Bought conoil shortly before I went on holidays, didnt follow the market while I way away ... came back to realise I have lost about 30% on conoil . na to sit tight with this one ... felt bad though.. normal me would have exited since... just 2 weeks of not following the market and see the damage ! those who buy long term I wonder how you profit ...

Already own FO Shares. If they take ConOil to N20, the better for me...Na to buy as much as my pocket can carry and wait next year to see who is wrong. I or MR. Market?

Start from Intrinsic value - calculated by Net Present Value of future cash flow not necessarily earnings (NPV) 10yrs with appropriate discount rate. This would give a range of the value of the business. Look to buy at 2/3 of your estimated value to allow for the margin of Safety.
In looking at a stock- you are trying to buy a business so start from
1. Economics - Business/Instrinc value, P.E,
2. Moat- competitive advantage.
3. Management- e.g don't even look at Oando
4. Price

Seeking knowledge: find it in books.
1. Dhando investor by Mohnsih Pabrai
2. Margin of Safety by Seth Klarman
3. Education of a Value Investor By Guy Spier
4. The little book of Value Investing
5. You too can be a stock market genius by Joel greenblatt
6. The little book that beats the market - Joel Greenblatt
