He disclosed that his gang initially operated on Kaduna -Abuja highway, but moved to and concentrated on Niger State, when other groups relocated to that zone to operate. Ahmed said: “We do not have informants; we just pray everyday for a successful raid and move out. We either throw sharp instruments on the road, so that the vehicles’ tyres would burst or use cars to block the highway. As soon as we picked our victim, we would take them deep into the forest and keep moving them till they pay the ransom.” He said security operatives are finding it difficult to end kidnapping in that zone (Kaduna-Abuja), because the bush where they (kidnappers) normally camped was huge and full of heavily armed herdsmen. “The truth is that you will find it difficult to know who a kidnapper is amid those herdsmen. Everyone is armed with AK47 for security reasons. It is not about kidnapping, but protecting our cows from rustlers. That huge forest is not under the control of any security agency, we are not protected by anyone, so we formed our own security outfit. It is a case of the survival of the fittest, every son in the family is trained to handle AK47 and if there is an invasion we will protect our own. In that bush there are clashes among herdsmen and cattle rustlers that no one knows about and which people die. “It was when everybody became armed and ready for any attack that the bad ones among us decided to come out of the bush and start kidnapping. They succeeded and pride themselves about their success. They were spending money recklessly and bought cows to expand their flock. “In the forest, you are respected by the number of cows you own. As expected the youth got attracted to that lifestyle and gradually joined them. Every family has weapons to protect themselves, so where to get AK47 is not an issue. “Since the bush is filled with armed men, security agencies are afraid to venture into the bush. Any security agent who dares to come into the forest will try to take your guns from you and leave you unprotected. This is why our elders who, though are not in support of what the younger ones are doing, prefer to remain silent and resist any attempt to invade the forest.” Ahmed said that the forest had become too hot (due to increase in criminal activities) and elders were warning the youths to stop kidnapping. “The elders are not happy that government had noticed what was going on. They are afraid that government will throw bomb in that area if those involved in kidnapping do not stop. They have formed vigilance groups among us to checkmate the activities of kidnappers. This is why some of us relocated back to Niger State.” ....This is an answered prayer. The key to winning a war is good intelligence, this helps us understand the modus of the herdsmen, their state of being armed, their practice of knowing how to handle AK47, the fact that there are some sane elders among them. I always asked myself when travelling in Nigeria, what goes on in the large expanses of forest that we drive past. The fact is that we need to open up these areas to a forest ranger division of the Nigerian police, we also should take more interest in our forests, we must explore them through outdoor activities like hunting and hiking, so we can demistify the fulani of the bush and bring them into true Nigerian citizenship not have them just exist as an independent clan. Also note that they said every son of the family knows how to operate an ak. Sons of other tribes better learn all about aks now with the internet, so that you can stand a chance to disarm them and use their weapon against them if they eveer decide to emerge from the bush to attack you. 25 Likes 3 Shares |

It's a lie, the herdsmen's salary is like 20k, 15k etc AK-47 is very costly so they can't buy it, the cows don't belongs to the herdsmen so they can't sell it, the cows belong to top rich hausa/Fulani men and politicians, eg. President Buhari had 150 cows before becoming a the presidio, Buhari doesn't own any ranch, top Fulani rich men and politicians armed the herdsmen to protect their cows then the herdsmen use it to terrorize people 20 Likes |

Their masters in government will set them free like a bird. This is propaganda campaign by Fulani in government, using unknown faces as escape goats. Until I see the videos of their executions by the court order, it remains lies from Fulani and BMC to diverting gullible supporters attention. So security agencies knew the forests where all these herdsmen and AREWA carrying out killings and looting from citizens are hiding but scared of invading or bombing Where are those cowards calling for maxi Nnamdi Kanu arrests and killing innocent Igbos Maybe we IPOB too needs to start agitating with guns so that the zoo security agencies will stop killing us during our agitation. 7 Likes |

State of the nation, courtesy of the protected ones. For all those who see nothing wrong in their quest to pass the bill for grading reserves, I hope you become a victim to them soon. How a person who have parents who are rich cattle rearers believes that kidnapping is his destiny beats me. If he and his type have had the benefit of education, they would have upgraded their family business by going into ranching. As it is, the dumb generation before them keep giving birth to dumber generation of societal misfits in their millions every year. More worrisome is how it now looks normal to see these herdsmen/kidnappers to be armed with AK 47 rifles and not get challenged by security forces over it! What kind of country is this, for goodness sake?? 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Are you seeing the type of country we are living in... A friend of mine was kidnapped on the highway, and with the same style this Evil hearted beast used, he had to cough out 5million naira. When they kidnap you, they check your phone and bank details. They check your skin, how healthy you are. They won't hesitate to gun you down over unanswered question. They looked exactly like those buggers on the street, thin, haggered, and cloth not worth more than 500naira. 8 Likes |
