Any amount of money is reasonable before marriage. True love is important before marriage. When their is true love, money won't determine the happiness of the marriage.

It largely depends on the location....a monthly income of 100k for instance might not go far in Abuja but can in states like Plateau,Kaduna....however,I belief in humble beginnings-you dont need tarty billion for the akant before you take the bold step, start out small and grow together.
well said....to be honest wit you...how many percent of the unmarried guys current earn 100k in cities like Lagos and Abuja....?
few dear.....few earn that level self....let alone states like taraba and Benue

There is no specific or reasonable income that will be enough before or after marriage. The important thing is to know your spouse and know your pocket wella.
If you leverage on a particular amount, you might just wait forever before you finally settle down.

Some people are saying 100K, 150k, let me not even mention above the one listed. If you join federal civil service even with your degree is few ministries that will pay you up to 100k. You guys will remain single, I am working in the North, here somebody that is selling water will got married to two women. A jerry can of water is 20n, do you think in a month the person will make up to 20k yet he survive with the two wives.

My father said this to me: _When i was 25, i was talking about making billions before i marry. Many years later, billions didn't come, yet no kid
no wife... I had an opportunity to marry the most beautiful love of my life very early, But my fear was, can i really take care of her? But right now She's married with Four grown up children. The guy that married her was still schooling then, but had the courage. They worked hard and succeeded together. I failed, so please if you can feed yourself, you can feed your wife. You have to believe it, marry early, don't wait.

Don't make our mistakes, I see my childhood friends play with their kids.. Most of them are not doing as well as me.. But they are happier with their families.. Trust me it isn't money only, but Rather your Maturity, your happiness depends entirely on your wisdom and the way you Handle Life. With a well planned life they are happier.

Trust me it isn't money, What is our problem? Build mansion, buy the latest Car in Town, marry Sharon stone type, but still we don't have those things we dreamt of, and of course the years we wasted, we can never have them neverrrr!!!_

Please don't be 60yrs old and your kids will still be in their 20's..What are you supposed to be at that age? Their grand father. Please young men, take my advice seriously.

Marry, don't be afraid, that girl you are finding too many fault in has many good qualities if you look well.

I got married with less than 40k as monthly income 5 years ago, now am making over 500k monthly. Am very glad I did not listen to some stupid advice then. Most of my friends who were making a mockery of me then are still single waiting for billions before they get married but the billions still dey far, wife too still dey far. In 2-4 years they will clock 40 still single. All you need is Love and Faith to settle down( The Just Shall Live By Faith)

All this people suggesting above 200k.... How many people in Nigeria are making more than 100k sef. Get real. Make your opinions factual bearing in mind the everyday financial struggles of the average Nigerian which is over 80% of the total population.

early marriage has its ups and downs, don't concentrate on the advantages alone....consider the disadvantages too.

And stop the mentality that it is wrong for a man to be 60yrs while his kids are 20...it is not bad. Your message is one of the reasons poverty is widespread in Nigeria and Africa as a whole....look around Nigeria, you see children born without plan for them because their parents just married because they wanted to have kids early without any financial road map to give the kids a good future...we must stop marrying with the belief that miracle will happen....they miracle can still happen when u are single and focused.

Some of our fathers married at 27 - 30 during their days and some gave birth to 10 and above kids...now space the kids with 2yrs, it means some of our dads gave their last children up to 20 - 30yrs and they still look cool. So if a guy plans to give birth to just 2 kids and waits to be financial okay before he settles and finally settles down at 38 - 42yrs, its not bad. Populating the world shouldn't be the sole aim of modern day Nigerian youths but making sure your kids have a beautiful future should be smiley

Nairalander sef, all these people mentioning 250k, 450k how much are u currently earning? (Even those of u who are old enough to get married). In this present Nigeria, how many people earn above 100k montly? Even bankers, how much do they earn? U guys are basically saying Nigerians should not get married at all because there are many people who are stuck with 40k, 50k jobs and don't even have the time to apply for jobs elsewhere because they are being overused at their current place of work and ofcus they feel there's no point trying cus people are getting layed off on a daily basis.....

Marriage and cost of maintaining a family is a relative thing, dependent on factors as location, how many kids u intend to have, etc... Both partners should be earning sth meaningful and if what they are earning isn't reasonable enough, then they should make sure they don't give birth to a dozen children
