Go to IITA. Premier doesn't do cassava stems while IITA does both.
They should be able to give you contacts for farmers; I know they do for cassava.

-when do you spray?
-did you use seed planter?
-at what point did you apply fertilizer?
-have you harvested? If so what was your yield?

-I sprayed with glyphosate the day of planting the maize, and subsequent spraying when weeds starts sprouting. In all, i sprayed thrice before harvesting and once against pest.
- Manual planting of two to three seeds per hole
-I applied fertilizer exactly a month after planting
- I harvested April with a total of 4.7tonnes

Searched on Alibaba. Connected with the company on Whatsapp. They sent me pics and videos demonstrating the product as well as product catalogues, all within 2 hours. Cost of shipping was prohibitive, so I liaised with a company that ships goods from China to Nigeria (internet search revealed several and I picked one). Paid the supplier and the shipper the agreed prices, and within a week, my product was in my hands.

I have bought cars from the US, so this one was not a problem for me at all.

Please house which variety of maize is suitable or used for making of dry pap (akamu). Thanks for your reply

It's hand held, just like the one Phemmy is advertising. His own is actually more advanced as it can deliver fertilizer during the same planting operation.

I do not know about Oba super 2 and Oba98 but I know that Sammaz 37 has intermediate maturity and is resistant to drought and striga.

I think the best seed is Seedco's SC 727 and SC 719 (yield potential of 14 tonnes per hectare), Mosanto's DK 920 (potential yield of 10 tonnes per hectare) and Dupont's Pioneer Sees (potential yield of 8 to 12 tonnes per hectare). PLEASE note: Yield potential and actual yield are ALWAYS different.

For maize, 3 Maize Force by Jubaili did great for me as a pre emergence herbicide. I currently don't use any post emergence.

For farmers planting late season maize, please study the rainfall patter in your area before planting and choose the right seeds to plant. Early maturity varieties may be needed if rainfall stops early in your zone.

Striker is selective. Atrazine is not. Generally, the word 'selective' is dangerous. Be careful what you spray once crop germinates. My neighbour lost his 100-acre maize this year to 'selective' herbicides.

pls something is attacking my maize, I mean the leaves. This thing is just eating up the leaves.& its really spreading through

2, Rodents are cutting down the maize from the stem near the root. This rodents are really destructive. They do suck the liquid at the stem base of the plant, and so the entire plant is rendered useless.
Pls anyone with a perfect solution to this. Mind you, I fence it round with bamboo and mosquito net, block all holes used as hiding place for this rodent but some are still troubling the plant
