Sorry about that. Let your family nominate someone else to accompany her. Preferably married with kids, a job...basically someone who has strong ties to Nigeria that will necessitate their return. There's still a chance of someone accompanying her. legrande69:
Well... Firstly I think what happened today is not fair. Was supposed to accompany my aunt who's having a laser eye surgery at Pennsylvania. V.O: morning Me: morning how are you (Passed passport for scanning) V.O: what's your purpose of travel Me: I'm accompanying my aunt going for a medical examination v.O: do you have any supporting document? Me: passed it to him Then he started typing almost for 5 mins and checking every page over and over V.O: where are you traveling to. Me: told him. V.O: have you been out of Nigeria Me: Yes, to UAE. Visited Dubai and two other Emirates V.O: married or single Me: single V.O: kids Me ; none And I heard the sorry message and got a blue sheet. My AUNTY has her visa already and we were supposed t travel next week. Now she has no one to accompany her which is a big problem for her as she's having a surgery. I was told the V.O should have called the doctor for verification... But none of that was done I feel sad cos when I called my aunt she was almost crying and confused about what to do |

It doesn't sound like you're in love with her but just want to use her to achieve your immigration ambition. Else why should you be thinking of her taking care of you and not the other way round or mutually? I don't know why I have this feeling that you're a lazy man. If you're truly in love, what you should do is to invite her to Nigeria for wedding, thereafter she would be able to file for a spouse visa called Immigrant Visa for a Spouse of a U.S. Citizen (IR1 or CR1). Warning:Do not marry a foreign citizen because of visa, it's a recipe for disaster. 3 Likes |

Hi everyone, mine goes like this; VO: next please Me: Goodmorning, handing over my passport VO: Goodmorning how are you Me: fine thank you VO: so where re you going to Me: Texas and Florida visiting and sightseeing VO: asked me questions in my form, which I answered exactly because I went through over and over. VO: what do you do Me: I am an engineer with XYZ company VO: tell a bit of you job Me: I started explaining from scratch, though I was about nervous at first, but got relaxed while talking. First timer syndrome. VO: Have you been to any other country outside the united state, Me: sorry VO: I mean Nigeria, Me: yes , but Africa countries , ghana, Cameroon, its indicated in my passport She did even bother checking more like "I know that" The next thing she closed that hole for passing over documents VO: are you married? Me: Single VO: why US Me: I have an invite and I have some places in particular I intend to visit in Florida, about to bring out my IV VO: I don't need to see that. VO: what are my ties Me: asides from my job, I have a land I acquired but don't have the documentation with me here. Next VO:it's unfortunate, you don't show enough ties , she passes over the blue copy
Here comes my problem, Personally my main motive was visitation and sight seeing and I have a monthly salary of around 400k before tax and close to 380kafter tax which can be more. Cannot place why I was denied the visa, I felt bad because she blatantly refused to see any of my documentation, like she has made up her mind to deny me visa I had to stand all day without food, was really dizzy while I was waiting for the guy infront of me to finish, I left the que to drink water which made me feel better
And now I need to reapply as soon asap because my company trains us in US and I don't want to have issues with Visa incase there is need for me to go for a training any time soon.
What should I do ? Should I go ahead and reapply immediately as many as advised or should I apply to another country and then try uS again.
Bear in mind, I did my interview on the 2nd of August 2017. Thank You 2 Likes |

@justiceuphold. Sorry for the refusal. However I'll advise you not to reapply. Don't take this to be an insult but there's nothing spectacular or distinguishing you from the other zillion other applicants that have been denied. From your observation you were refused because you didn't have travel history If you can afford to travel to the US then you can afford to travel to other countries. Again feeling bad because your documents weren't checked shows you truly didn't study this thread. Nobody has their documents checked. Yet again. America does not care that you need to go for a training in the future. If you are actually nominated for a training you will still be evaluated on merit.
@legrande that is just opinion that stems from your emotions. Lay aside sentiments and self evaluate yourself.

1. No one looks at documents. 2. You were really lucky to meet a VO, who asked you for your ties...that's a probably a hint, that you have weak ties...work on that. 3. No matter how many times you apply, if your circumstances haven't changed or your ties haven't become stronger, you will likely get the same result. 4. Maybe you should have waited to apply when your company wants to send you for training, you have already appeared before the US embassy for the purpose of vacation, and now you are coming back for the purpose of training by your company - you will probably look desperate, and you don't need that note on your profile. A quick question Has anyone ever travelled with a ticket that your departure date is just before your visa expires and return date about one week after or thereabouts.
Not travelled with this visa yet but the ticket prices now are making me consider booking as I explained above.
I know on the Giving birth thread people have gone to the US just before their visa expired and left after expiry but they are pregnant so I don't know |

I know on the Giving birth thread people have gone to the US just before their visa expired and left after expiry but they are pregnant so I don't know Hubby did earlier on in the year in this very Trump's era without issues at all. However he had something going for him - he is not a first timer to the US and has always been brief in his previous visits. |

I don't really believe in following a script before interview because one can easily get derailed when the questions are not coming in the expected order or are rephrased.
You should rather learn how to respond to interview questions. You should be confident, audible, truthful and exhibit eye-to-eye contact etc. Truth is constant so your answers will always be same, even if the same question is rephrased.

Please nairalanders when can i re-apply, I'm thinking of re-applying 2-weeks time since my annual leave is still intact. By then i would've learn how to explain visitation very well. because i think that's the cause of my denial+voice shaking[/b] |

LadyGuinivere: @justiceuphold.
@cosade..... U hit the nail on the head. All the tym. Well done sir/ma
Thanks. As a Rotarian, I see this as an avenue for service. |

Olusegun26: I'm Male, 26, Lagos embassy. Single. US First timer..
Mind you, my accent was American (I've worked with them and have many as friends.. That's doesn't matter anyways but gives me load of confidence since we can both hear ourselves with no excuse me, ehn ehn, come again )..
1. Ignore those th*gs around.. Get the trio ready.. DS160 confirmation page, gtbank receipt and appointment confirmation. 2. I think it's more of academic, convince these guys and look them straight in their eyes... (dem no carry firewood ma). 3. Say wetin de your ds160 and be mentally prepared without contradicting yourself.
4. Be calm in spite of noise, side talks, be still and calm and concentrate.. Don't be drifted.
Special thanks to Seyewest.. Your bottle of wine awaits you, kindly claim your price.
I asked questions Here because I was confused while filling the form, he took his time to explain.
Let me chip this in... Fill your form yourself.
First timer, Don't worry if you made mistakes while filling your form prior to your appointment, refill and refill until you perfect it because your fingerprints sealed the last ds160 attached to your appointment permanently. Again, fear not(like me, I was scared to refill and refill)..
I'll share my poe experience next week.
Above all, pray to God, be shrewd and avoid legible misrepresentation which might cost you instantly. I wish you all the best.
Congratulations. Your interview was on point I'd like to point something out tho. You mentioned speaking and sounding American That's funny, bro. Speaking American doesn't sound equate zilch. I bet you sounded 100% Nigerian with a clearer accent to the VO than American. People who's lived here over 20 years still get asked where they're from. So no, you don't sound American and the VOs can understand you perfectly without you putting yourself in the unnecessary wahala of sounding American 4 Likes |

Hubby did earlier on in the year in this very Trump's era without issues at all. However he had something going for him - he is not a first timer to the US and has always been brief in his previous visits. Thanks! It's not my first time either , been a couple of times before. Visit is brief. |

You maybe right about people's document not being checked, but based on what I saw on that wednesday, they actually do, so alot of the VOs do that for a couple of applicants, which made me feel a bit bad when she refused to do that for me. But that's in the past, I guess your advice is for me to travel to other countries before re-applying, but that still doesn't boost my Ties. Personnel, I think my ties maybe part of the reason for my denial, so how can I improve on my ties. |

KaptainAfrika: 1.
Thanks, I think it's the ties thing too and I have a family that bears same surname as mine, I was going to visit. I think that's what made it worse. What do I do then improve on my ties, though I have a land, but having issue with the papers, if an able to get that sorted out with my job, it's that enough ties. And I also noticed alot of single ladies were denied that day,I hope I am not seeing a pattern...thinking aloud. |
