PRESS RELEASE
NIGERIAN AIR FORCE ESTABLISHES NEW BRANCH AND COMMANDS, REDEPLOYS SENIOR OFFICERS

As part of restructuring efforts by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance the effective and efficient projection of air power, 2 new Commands and a Branch have been established. The 2 new Commands established are the Air Training Command (ATC) with Headquarters in Kaduna and Ground Training Command (GTC) with Headquarters in Enugu. These new commands were excised from the now defunct Training Command (TC) thereby bringing the total number of Commands in the NAF to 6. The ATC will be responsible for the implementation of policies on flying and air operations while the GTC will be responsible for the implementation of local ground training.

The newly established Branch is known as Communications Branch. The Branch was unbundled from the former Logistics and Communications Branch which brings the number of NAF branches to 10. The new Branch would handle all the needs of the NAF, with regards to communications, electronics, radar maintenance, Information and Space Technology.

Sequel to this development, the NAF has redeployed a total of 58 officers comprising 25 Air Vice Marshals (AVM), 20 Air Commodores, 5 Group Captains, one Wing Commander, 4 Squadron Leaders, 2 Flight Lieutenants and one Flying Officer. Among those posted to Defence Headquarters are AVMs Wakili Ahmed, Defence Policy and Plans; Ibrahim Umaru, Director Safety and Manual; Benjamin Nweze, Director, Civil-Military Relations; Eche Agwungwu, Director Space; Bernard Chiobi, Director of Operations and Onyemaechi Osahor, Director General Defence Research Production Bureau.

Senior Officers posted within HQ NAF include AVMs Nurudeen Balogun who is now Chief of Training and Operations; Muhammadu Muhammed, Chief of Policy and Plans; Charles Otegbade, Director of Plans; Olusoji Awomodu, Director of Museum and Archives; Sani Ahmed, Director of Policy; Muhammad Abdul-Wahab, Air Secretary; Kingsley Lar, Chief of Standards and Evaluation; Napoleon Bali, Director of Training; Christian Dii, Managing Director Aircraft Engineering and Technical Services Limited; Abdulganiyu Olabisi, Chief of Aircraft Engineering; Charles Oghomwen, Chief of Communications, Cletus Udeagulu, Director Research and Development and Paul Dimfwina, Director of Evaluation. Similarly, the newly appointed Air Officers Commanding are AVMs Samson Akpasa, Ground Training Command, Enugu; Saddiq Kaita, Special Operations Command, Bauchi; and Mohammed Idris, Tactical Air Command, Makurdi.

Namibians , how many of you know your first infantry units, post uhuru were trained by the KDF?

The United Nations Transitional Assistance Group (UNTAG)'s Kenyan infantry battalion remained in Namibia for three months after independence to assist in training the NDF and stabilize the north. Martin Shalli and Charles 'Ho Chi Minh' Namoloh were involved in the negotiations that allowed the Kenyan infantry battalion to remain for that period
.
http://wikivisually.com/wiki/Namibia_Defence_Force

We really really REALLY should've leveraged that opportunity into something for Kenya but at that time, early nineties, we were in the worst of the MoI era when we were a 4 th world country. Do you know Nujoma has never forgotten that and even invited Kenyans to settle specifically to farm?

I can't find pics ,just this.

s
praise for foreign land is in a way criticism of mother land. Its political statements about Kenya can be found in the fascination it has for Namibia.

Kenyan towns are dirty, the text says without saying, as he praises the cleanliness of Namibian town, which a Kenyan "could not help noting" because of "the gaping difference" between foreign towns and Kenyan ones.

"Namibian towns were so clean that a person could easily pick an orange from the pavement and eat it without a second thought about germs," the writer says.

The potholes in Nairobi are also a subject directly addressed by hyperbolic praise of Namibia. "Roads too were a sight to behold," the amazed writer notes. "They were spacious, accommodating and had no potholes."

That picture confused many, in fact it still does.... Green recce like colours, the snake skin and the brown boots are very typical South African. The AK47 is what a South African recce wouldn't jump with (as you know).

General specifications of Nigeria's locally built IPV.

The vehicle was launched during the Nigerian army's research and innovation summit earlier this year.

The vehicle participated in this year's army capability demonstration in Sambisa forest.

The vehicles has seen been deployed in the Theater of operation.

The infantry patrol vehicle (ipv) with off-road mobility and a crew of three was one of the star attractions at the summit. Weighing 650kg and powered by 150-200 Horse Power Engine, the ipv has a 130 kilometre per hour capacity.
It provides force multiplier and the required flexibility to undertake all tasks across the entire spectrum of military operations, including range fighting, fast action mission, urban and border patrols.
The ipv is fitted with two machine guns and have been deployed in all the theatres of operation."

The next logical step for the NA is for them to design an MRAP.

An educated grin guess could be 2 or 3 motorised Bn's....the 'North' part of Namibia is covered by 3 Bn's in Oshakati,Rundu and Katima Mulilo(all under 26 BDE today)so one would assume those are the Kenyan trained units...Army PR is non existant so you'll have to go by that

Not exactly, Brigade sized marine combat capabilities still rests with 82 division Enugu. The newly activated 6 division Port Harcourt incorporates some amphibious elements more in the special forces role. 6 division is currently operationalising special combat teams each tasked with it's own specific assignments: anti-oil bunkering, anti-kidnapping, armed robbery and violent cult gangs etc. A grip is been put on the delta.
