Apart from studying do you make any money at all?
Have you traveled out of the country before?

I run a business,a low income one though, have never traveled out,but our traditional wedding will be in dubai,so we'll have the visa with us,before the u.sa interview.

If you're a first timer I suggest you should think of alternatives (SA, UAE or even the west coast) for your honeymoon. Reason: If your Dad did not give you at least one holiday trip outside Nigeria during your undergraduate days then it would be difficult to convince anyone that he can afford to fund your trip.

God just answered my dad's prayer,he just got bigger this year, have never traveled out,but our traditional wedding will be in dubai,so that will count,i guess.

Kindly shelve this your US visa plan for now please.... Are you having the trado-wedding already (or just the 'visa' at hand?) before US visa interview and is your dad responsible for that too? Camdan oh, before you finish your credibility with the US embassy without reason!

They do not ask for the hubby income in the form.

Not spouse's income but sponsor's.
You're asked something like "Is someone else paying for this trip?" and if you answer "yes", you'll be prompted to state your sponsor's details.

Congratulations to your Dad for "getting bigger". Sure, if he can afford paying for traditional wedding in Dubai then no one will doubt that he should be able to sponsor your honeymoon to California.

Hmmmn, as per the traditional wedding in Dubai, remember that "Alejo lowo" (money is a stranger). Ensure your future (as you're starting a new family) is guaranteed.

In your visa application you would have stated the income of your husband
which presumably is above the lower limit bound. On random basis US Embassy do follow up to confirm information provided, that is why some successful visa applicants are asked to provide additional documents and even some approved visa are not issued.

No way, no need for @the bolded. Anyways, this was a successful one, and LadyG's opinion explains to a whole large extent the reason for the success though the transcript's poster seem of another opinion from his assumptions. Clearly from the transcript, the probability of his wife getting a visa can be said to be higher compared to being refused. Again, anything could have happened, she may have some more of the visa determining variables going for her in the VO's assessment and from those indices invisible to us "analysts" cheesy

US visa has no specific pattern. I keep hearing people giving all sorts of tips. Let me share my wife's interview sometime ago.

VO: Hello, where in US are you going?
Wife: Philadephia.
VO: To do what?
Wife: Visit my inlaws.
VO: Where do you work?
Wife: I'm not working anymore as I resigned to take care of my kid.
VO: Who's paying for your trip?
Wife: Hubby
VO: Where does hubby work?
Wife: XYZ
VO: Travelled before?
Wife: With hubby to Dubai for honeymoon.
VO: Is hubby going with you?
Wife: No, just me and my kid. Hubby is busy at work.
VO: Pick up your visa in a few days.

No reasonable travel history, no job, not going with husband, visiting inlaws and u can decide to stay back. Like I keep saying, visa to US is like the lottery. Very unpredictable. Just pray for luck.

Yeah @the bolded is possible. But when the time comes, you will have to literary VARNISH into the US after she has overstayed her visa with the kids (that then will partly give you a clearer picture of why the VO could somehow risk granting her the visa). Her response to the question on where you work could just be the magic here even as there's at least some travel history that counts just in case you are over underrating a UAE travel history WITH YOU FOR HONEYMOON. Also, there may have been further questions asked as regards her own "work" not captured in this transcript, just my assumption though.

Quite funny @the bolded. You think VO's are idiots? Go and do the wedding first in Dubai as sponsored of by your dad, maybe then, he will be acceptable to some extent as your US trip sponsor. By CREDIBILITY I mean, keep your records unblemished, untarnished and not calling for tighter scrutiny in future applications just in case this your watery package is refused in the now. I normally will advise, go to the US embassy for a visa only when the odds are much more stacked up in your favor and not otherwise. This one is not just to your advantage yet, sorry dude!

NB// what do you even think a UAE visa looks like sef? A sticker on your passport, abi?

Go with all the documents you have, it won't hurt if none is asked for, but would, if asked for and you don't have it.

By the way, you mentioned reservation not evidence of payment/wire transfer for the Dubai hotel and hall, which I think is the most important.

During your interview, you should look for the slightest opportunity to use this as a strength to cover your major weakness of no travel history.

Like if you're asked if you've travelled out of Nigeria. I'll expect something like "No, because my Dad who is my sponsor insisted my first trip outside Nigeria would be for my wedding ceremony, which would be taking place in Dubai and he wants the honeymoon in California. He has committed so much if his personal resources to made this dream if his come true".

Hopefully, at that point you may asked for evidence of payment made for Dubai ceremony.

I now recall that my spouse was asked verbally during the interview. But with my office name and position on the application, it would have given the VO an idea of my status.

Yea, you're absolutely right.

Pls what about if no travel history and your employer is the one responsible for the trip, can I just answer affirmatively, NO...?

If you have no travel history, of course the answer will always be "No" irrespective of whom your sponsor is. The best you can do is to quickly add whatever strength you think can over ride that.

If I were in your shoe, I'll say "No, because since I started work it has been difficult to get two weeks leave at a stretch but this time my employers are sponsoring so I am permitted to travel for the period .....". It's a gamble, hope that the VO would listen to you but as it has been advised severally here, it's good to have good travel history before seeking US visa.

I hope you work for a reputable company sha.

LOL. Even though I feel getting a US visa has element of luck as a factor, your story seems watery. Traditional wedding in Dubai? Honeymoon in the US? LOL. I've never laughed so hard. I was denied UK visa three times as a younger man because I wanted to travel at all cost. When I look back at my applications now, I feel embarrassed. Sorry to bust your bubble but if you don't change your story line entirely and your reason for travelling, you have a 100% chance of rejection coming your way.

God bless you my good man.
Folks need to be using inner eye and Wisdom to perceive posts. So when they come back the VOs aren't crucified
1.they wanna use marriage as a tie. Trado marriage. In Dubai at that. Now that tie would not even have materialized at the tym of applying. So for all intents and purposes they are young, single with zero travel history
2. They have no job
3. They have no income.
4.is Dubai not a honeymoon location.
Mbok make e apply jor... We are waiting

Bros, I like your faith. I suppose you have already paid visa fees, so no harm attending interview.
If going ahead, make sure your Dubai visa is legit (I have heard of banks not accepting them for PTA, and I have seen airline staff debate on whether it's genuine or not). Also, since your trad arrangement is fixed and committed, better to go with hotel and hall payment receipts, not reservation which can be cancelled. If you will come back to Nigeria before honeymoon, go with your Lagos-Dubai-Lagos tickets also.

Going to Dubai for Trad and returning before interview may better help your situation (at least, you will have genuine travel history). However, all in all, I am inclined to opine that you settle for a less towering hurdle: many countries provide top honey moon destination. Close to Dubai, you can try Seychelles (it's visa free on arrival for Nigerians) or Kenya (visa on arrival for Nigerians and if you use Kenyan Airways, you may even find that routing your Dubai flight through Nairobi may be cheaper than Emirates direct flights).
