed reduced milk supply over the next 24 hours by 24%.
Unless you are weaning or have significant negative effects from oversupply, use caution with reducing supply with Sudafed, as the effect will vary from woman to woman, and you don’t know how it will affect you until you try it.
In the United States, Sudafed is sold in most pharmacies behind the pharmacy counter, but you don’t need a prescription.
Eat or Drink Sage
Sage is one of a few herbs that can decrease milk supply. There are a few different ways that you can consume it; you can use dried sage from your spice rack to make tea or ingest directly, or you can take capsules.
To make sage tea, put one teaspoon of dried sage in one cup boiling water and steep for 15 minutes. You can also eat it directly by mixing it in with other foods, or, if you don’t like the taste, putting about 1/4 tsp of it on something sticky (like honey on a very small piece of bread) and try to swallow it like a pill. Both of these options sound totally disgusting to me, so I would probably just go with the capsules. Remember that like Sudafed, sage can be very effective in quickly decreasing milk supply, so again, I would stop and reevaluate once you start to see results, unless you’re weaning.
(Gradually) Pump Less Milk
Finally, the most important thing that you can do to pump less milk is … pump less milk. Breastfeeding is a supply and demand process, so the more milk that you remove from your breasts via the pump, the more milk your body thinks it needs to make. The trick is to pump less milk gradually, so that you don’t run into the problems of clogged ducts or mastitis that were mentioned above as you’re in the process of reducing your milk supply.
There are a few different ways that you can approach this, and I’ve covered them in more detail in a post on dropping pumping sessions. For example, you can pump for less time in each pumping session, you can slowly reduce the volume that you pump in a given pumping session, or you can completely drop a pumping session.
If you have had a clogged duct or mastitis before, I would definitely recommend focusing on reducing volume. With this method, you pick one pumping session and slowly reduce the amount that you pump during that session.
For example, let’s say that at your 3pm pumping session you normally get 8oz, and you’re trying to reduce your supply. On the first day, you’ll pump 7oz and then stop, no matter how much time it’s been. The next day (or you can wait a couple of days to allow more time for your body to adjust, if you’d like), you can take it down to 6oz, and so on, until you’re pumping the amount you want in that session. Then, once your body has adjusted, you can repeat the process with other pumping sessions until your supply is where you’d like it to be.
You can also try pumping for less time. One approach is to completely drop a pumping session without adding the time of the dropped pump back into your remaining pumping session. Or, you could reduce the length of each of your pumping sessions by a few minutes, though this approach may take a few weeks to work.

I was in your shoes few weeks back I even sorted for advice on this forum...I discovered that as my dd grow older her appetite increases. Before she won't take quarter from one side and she is full already and takes longer interval between feeds but now she can almost empty one and feeds like 3-4 hours interval She is 12wks, I do give one side at a feeding since I know that will be ok for her at that moment..And also so that she can get the full milk(fore and hind). When the boobs are engorged use warm water and express( do this like every 4-5 hours so that it won't affect your production.
Again about the leak use breast pad, i use disposable it prevents your bra and top from soaking. During feeding, when you are home, you can collect the leaks from the other boobs inside a bottle and dispose afterwards but outside use your hand and apply pressure on your tip so it will stop flowing(I still do this, but I know as time goes on the won't be need for this)

Just be patience your production will adjust itself according to your baby needs..don't do anything to reduce the flow cos you will be needing it as your lo grow older unless you are not doing ebf..

Use a nail file. Much better than a nail cutter, nail scissors. Especially for when baby is quite small. It's a family tradition in my home, that my mum gets out her special nail file and is the first to file baby's nails gently whilst they are sleeping (some other things happen as well).

Please dear mums be very vigilant and possessive of your kids and wards. Know where they are at a given time, don't send them on errands during evening hours. My sister's exams were moved and she will be vacating tomorrow 11/7/2017, reason been that there is a high rate of kidnap around. Some students were kidnapped and about 30million has been paid to the abductors but no release yet as they are asking for more money. So government has asked schools to hasten up with their exams and send children home. Pls share.
